Happy Holiday and Merry Christmas, SK and everyone. So looking forward to this festive and it is YES at the moment.
ReplyDeletewhat am i looking forward to?? holidays yes, but YES no..
DeleteWell, I have the same feeling too, just like you. Find the Christmas decor is not as exciting as before. I didn't really to take picture in front of any Christmas decor, but if my daughters like it, I will help taking some pictures for them.
ReplyDeleteI went to KL 2 days beginning of this month, it was after I came back from Sarawak and before I went to Japan. We went to Sunway Pyramid for some winter accessories shopping. I saw the Christmas decor at Sunway Pyramid. This time the theme is ocean or sea creature. I help my two daughters snapping a few pictures there.
DeleteThe Christmas tree and Christmas decor are pretty the same every year, not only Christmas la! CNY decor, Hari Raya decor and Deepavali decor are almost the same too. All these are to attract customers' attention and improve the atmosphere of the festive.
DeleteIt is year end, most people is clearing leaves and going for holiday. So the malls are very crowded. Some more most places are having Year End Sales. Many people is shopping for Christmas gifts and New Year clothes now.
DeleteBut then, our ringgit is so weak now, can we still shop as many as before? I think I will control a bit this year. I hope I won't overspend due to all Year End Sales in the malls.
Talking about taking pictures with the Christmas decor, i guess only children, lovers and youngsters like to do so.
DeleteUncles and aunties like us don't really fancy to do so anymore. lol!
SK, if you don't find taking picture with Christmas decor is exciting anymore, it means you have outgrown the stage and you have grown up to another stage. muahahah! Welcome to middle age crisis group. No worries, just middle age, not yet golden age.
DeleteWhy do people shop so much??
Deletehaha, in fact i seldom take picture of many things nowadays leh.. last time i will take picture of basically anything for the sake of blogging, but now, aiyah, lazy to do that and also don't feel like taking photos also.. hahaha!!
DeleteYo! SK, I thought I am the only one not so keen to take pictures. I have the same syndrome already. I think we have outgrown the stage of taking pictures of everything we do. I think it is a good change, we should spend the time at the right thing and with the right person. Taking picture ain't important, the best memory is forever in our mind.
DeleteI'm still pretty excited looking at those decor, mean I'm still young? LOL
ReplyDeleteSame here, I still feel excited and happy looking at those decors, especially bright and nice ones
Deleteboth your hearts are still young lor~~ :p
DeleteI'm still in the "wow" category because first time I notice them closely, for the sake of the blog. Next year, probably same like you already hahaha!
ReplyDeleteyeah.. because i am 10 years into blogging already, hahaha!! :D
Deletehaha.. I like the image. It's like tell it like it is - no sugar-coating and stuff. Thumbs up!
ReplyDeletei wanted to go take just one photo, or try to google for one.. but in the end, i decided to make this!!! hahaha~~
DeleteFor me, I am not that interested in the decorations at the malls. Whether it is Chinese New Year, Hari Raya or Christmas, I don't even bother looking at it. Luckily, most people are not like me, or else the malls will be wasting money decorating the place hah..hah...
ReplyDeletePhong Hong, now I know I m alone, I never attracted by those decor in fact, I only attracted by the word "SALES" on the outlet glass doors. Hehehe!
Deleteyeah.. i am having the same feeling too, it's like every year the malls are repeating the design and decoration, just with a little twist of changes.. boring kan??
Deletehaha...at first I thought can see a lot of nice pictures of those malls decorations, then I scroll down and saw that disappointing statement...aiks! mana tau I sudah tertipu..anyway, same to me too, I seldom go mall-hopping nowadays coz of the crowds and same feeling that those decors are pretty mch the same..But I tink this year the malls hav Star Wars theme than chrismassy stuffs.
ReplyDeletehahaha, the first and only photo already tell the whole story mah, i do not have anything to show woh.. and yalor, already feel not interested in those deco..
DeleteToday's post macam blackout post! I thought you snapped the Christmas decors at midnight.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I am in the advertising, so my eyes would zoom in to see the details of all the decors and objectives. I have the habit to stare at every interesting object in the malls and museums.
I am not sure why several countries like Singapore, KL and HKG would splurge big budgets to decorate their malls yearly during Christmas. When other festives come, it would be scaled down a bit. Maybe Christmas is the time when everyone shops for gifts at the malls.
DeleteSo this year, Anay is waiting for Thambee's arrival as a Santa. Oh yeah, my classmate is supplying Santa Claus appearances in the KL malls and he is short handed. He begged and begged me to don the outfit and be a Santa, walking the malls with a bell ringing! God No! I shooed him off....
totally understandable for your case that you would go and "study" the festive decorations, kind of like doing market research than to really admiring them huh?? :p
Deletewakakakaka that is a good one....snap photo during black out.
DeleteOnly Christmas ka? I thing Chinese New year and Hari raya the decorations are pretty big budget also. Only thing lack is deepavali. Like very low key and quiet. This year wanted to cari deepavali baju also susah wanna cari,
hahaha...santa....kaldip will do well in that ..
Not white but black christmas? hahahaa.. Maybe you are used to seeing the beautiful deco.. over here in Ipoh, nothing to shout about but now at least there is another AEON newly opened.. So far, there are three and the biggest one is half hour away and the smallest one is within ten minutes... so I always end up going to the small AEON instead.. nothing much to see especially this year cos I am staying at home most of the time.. hahahaa...
ReplyDeleteHo Ho Ho Ho... Merry Christmas! Santa came here and fainted to see black! Muahahaha
DeleteSent from Hwawei Phone.
black is the new white!!! maybe Santa would love the new color~~ :p
Deletewhat the coconut is black is the new white...nanti santa wanna give hadiah...see all black masuk salah lubang kan susah...should masuk lubang chimney..tersalah masuk lubang indah water
DeleteI used to see a blogger from KL who will share in her blog the Christmas decorations and Chinese New Year decorations in the shopping mall, but now she's no longer active in blogging...
ReplyDeleteI wonder who is that lady blogger?? Hint Hint??
DeleteSent from Hwawei Phone.
the one i knew with the same situation is a "he".. he always like to write long-winded outdated travelogue as well as hopping from one mall to another to blog about their christmas deco..
Delete迷迭香, she will also blog about Chinese New Year decorations, hehe....
Deletehint hint? i know only 1 blogger that likes to hint hint wor...but that blogger i doubt will wanna mall hop to see the christmas decoration....i just hint for poslayu la
DeleteMaybe now age catching up, not really going all over Singapore to see the decorations , only nearby shopping mall when i need to get something...
ReplyDeleteI think Singapore is very rich with such a robust economy that the malls could invest heavily to do elaborate festive decorations. Our country is getting poor each day with rising inflation until everyone is cost conscious now. I even try to avoid using tolls. So sad!
DeleteSent from Hwawei Phone.
i guess probably Singaporeans are already used to the nice Christmas decorations, unlike non-Singaporeans who would go to Orchard to "wow" at the decors and lightings :D
DeleteUsually see is Christmas decorations, but during Chinese New Year period, nothing much, but see that shopping mall in KL also decorates for CNY..
Deleteya wor...now that you mention it, Sharon. Last time you posted a lot of christmas decoration of malls in Singapore...but this year like nothing much. pretty quiet. sien liao is it?
DeleteNow am kira as 'one step higher"...instead of going to the mall to see the christmas decorations, I go to the plats nurseries to see the christmas plants. Wah...everything i see i also felt like wanna bring home but then i know some of the plants will not survive here. But it have so much christmassy feel to it
hmm.. maybe its time for us old boys to do something.. just to bring back the passion for the festive…cheers ;p
ReplyDeletep/s ; no mood to buy present oso.. ( save money ;p )
OMG!!! Danny the Big Mouth is back again. He looks younger and handsomer in his photo. How are you Danny?
DeleteThese days we don;t change pressies and send cards anymore as the thrill is probably over besides cost cutting.
Sent from Hwawei Phone.
errr... BBQ on Christmas Eve?? muahahaha, that was what i always do when i was young~~ :D
DeleteI used to take a whole lot photos of the festive decorations at the mall too.
ReplyDeleteNow, rarely.
Unless there is a story I want to tell. :P
I also used to take photos of the festive decors inside the malls too. I realised I was not a blogger for decorations and food, so I stopped eventually.
DeleteSent from Hwawei Phone.
yeah.. see?? the keyword in these comments are USED TO, hahahaha!! we are all at the same stage kot?? :p
DeleteBeing non-mainstream is good.
ReplyDeleteVery individualistic. :)
I agree with this. Being moderate and taking middle paths is always the best. Thambee is never grows old in heart so long as he still collects soft toys! Muahahaha
DeleteSent from Hwawei Phone.
yeah, we don't have to follow the trend and force ourselves to be mainstream :p
DeleteHahaha, what a special picture in this post. I think you are old... hehehehe.
ReplyDeletebut I am older although I still look at the decor to estimate how much work and effort have gone into the decor.
Deletehahaha, i really admit that.. too old to be excited about those bling bling christmas decorations in the malls already :D
DeleteI still like to take pictures of Christmas decorations. Christmas is very special. But I still love the Christmas decorations in UK when I was there two years ago. They were much more creative and significant.
ReplyDeleteyeah.. i would love to see Christmas decorations in other places, probably those in the malls here are getting boring because i've seen too much of them?? :p
Deleteand i thought i have to click the picture and wait for it to change or something LOL
ReplyDeletehahaha, i caught you!! :p
Deletei don't go to malls very often.. i can even count the times i visit to malls with my fingers for the whole year... as for the xmas decors... i don't really fancy them that much.. and yeah.. i think i'm getting older too.. yikes
ReplyDeletehaha, probably you do not like shopping huh?? and come on, you are so much younger than i am!! go go go, go to the malls, haha!!
DeleteI still like taking pictures especially nice decorations, photography is one of my hobbies
ReplyDeleteBut those photos are taken when I passby the malls not purposely went down to take picture, too lazy to go down purposely
Deleteyeah, you got a point there.. we just 順便 take photos when we are in the mall but not purposely go there just for photos..
DeleteGuess am I the only one purposely go to the mall to take pictures? But got to depends on what kind of decorations is that, if it doesn't caught my attentions a lot, I won't do that! For the Swarovski one yes, because it won't happen that often, then the rest maybe yes if I've free time.
DeleteThat's one that I purposely go take picture one, is the one at paradigm mall because on their Facebook official website, they posted this dr Fokker I picture, doubt it, I was planned to go pavillion to take picture of the Swarovski tree then I changed plan to paradigm mall but sadly it doesn't surprise me much, it looks too fake =[
Tell me about it.... We don't have nice or grand Christmas decorations here in Taiping, not even in Aeon mall, so pathetic right?
ReplyDeleteBut never mind la, already used to it. Every year I can only admire at those grand and beautiful Christmas decorations at big city like KL. Always wanted to go and touch it but no chance, actually kinda lazy now to travel even if it's outstation like KL. Hehe. Somemore bringing two kids, very tiring, have to pack all the necessities... Pack and unpack, hur hur~
Anyway, the snowing thing, macam very popular this year hor? I don't remember if it happened last year. But now as I know, Pavilion and Queensbay mall Penang are 'snowing' at certain times everyday.
My friend went to Pavilion last week during the 'snowing' time and she said once is enough, cause too many people like sardine! And actually nothing special also la, just some bubbles, and when it's 'snowing' it's best not to open your mouth, and no need to look up cause the bubbles might get into the eyes, that's the advice she gave us, LOL!
