Yup...should give us extra discount
ReplyDeletedefinitely should give us discount!
ReplyDeletebecause when ordering online, we don't need to go to counter. No need to pay for a lot of staff to man the counters. Some more, staff can go on MC a lot. LOL
ReplyDeleteI always buy my ticket online too.
ReplyDeleteIf they give discounts, I think more people would buy online and reduce the queue at the cinema, right?
Much better after this if can do self-check in into the cinema hall, much like self check-in to board a plane.LOL
ReplyDeleteMust be to build the ticketing system cost a lot, ah?
ReplyDeleteSounds like convenience at a cost, eh? Good thing we don't have to pay a surcharge for restaurant reservations.
ReplyDeleteWahhhh!!! Like booking seats in a plane when buying air tickets...
ReplyDeleteso much convenient..
ReplyDeleteThis is Malaysia. No discount even paperless. The good example is Touch n Go usage in the carpark. Need to pay extra 10% if we don't use the parking voucher. So what is the purpose of paperless? We pay more...
ReplyDeleteAfter giving such reasons, who would have agree that we should pay the extra when booking online.
ReplyDeleteThat 0.50sen to cut minutes of your time q-ing.
That 0.50sen to allow you to come to the cinema as early and as late as you want.
That 0.50sen to allow you to plan before hand and to avid last minute changes due to the last tickets already being bought.
I would say yes and no. It's just depending how you view that 0.50sen, or you can make full use of that 0.50sen by not booking online and q for your tickets =)
Online ticketing is good. But I've given up cause the cinema just won't accept my credit card payment.. ish ish..
ReplyDeleteI'm all for discounts LOL!
ReplyDeleteDidnt know about the barcode scanning...
You should forward this to GSC. :p
so this is called "Direct Purchase Online", they charge extra? Maybe is to maintain the server and the website layout of TGV seems to be very expansive lol
ReplyDeleteI think they should help you book the ticket, and send you the code. Then you redeem at counter just like GSC does . . .
ReplyDeleteoh wait Dear SK, this is TGV or GSC, so confusing la lol!! I remember GSC is redeem the ticket at counter buy buying the tix from phone (using iPhone apps)
ReplyDeleteIf internet both also leceh la, better buy on the spot! lol (1hour before ++)
thats why sometimes I go premier screening sponsor by nuffnang, no need to headache about ticket. I know it is abit guilty bu obtaining the ticket with FREE la . . . but buying tix sometimes very confusing, new movie sure alot of people book already. Book already didn't redeem those type dam freaking pantang! >:(
ReplyDeleteYes, cos it saves the staff work! last night i went to buy ticket for Real Steel.. only front row available.. should have done it online ... dint know.. but now i know.. :)
ReplyDeletei enjoy the thrill of driving manual labour forces. hahaha
ReplyDeleteI reserved...I mean bought the tickets via online a few times already...it is really a convenience. But...well like you said...we shouldn't have to pay the extra fee right?
ReplyDeleteYes...we are actually doing most of the thing right? So why should we be charged? :/
ReplyDeleteMaybe the maintenance fee for the website? LOL :D
ReplyDeleteI always buy my movie tickets online, save the hassle of going an hour or two earlier to ques for the ticket. so I actually not really mind paying the extra 0.50 sen. But most time I go for "Wednesday movie day" where the ticket is at a cheaper rate. hahaha.. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteNot quite sure of the mechanics of going online and the cost involved. There may be an up front additional cost in the set up like gateway payment, server etc. Eventually the economies of scale would bring down the cost to a much lower level as compared to labour cost. Question is will GSC stop charging the 50sen extra by then or lagi best further reduce the cost? Hopefully the competitor would give a helping hand.
ReplyDeleteOne classic example on the difference of cost *correct me if I am wrong, and 1000 apologies for my ignorance* is the commission charged for buying shares online and physically through a remisier. Also banks & telcos are promoting paperless transaction throwing in gifts and whatnots to encourage customers to do.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree we should be given discounts instead of charging us extra.
ReplyDeleteBut I guess maintaining the site needs money
ReplyDeleteSome cinemas even charge booking fee which I think is ridiculous. GSC Mid Valley collects RM1 for collecting tickets booked via internet.
