[#1268] was it the influence of the recent thai flood that there's a sharp hike in the price of rice?? cos recently i bought char-siew chicken rice, was charged RM6 instead of RM5.. and worse is the economy rice, charged RM7 instead of RM5 for just 1 meat and 2 vegetables at a very run-down coffee shop!! that's looting a burning house yeah??

right up till here, i just can't stop myself from complaining that things are getting so very expensive today, everything's yelling to increase price, or is it just me that stay with the price perceptions from few years back?? especially those desserts, drinks and confectioneries that are made popular by bandwagon effect (but nothing special indeed), just a little portion of that can already feed a poor family of 5 for three meals in a day!!

[P/S] what most ridiculous was a packet of very plain lime water i bought from a coffee shop named L*do in Brickfields, and was charged RM2 for that!! what?? they think they are the posh coffee shop in the high class Lido Hotel?? that's just as good as robbing our money don't you think?? into my blacklist since then~~

  14. Wah RM7.00 for buffet economy rice!!! Oh my goodness RM5.00 Bananaz also complaining at my place. See there are a few choices of coffee shops and have been comparing prices lately too. There is this shop in particular the most expensive. Quite standard for me all the time, small rice and 3 veges no meat its RM5.00 where the other shops charge between RM4.20 to RM4.50. Not satisfied went again with two veges no meat its RM4.50 and I asked why so expensive? He said lots of veges woh. OK Bananaz let him go one horse this time.

  15. Would go again next time to the same expensive shop maybe next week with only one vege to see how much he charges and the following brunch next time would be small rice with only curry kuah to see what is the price. *silent protest* haha.

  16. Had economy 'buffet' lunch in Taman Miharja the other day, small rice and two veges paid RM2.80. Woh so cheap one?

  17. economic rice that charge me more than rm5 for vegetable and rice only will get blacklisted by me immediately. that's why i dislike to patronize most chinese economic rice stalls - the indian rice stalls charge way reasonable than that, with bigger portion and yummier!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I agree with kyh. Better go to indian/mamak place. Rice so much on the plate, plus ketam and vege, they only charge me RM4.50 (the one near my house la)

  19. some stalls or restaurants are probably taking advantage of the disaster happening in Thai... maybe you should try the local Malaysian rice which should be cheaper. Here, for one kilo of very good quality of rice it costs RM3. It's local.

  20. Daylight robberies... RM7.00 for economy rice? But anyway I don't eat economy rice for a long long time already. My office 3 mins drive only from home. Prepare my lunch in the morning before go to work, lunch come back eat with son.

P/S The football players on my cupcake is store brought plastic figure. Raining everyday otherwise I would have make my own using sugar paste.

  31. The name should be changed from 'economy' rice to one that doesn't mislead, eh? RM7 is too much for that plate of rice unless you picked up some huge prawns. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  32. Everything has gone up except the salary that doesn't commensurate with the inflationary rate. *Sigh..*

    ReplyDelete
  56. It's never worth your money ordering water in restaurants. My clean, filtered water from home is so much cheaper!
