this month is the fasting month for the muslims, after sunrise and before sunset they are not allowed to eat or drink.. today i went over to midvalley after work, and at one shot did three things which i regard as rather "embarrassing" (i really can't find a good word actually), but i really didn't mean it ok??
  • bought a belt the other day and found out it's too long for me, so i went to that shop again and asked to shorten it.. no matter how hard the sales tried, even till his hand turned swelling red, he still didn't manage to open the buckle.. oh well, i think maybe he hasn't eat for a whole day?? so i said just punch two more holes on it will do, but he might think i complained he's not good..
  • passed by subway, can't resist the smell and just walked in to grab a 6-inch.. initially i wanted to respect the other muslim patrons to eat with them together upon the break-fast time.. but in the end i couldn't take it any longer, quickly (but quietly) gulped the sandwich in big bites and left without turning back.. :D
  • went to the supermarket and gosh, i so pity the cashier at the counter.. having starved the whole day and yet need to stay on duty though it's already break-fast time, she can only secretly squad down to munch something when there're no customer.. i actually planned to wait till she finished, but then she saw me instead and immediately stopped eating to serve.. the unglam thing was, i only bought less than RM2 worth of things~~ :p

  20. coz when toooo hungry, i will have some biscuit also.. =.=

    ReplyDelete
  21. Why should you feel bad?

I don't think there's anything wrong with your request on the belt thing. You paid for it so it's within your reasonable right to request for a service to have it shortened to fit.

I also don't think it's wrong eating when the rest are fasting. Not like you're tempting them on purpose. We have our right to enjoy our life. Whatever others do, they should not impinge on the rights of others.

    ReplyDelete
  22. actually me too feeling that way at first.. but after that seeing those fake people keep telling us that they r fasting but dey eat secretly behind us. wth?!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  32. Whoa, good thing that's only a belt buckle, not a chastity belt otherwise a hammer and pliers would have to come into the picture? Ouch! Ouch! hahah....

Most of us feel bad eating in the presence of people who are fasting but in actual fact, they don't mind, and we shouldn't mind - as that's the way it is. I know... I do too. *sigh*

Item 3, LOL! Oops! That's life too..

    ReplyDelete
  33. "embarrassing"? nothing's wrong I read from the start to the end!?... :-)

    @ Tekkaus:
#1: nope, i actually sounded very nice and suggest another workaround, i wasn't complaining at all ok..
#2: i wanted to wait, but then too hungry and cannot take it already, the sandwich really smell so nice in front of me..
#3: hehe, she willingly stopped eating and serve me while i actually planned to let her finish eating first woh..

    ReplyDelete
  37. @ 安东尼:
yeah, come to think about it, we have the rights to eat as we want right?? so you're in the same shoe?? you still eating happily in front of them?? haha~~

    @ Donna:

    ReplyDelete
  38. @ Mei Teng:
errr, not really feel bad but then don't feel good for doing that also lah.. haha, i think i'm being nice also, because they scratch the back of the buckle and i didn't even complain.. yeah, and for the cashier i think she's being very professional.. unlike some of them who just don't care at all, and take the "buka puasa" as a very big reason to not do anything at all..

    @ Caroline Ng May Ling:
hahaha, so you see some of them secretly eating?? hmm, that is not good at all.. actually i was trying to wait for them, and join them to break fast, but then the sandwich really smell so good in front of me, i cannot take it any longer and tell myself.. maybe i finish it and give my seat to them, even better right?? haha..

    ReplyDelete
  39. @ khengsiong:

    @ wenn:
yeah, i think that should be the way.. she is being professional, when there's a customer, she just stop doing her own things and serve.. that's very good!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. @ xin:
hmm, i think most of them are also very understanding lah.. unlike the principal who scolded the students who eat in school during fasting month.. have you read about that news??

    @ Isley Chang~:
haha, yeah, on the other hand, i was thinking if i finish eating and can give the seats to the others waiting to get in.. win-win situation, kekeke~~

  41. @ Casendra:

  42. @ Grass:
haha, but they won't know that i'm a nice guy from outside right?? :p

    @ HappySurfer:
#1: err, actually it's because they did not have the right tools with them, that's why they have problem opening up the buckle.. and because of that, they scratch my belt buckle, but i didn't complain, so i was being nice right??
#2: hmmm, i actually wanted to wait, but just couldn't haha!! so in another way, i quickly finish and left, so that the others waiting outside will have a seat.. correct??
#3: haha, i wonder if she would be cursing me at the back?? for just RM2~~ :D

    ReplyDelete
  43. @ Dora:
hmmm, actually it's not really embarrassing also, just that i can't find a good word for that.. :p

    @ Danny:
yalor, that cashier girl was very professional lor.. even RM2 also she want to serve me.. not like some others who take "that" as a big excuse not to do anything.. :)

    后来发现是纯学习口才的训练班,跟政治无关。不然,我就不会呆那么久啦!
    我算老组委了,久久才回去一下,
    很多新学员都不认识我了。

    ReplyDelete
  75. So did he manage to open the buckle or he just punch two more holes for you?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Aiya, don't care whether he complained or not, you have every right to get the belt shortened.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Haha! So greedy can't resist Subway! LOL!! But really, there's nothing wrong to eat while the others are fasting.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Huh? Buy RM2 stuffs only and then disturb the cashier buka puasa? So unglam! LOL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  88. you need not to feel bad about it because it's their practice and for them it's important to follow...i know it feels kind of odd but that's how it is

    ReplyDelete
  89. hmmm, i don't think you need to feel bad about the belt.. the problem is that they can't help with what the customer wanted right?? you have the right dude..

    ReplyDelete
  90. haha, come to think about it, if you finish your sandwich quick and then left the place, you are doing good to give the seats to other people waiting also right?? :p

    ReplyDelete
  91. again, if she was there for her duty, then she has the responsibility to serve you by no doing her own things.. anyway, i do salute her for being that professional and dedicated though.. :)

    ReplyDelete
  92. @ Bengbeng:
hahahaha, if i'm gonna do that then i will regard that not as fasting but as "loose weight diet" for me, kekekeke :p but again this is not good, as you tend to eat more when you break fast after starving for whole day..

    @ foongpc:
#1: at the end, no choice i just get him to punch to more holes for me so that i can wear the belt.. as a result, i have additional 4 holes in total (included the 2 when i first bought)..
#2: hahaha, yeah, i actually like Subway for the freshness.. true also lah, no need to feel bad, as i have the rights to eat while they choose to fast right??
#3: hahaha, i actually wanted to let her finish eating, but then she's so dedicated to work that she keep looking around to see if there's any customer.. well, RM2 still money right?? though really unglam lah~~ :D

    ReplyDelete
  93. @ uLi.佑莉:
yes woh, ex-jiran, very hungry and the sandwich really smells good in front of me leh..

    @ edward:
哈哈, 所以最後我埋大大方方咁食囉, 食完就嗱嗱聲鬆人, 唔好霸住個位子, 等其他人可以入嚟食嘛.. 咁樣都OK啦係咪?? :p

    ReplyDelete
  94. @ Leon Koh:
yeah, i guess they are used to seeing people eating greedily in front of them while they are fasting~~ :p

    @ goldflower86:
hahaha, i think the same case here, we bought those nice food and just cannot resist eating them right?? anyway, i think they will understand that.. or maybe too hungry to even bother us?? :p

    ReplyDelete
  95. @ Big Boys Oven:
haha, cannot lah, if stay at home or stay in office, i also hungry by that time they buka puasa.. hey, i actually wonder, all the buka puasa buffet you go, they start after the buka puasa time only right??

    @ Jessyca:
haha, not my waist being small but the belt is really long enough for 40" lah.. wah, a man with 26-27" waist?? no way, that's too ugly lah, for lady still ok~~ :p

    ReplyDelete
  96. @ Ayie:
yeah i guess so.. with that we even train them more on their resistant to food while they fast right?? haha.. anyway, i think they should have been immune seeing people eating in front of them, or too hungry to even care.. :D

    @ victor:
#1: actually i didn't complain, and i also just ask them to punch two more holes after seeing him not able to open the buckle..
#2: that's right!! that's what i thought, just finish eating and leave so that others would have a place to seat.. :)
#3: true enough, she's very dedicated to work, showed her professionalism.. unlike some of them just take break fast as an excuse and do not even want to serve the customers..