ReplyDeleteYou've got a point, even though I think the 50 sen goes to the bank instead of the cinema. Perhaps the cinema should reduce the cost of ticket for online instead, so that the bank charges added up will make the total ticket price to be same :)
ReplyDeleteThey are rip-offs! Booooo!
ReplyDeleteI really save time and parking as I used to go there in the mornings to book my night shows. Now just online!
ReplyDeleteThey say that the maintenance for IT fees is higher than hiring ticket sellers! What a bull.
ReplyDeleteNow my EON-GSC Bank credit card is useless with the online booking.
ReplyDeleteI have been watching movies often lately after my crazy work stint at Mines. I am trying to get my life back to normal.
ReplyDeleteI wanna start spamming my Thambee's blogs again.
ReplyDeleteit's easy but i'm more lazy to browse through the site ><
ReplyDeletetotally agree with u. shud give discount then I'll try to book online! I've never bought tickets online .. hehe..
ReplyDeleteonline ticketing is really convenient. Love it to bits
ReplyDeleteI just do online hotel booking through Genting World Card, they give me discount of 20% more than booking though phone call or fax. So, I agree with you that everything done online should be entitled a discount.
ReplyDeleteEh, cinema online booking charges us extra 50 cents? Online booking always give us more saving, no?? Tsk, tsk....
ReplyDeleteGotta agree with points here that we are getting our own tickets without any assistance from cinema's staff and we help them to save papers. Then what's the 50 cents for? Hogging their lines??
ReplyDelete@ Small Kucing:
ReplyDeleteyeah, i think that will promote more people using their online ticketing service..
@ lina:
yeah, i also buy my movie tickets online unless i was at the cinema a day before so i will buy the tickets in advanced.. hmmm, very true, with the online ticketing they just don't need that many staff to man the counters, and this is cost saving, wonder why they are still charging us extra service fees for the online transaction.. errr, perhaps it's the charges on credit card transactions?? hmmm, the cinema should actually bear the cost i think, if they are giving discounts, i'm sure more people will use the online facilities and this is actually a win-win situation..
@ HappySurfer:
ReplyDeletei think it's something like priority ticketing, so we are charged for the convenience?? by right that should not be the case right, since we help them to save labour and material costs..
@ suituapui:
errr, you have not seen this before?? yeah, you can choose your seats as you like when you buy the movie tickets online..
@ wenn:
ReplyDeleteyeah, that's definitely very convenient but with a cost, sadly..
@ TZ:
yes i agree with you with both my hands and both my legs up!! it's so ridiculous that if we used touch-n-go for parking, we are asked to pay for the 10% extra!! and convenience is so costly over here?? that's why i never want to use touch-n-go, just pass less and get them to spend on the tickets..
@ Daniel Chiam:
ReplyDeletewell, so you are actually supportive to the extra 50 sen that they charge per ticket?? so meaning we sort of pay that extra to enjoy all the convenience?? well, seems like not the case precisely.. the cinema treats the online ticketing as priority service that's why they impose additional charges.. but come to think about it, come on, it's already digital era why do they still want to do such adverse thing right??
@ Hayley:
oh why?? i have no problem at all with my credit card.. maybe you should try Maybank2U or CIMB clicks instead??
@ kyh:
ReplyDeleteyeah, who doesn't like discounts right?? haha.. oh yeah, GSC now have the barcode scanning facilities for self check-in..
@ Kian Fai Koh:
errr, whether GSC or TGV also works the same way right?? buy the ticket and then you can collect the ticket with the confirmation code.. but now that GSC allows you to print your own ticket and scan the barcode at the entrance, so no need to queue to collect the tickets also, but i have no idea if TGV has that facilities already?? aiyoh, you think everyone also so lucky like you always got free movies to watch meh?? i've so far watched one free premiere only, which was from a friend's invitation because they got complimentary tickets from DHL for their customers.. aiyoh, if i happened to be at the cinema of course i will get the ticket there lah, can save up 50 sen mah, haha.. wah, you always buy ticket on the spot 1 hour before?? errr, normally the tickets all sold out already if you get it so late..