Luckily I have experience the real snow myself when I was at Korea, so this fake snowing is not something so interesting to me... :p
if you were to go to KL, i guess more convenient for you to just go to Penang, i guess they have some nice malls with beautiful Christmas decorations too?? haha, the snowing thing ah?? i guess MV started that many many years ago, as far as i know and then it was Pavilion.. got schedule one leh the "snowing" but then, errrr, i would rather feel the real snow than those foams la~~ :p
DeleteEh, but hor I like the Pavilion Christmas tree more than the foams, as it's very famous before, this wasn't it first display, last year this christmas was placed in Hong Kong airport duh.
DeleteHaha, true also la, unless if so ngam I got things to do at KL, or attending a function there, else I won't go KL purposely just to see the Christmas decorations.
DeleteYea, the snowing thing, Queensbay also got, but it's just foam la, nothing special.
I heard about my friend talk about it, she said it was so crowded and most importantly not the real snow, I mean like those machines that can make snow one, those at the skiing court, when the snow are not enough so they will use the snowing machines makers to make more snow.
ReplyDeleteJust to watch the foam fell definitely is not worthy seriously and it's so crowded, won't be able to see anything also la..
You see, we live in the Klang Valley where we can get bored with all these decors coz there are too many of them. One year, I decided to go outstation and was shocked to see they have no such decors there. Everything was very laid back with just a tree or two to show that Christmas is approaching. I came back to the Klang Valley and began appreciating what we have here no matter how mediocre they are.
ReplyDelete其實商場裏面播放啲聖誕歌,就嚟好似啲過年歌一樣,開始覺得厭煩。
ReplyDeleteChristmas is getting too commercialized for the past 20 years or more and that's to tempt shoppers to buy , especially for gifts giving. To Christians, there's a true meaning to Christmas and not just merry making and showering everyone with gifts.
ReplyDeleteThere's even competition in orchard road where malls compete with each other to see which is the most nicely decorated malls based on votes. That's how the management encouraged the malls to decor their premises. I think it's not a bad thing as these decors actually created the Xmas mood.
I have been to the klanf valley for the last few years during Xmas and I must said the decors in kl seems on par or better than those in Singapore malls. The better ones are pavilion, Times Square and mid valley. They really put in a lot of efforts and resources to light up their malls. ANd I don't think they repeating the same 'pattern' yearly. It seems different to me.
ReplyDeleteI do love all these decors as long as it is not repeating the same thing every year. I think aeon always have the same idea yearly where they just put up a Xmas tree at the middle of their hall with some kiosks surrounding it. Some malls , like aeon always do the same thing every year. Just get the Xmas tree out and add in some simple decors.
Aiyo..those snow thingy really not a good idea then! What happens it fell onto a baby or kid's eyes.. It may irritate them since it can dyed your friend's shirt !! Yeah it's better to avoid it and I think the management shouldn't try something not safe in the mall. It seems like they are trying too hard to get the publicity for their malls on the decors.
ReplyDeleteI think having some shows as well as Santa Claus and a good nice decor is suffice to pull in the crowd. Offer more promotions and that's what everybody wanted! Hahha
Eh.. Maybe you are getting old la.. Hahha .. I still love the decors as it created the Xmas atmosphere and ambience ,just like CNY, so that we can feel the mood. Hahaha..
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon "self proclaim old man". hehehe jangan marah ya
ReplyDeletewhat la you....younger than me say yourself old...so now i wanna say myself young also cannot liao. Just joking la
I suspect that it is not that you have got used to the mall unya decoration hence the WOW become Hmmm.... i suspect that it is more of the decoration not ngum your taste or not ngum your mood. If they are of minions or doraemon, you sure fly UBER cab to that mall and snap photos liao LOL
But then this year punya mall ...most seems to have the same idea..Charlie Brown and snoopy..RG saw snoopy decoration in Penang and There are snoopy decoration in Paradigm mall...I wonder Johor have snoopy theme or not leh
Why tarak Starwars theme ah for the mall christmas...after all one of the starwars episode is in a cold planet mah. Hmmm...maybe the them is not cozy enough la.
This year only been to Midvalley and paradigm mall ....I feel that this year Midvalley christmas theme seems to be very tame. Nothing much. Like recycled one of the years punya theme where there are giant toys
Yes when i was younger i love to go to malls and see their christmas theme...nope..that time selfie was not invented yet so tarak snap much photo of mysel there la. Ony use my old nokia to snap photos to use as wall paper for my phone lo.
Yes, the snowing mall used to be very "in" thing to do and it noy snowed at certain time. many go there for the snow. jhahaha...that was back then la. now like tak hairan la. And pls dont dirty my clothes with the snow okay. still remember which mall was it that started the snowing business? was it midvalley or was it The Mall in KL? Forgotten already la.
alamak...the snow so corrosive ah till your friend;s baju have the white dot? got go and claim ka? I only felt that the snow when touched my skin ..it make my skin feel sticky...you know like when you go to those restaurant makan where the blow the mist to cool down the place...felt sticky lo
Hahaha...your photo there..."I didnt go anywhere to snap photo hence i have got nothing to show here " sounds very one kind la... anyway...it is not compulsory to go and snap photo to show christmas mood la
like the Church people who came my place. They also got mentioned that now, christmas for many people are about santa and present instead of celebrating the birth of Jesus.
I wonder if there will be mall out there next year would would dare to display the real meaning of Christmas. That is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ Hmmm.... i doubt it la. Else there will be another big issue already ....after all...roofing at certain house project also got people mistaken it as the sign of cross... if any mall dares to display the Nativity Scene...sre will kena tear down liao
Christmas 2015 is a bit different for Yannie, Yannie went to KL, Japan and Singapore in December, so Yannie was blessed to see 3 countries Christmas decors. Honestly, I still found that Japan has the best Christmas decor, I could see those big Christmas tree and beautiful lightings in Disneyland, Disneysea, malls and hotels. Singapore of course very beautiful too, such as the lighting at Gardens by The Bay and Marina Bay. In fact I didn't find Orchard road beautiful, I felt that it was almost the same as KL biggest malls. These are all my own opinions.
ReplyDeleteSince Yannie was a tourist, being a tourist who only get to go there only once in ten years time, Yannie would take many pictures in Japan and Singapore with those beautiful Christmas decors. You get what I mean, right?
that's the problem with "aging"
ReplyDeleteit shows you are turning from "young" the 'wow' to "mature" the 'hmm'.... lol... though we are not really close, but let me joke a bit la.... my inner child is still very young one
ReplyDeletei went to the "straight" mall once for countdown and i got panic and asthma attack when the crowd started to spray those powder, soak and ribbon to everyone.... since that year, no more countdown... count my toes at home this year....
ReplyDeletei just realize you put this sentence to the comment blog:
ReplyDeletesomething like our comments are the motivation for you to continue writing....
but but I just notice you no longer blog everyday... your last post was 5 days ago... don't misunderstand, i don't stalk you, i just remember many many years ago when i read your blog, i noticed you used to blog everyday.... today my angin came back to blogging and notice you no longer do so la. just that
human brain has its pros and cons... pros is that we have memory, so that we don't have to learn again and again everyday. cons is that the memory makes us bored of old thing.... i wonder how buddha can see everyday as a new day to Him.
ReplyDeleteyou are not mainstream, but you are extraordinary in designing and programming your blog... pening.
ReplyDeleteevery year we have christmas, wonder how all these malls got idea to decorate their mall differently without repeatation.
ReplyDeletei usually skip looking at my facebook during festive season... all post the same thing, similar photos, similar wishes :D i started to hate technology now.
ReplyDeleteyou should do something different, instead of taking photo of the festive season, how about buying gift to the unfortunate or cook for the street beggar?
ReplyDeleteor go to different countries and take the way different people celebrate the festival?
ReplyDeleteafter posted so many comment, suddenly your comment blog asked whether i am a robot ... *sweat* my head turn black like your photo...
ReplyDelete
