whenever i walk passed foodcourt in shopping malls, i will unintentionally look at what the patrons are eating, and most if the time i'll just have a laugh and walk away looking at those so-called delicacies.. why did i say so?? but don't you think the foodcourt now are not really selling nice food at all??

i would say they are all very commercialised, pricey food and worst thing is how not sincere (or perhaps too sincere in "creative fusion") the food are being prepared.. other than that, have you noticed your food are now all prepared by foreign workers, though skilled and trained, but we know us chinese will not teach everything and always reserved some so-called deadly skills.. so tell me, how will the food taste authentically nice under such factors??

sorry to say even with the guarantee from that famous "sling bag gastronome" that all great food brought under the same roof, i still think the best food would be those cooked in the most authentic, most original and heartiest way..

  3. Yes, the food in KL foodcourt is undescribleabe. It's still edible, but it's not tasty at all. Expensive some more. That's why I prefer Penang. :P

  6. Yup, most food court stall handle by foreign workers.

Even some restaurant and hawker stall also practiced that.

  7. yealor, a lot of foodcourt nowadays are run by foreign workers instead of local owners. :)

  11. What to do.. most eateries now are manned by foreigners already.. sometimes it's even more irritating when they don't understand what we want!

  12. Eh hello SK Thambee, you supposed to eat Indian curry rice on banana leaves. Why complain so much and laugh at them?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Kamala cooks delicious and spicy curries for you at home but you go out to eat Ayoyo! She will pull your ears Thambee!!!

  14. The food court workers are also your brothers from chennai la.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The worst scenario are the foreign workers working at KLIA until govt had to ban them. Tourists complained that the workers could not even understand simplest English and just nodded their heads.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I only eat at Food Court when time is running out. I am not so high class like Thambee la... oni big restoran makan yeah...

  17. Blame the Chinese bosses for hiring foreign workers to manage their stalls and let the quality drop. Boycott!

  18. When are you going to cook your fames Nasi beriyani with chicken masalla for Arumugam to eat?

  22. Agree with you 100% - don't think much of what they sell at food courts...BUT KL's hawker stalls and kopitiam stalls are also run by Banglas or Myamarese and the bosses are nowhere to be seen - and the quality of the food has gone down drastically - so hard to find something nice at Jalan Alor these days! If this goes on, Malaysia will no longer be a food paradise...

  23. Yes I agreed bro. I mean only those in shopping complex of course. :p

    ReplyDelete
  24. This is in Midvalley right? :/ I seldom eat at food court...unless...I have no place to eat already.

    ReplyDelete
  25. But then again not everyone can afford to eat at those better off places right? So this food court is...the only place where they can dine. :)

  26. foodcourt

  28. My mummy cook is the best ^^ healthy and FOC!

  29. Agree! Its a double deficit steep prices and poor quality food served in shopping malls..

    ReplyDelete
  30. Even in kopitiam too, some 'part time' or rather 'fool time' hawker bosses would employ foreigners to manage their stall but usually their biz would not be better than those full time authentic and hands-on hawkers based on the mere fact that the foreigners do not have human touch, no interaction and rapport between customers besides the poor quality of food. As most foreigners are on a short term basis they will have this thought ~ 'why bother' and that is costly for the hawker bosses as I have seen some failures already.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Food court food definitely not as nice as eating at a hawker stall.

    Some more, so pricey.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hmm....agree thou....
But then i usually eat other country's food in the food court..hehe

    ReplyDelete
  34. I do agree that food court normally don't serve delicious food. At least the ones I have visited.

I have not eaten in a food court for ages. And I don't miss them.

    ReplyDelete
  35. i love food courts lor. but not in malls. i love those kopitiam type. :D

    ReplyDelete
  36. err.. i'm not particular in food.. as long as they are spicy.. then its ok for me :))

    ReplyDelete
  37. This is a sorry state of affairs as the food served has deteriorated drastically as the original recipe has been 'cruelly' altered and the food taste is beyond recognition! I remember eating wanton once which was not made with minced meat but with a chunk of chicken. Oh dear!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Food court food always not tasty!

  42. homecooked is the best because cooking from the heart. eat at food court not yummy.

    ReplyDelete
  43. the worst foodcourt is their foods are already prepared. All they do is campur campur, and microwave

    ReplyDelete
  44. i also seldom eat in foodcourt nowadays, especially if the ventilation is not good..

    ReplyDelete
  45. i still remember it was rather impressive when the concept of foodcourt was first introduced.. i was like making every reason and excuses to go to foodcourt because of the variety..

    ReplyDelete
  46. but now as foodcourt becomes so common and "deafult", and likewise you said, all taken care of by foreign workers, i really find the level of attractiveness drop to a very low level for me..

    ReplyDelete
  47. maybe i would say, foodcourt is really the last resort if i really don't have other choices.. :p

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh yes, no more authentic food nowadays! The best food is still home cooked food!

    ReplyDelete
  49. But not every time can eat home cooked food, and sometimes left with no choice got to go eat at foodcourt!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Not only are the food not nice, they are expensive. At least if they are cheap, I won't complain!

    ReplyDelete
  51. But talking about foodcourt, I hardly eat at foodcourt nowadays : D

    ReplyDelete
  52. @ Merryn:
yeah, normally the foodcourt sells just hawker stalls food, so why pay more for less nice food right?? can't agree with you more, i also prefer hawker stalls for that authentic flavour.. :p

    @ C'est la vie:
well, i would say the foodcourt food are never nice food, but perhaps we call them "convenient" food?? hmmm, i think Penang food is always nicer than those in KL, i mean generally, right?? :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. @ Kelvin:
haha, but then there isn't any nice food in SG right?? and i think foodcourt concept originates from SG, and they are flooding SG right??

    @ edward:

    ReplyDelete
  54. @ blee:
yeah, that's why i sometimes think foodcourt sells "convenient food" only, haha..

    @ Kucing:
yeah, that's something i was not really comfortable with.. totally handled and taken care of by "trained" foreign workers.. for those hawker stall, i guess even they have foreign workers, most probably they only help out, the VIP still the boss themselves..

    ReplyDelete
  55. @ Gabriel:
yes, that is why lor.. quite disappointing you see?? but just went to foodcourt for lunch with colleagues, all bangladeshi cooking chinese food.. @_@

    @ khengsiong:

    ReplyDelete
  56. @ iamthewitch:
i never expect much from foreign workers lah, sometimes when they don't understand our language and style, i just forget it and let them do what they have "learnt" by default lor.. so no more next time for that stall already lor..

    @ Twilight:
no lah, the foodcourt workers mostly from neighbouring country Bangladesh.. and of course i complain cos they cannot cook nice curry rice on banana leaves like Kamala can cook mah.. i bet when you have that, you'd also complain as you only love Letchumi's cooking right?? but then i think this is a trend we can't really do anything about already, cos locals are not going to do this kind of job, so the only way is to hire foreign workers already.. well, i seldom choose to eat in foodcourt lah, unless there's no other better choice lor.. Arumugam, you no scared lah, you always eat at high class restaurant mah..

    ReplyDelete
  57. @ imyuyu:

    @ bluecloud:

    ReplyDelete
  58. @ suituapui:
oh, i have not been to Jalan Alor for a long time already.. and i guess most of the stalls are also manned by foreign workers already.. hmmm, but then as for foodcourt i really won't have any expectation already lah, as long as can fill up my stomach and not really bad in taste then can already lor..

    @ Tekkaus:
hehe, yeah i think this photo (i just grabbed from google) is MV foodcourt.. i always like to see how the food are being prepared, really pathetic bro.. and mind you, the foodcourt is actually quite expensive also, more expensive than McD value lunch!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. @ Ashley:

    ReplyDelete
  60. @ Jessyca:
hahaha, of course nothing can beat your mum's cooking lah.. hehehe~~ :p

    @ Bananazஇ:
oh yeah definitely expensive but not-so-nice food in foodcourts nowadays.. but then i guess foreign workers manning the stalls is a trend now that we cannot do anything.. just think there's not a lot of local people who wanted this kind of jobs.. and those foodcourts now are big chains, and to get maximum profit they would rather employ foreign workers to cut down their cost.. so if you ever eat in a foodcourt, just don't expect much lah..

    ReplyDelete
  61. @ lina:
hehe, yeah of course those hawker stall sells nice food, because they are more authentic and cheaper too.. :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. @ -KeO-:
haha, in that case then you might be deceived of how bad those food are actually prepared?? hahahaha~~ :p

    @ Mei Teng:
yeah, less delicious is one thing, and more expensive is another thing.. that's why i don't really see any reason to go to foodcourt if there are other choices right??

    ReplyDelete
  63. @ Medie007:
the foodcourt i mentioned here is in malls lah.. those kopitiam type of course doesn't fall into the bad category lah..

    @ Danny:
hmmm, you are not particular about food meh?? then just give you one "pat" of soggy rice and few pieces of chili can already?? :D

    ReplyDelete
  64. @ HappySurfer:
yeah, that's why i sometimes feel so sorry for those people who are eating in foodcourt, i mean those food that i saw by just passing by already look pathetic to me.. or maybe the patrons there really are not particular about food, but just for convenience sake??

    @ Pete:
hahahaha, whose cooking always the best?? Pete's one lor~~ :p

    ReplyDelete
  65. @ Chris Chia:

    @ Wois:
you eat too much of foodcourt food?? hahahaha, so pathetic of you leh~~ :D

    ReplyDelete
  66. @ goldflower:
yeah, i totally agree with that.. cooking from the heart is always the most delicious ones.. :)

    @ Ghosty Nana:
oh, exactly!! the food are really just pre-prepared and maybe just add on some more gravy (of course ready made too) for you only.. pathetic!!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. @ victor:
haha, yeah, i remember foodcourt were quite nice when they newly landed over here, i love to try the variety too.. but then back then, the food are really cooked by the local and the boss themselves.. unlike now, they just trained up foreign workers (and maybe not everything).. so can't be surprise the standard won't deteriorate huh??

    @ foongpc:
yeah, of course homecooked food always the best as they are cooked from the heart mah.. foodcourt food now i guess are just for convenience sake lah, never expect anything high standard lor.. haha, you just went China to have the horse meat noodles in a foodcourt right?? :p

    ReplyDelete
  68. over here me and hubs prefer to go to foodcourts because we get to choose from more options and it's delish too

    ReplyDelete
  69. oops i seldom eat at foodcourt! :D but have to agree with u dat nowadays the price for food at foodcourt actually almost d same at those restaurant dy!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. since their price almost d same, y would i wanna go crowded place like foodcourt right? :/

    ReplyDelete
  71. i love homecooked food! mom n dad will cook the most authentic foods for us! mwahaha

    ReplyDelete
  72. Agree with you. All those food are not really nice.
But, I think Penang is the place where the food still tastes good.
KL…. Is a more commercial place to earn more money?

    ReplyDelete
  73. @ Ayie:
maybe it's different over there.. but here in KL, foodcourt standard really drops a lot.. though lots of varieties and choices, the food is expensive and is not necessarily nice..

    @ Caroline Ng May Ling:
yeah, i think now foodcourts are managed by franchised and they are selling more expensive food, but the food are not nice at all.. haha, gotta agree that homecooked food are always the best.. :)

    @ CH Voon:
yeah, now really seldom eat in foodcourt already lor, expensive and not nice.. rather pay slightly more for better environment, or just spend less at hawker stalls lor..