@ reanaclaire:
ReplyDeletehmmm, for those popular movies, better to buy the ticket one or two days before.. this is to secure the better seats if you are more particular on the seating.. haha, now you know you can get it online so action please~~
@ Rebecca Kheng:
@ Medie007:
ReplyDeletehaha!! that's some other kind of thrill because you have the fun of guessing which movie you are able to get~~
@ Tekkaus:
yeah, no doubt it's super convenient but then i think since it's already the digital era we are in, why can't they be more IT thinking?? we helped them to save lots of labour and material costs.. well, i guess it's the maintenance fees and commission that we are paying for..
@ Amelia's De-ssert:
ReplyDeleteyeah, i think many wouldn't mind paying that extra 50 sen for the convenience they get.. i also buy movie tickets online too, this is to make sure i don't go there and found out tickets are sold out, and also to secure myself the best seats i can get.. errr, but i usually only go for movies on weekends, more expensive~~ :(
@ Bananazஇ:
yeah, talking about economies of scale here?? hmmm, Bananazஇ is an economist or accountant or marketer?? haha.. well, it could most probably be the commission that we are paying, to the software company and also to the banks for credit card payment.. anyway, i don't think the cinema will ever waive that fees and definitely will not reduce the price for the ticket at all.. well perhaps just like you said, we really need the competitors to lend a helping hand then..
@ Casendra:
@ foongpc:
oh really?? tickets booked via internet are charged RM1?? but if straight away made the payment, only 50 sen is charged!! wow, they are surely making a lot of extra money from the bookings huh??
@ iamthewitch:
ReplyDeleteoh yeah, i do agree with you.. probably the cinema should have given some incentives to patrons who use their online facilities.. they are reducing staff cost and printing material cost, so those should have reflected in the price of the tickets right?? but come to reality, i don't think they will ever do that lah~~
@ Twilight Man:
hmmm, Thambee doesn't believe that the maintenance for IT is more expensive than hiring the front-desk staffs.. if so, then they would have most probably discontinued the online ticketing facilities, agree?? oh, Arumugam that EON-GSC card still entitles the RM1 rebate, so meaning after the 50 sen service fees, we still can get a nett 50 sen discount lah, so still a good deal, haha.. anyway, Thambee still thinks the online ticketing is overall a good one..
@ FiSh:
ReplyDeletehmmm, actually i think you just have to overcome this barrier.. once you're done with the online purchase you don't need to queue up anymore.. :)
@ Merryn:
haha, but i think it will be the same for you whether with discounts or not, because you will never find out since you are so blur with the money~~ :D
@ Isaac Tan:
yeah, although need to pay that extra 50 sen, i still think i don't mind that for maximum convenience.. :)
@ Sheoh Yan:
ReplyDeleteoh yeah, i think hotels actually encourage us to book through the internet by giving lots of discounts.. i wonder why those cinemas cannot do that?? this will sure attracts more people to watch movie since it's more convenient and cheaper, agree??
@ yvonne:
hahaha, now you realised this is not the case for online movie tickets.. instead we are charged 50 sen extra to "buy" the convenience!! maybe that extra is for them to pay commissions and to maintain the system, but come to that again, we help them to save labour cost and ticket materials right?? should have discount lah~~
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering on this too. They should give a discount instead. I thought they charged RM 1 per booking ?
ReplyDeleteI agree that online bookings have made our lives easier today.
ReplyDeleteNow we can save so much time from traveling to book cinema or air tickets with online purchases. Soon we can also order everything online under the skies like in US. They already offer online orders for whores and even funeral packages!
ReplyDeleteI think the mentality of govt will slow down the progress! Agree?
@ mNhL:
errr, if i go online i might as well confirm to purchase the ticket straight away instead of just book them.. i think the booking charges is RM1 for each booking, but the online purchase of ticket is 50 sen per ticket..
@ Twilight Man:
ReplyDeleteyeah, it's kind of convenient and Thambee also most of the time buy movie tickets online, it's just so much easier and the uncertainties of not getting to watch your movie on the spot will never happen.. errr, Thambee thinks people here are slowly going towards more online shopping, also because of the traditional perception, lots of factors contributing to why people prefer to go physical shopping than online shopping..
@ edward:
