朋友傳咗呢一個考題screenshot過我, 係香港某學校小一學生嘅試題.. 起初我都唔係好明題目, 詳細睇過幾次之後, 先知道要搵出紅色圈圈代表什麼關係, 再搵出最後一行嘅答案.. 由最初嘅唔明到後來嘅唔識, 我真係唔知答案係咩?? 重申多一次, 呢一個係小一學生嘅試題!! 嘩.. 可能我自己真係咁蠢啦, 或者你已經一眼睇得出個答案, 不過我真係覺得呢條問題, 對於一個六歲小朋友(香港係六歲入小學, 同我哋嘅七歲唔同)嚟講係太深喇.. 又或者家下啲小朋友係比較聰明嘅, 我哋大人自己嘅呢一套準則已經過晒時?? 我記得我以前小一都係開始由一數到十咋噃, 家下佢哋竟然需要咁邏輯地思考, 囧!! 我一定喺小朋友面前獻醜喇, 呵呵!! 話是話, 我其實都有發覺到現時啲小朋友, 有好多嘢要學, 而且仲係比較有深度嘅.. 各位, 尤其有小朋友嘅家長們, 你哋覺得如何?? 你哋啲子女是否去到呢個程度呢??
a friend sent me this screenshot of a test question, it was meant for the primary one students of a school in HK.. i don't quite understand the question at first but scrutinizing it further, it's actually requiring us to find out the answer for the last row after analyzing what the red circles represent.. from confused to totally blank, i really had no idea how to solve this, and mind you, i stress once again, it's for the primary one students!! OMG.. maybe it's just me being dumb and you already knew the answer right away, but i personally find this way too advanced for a 6 year-old kid (kids in HK go to primary school at 6 and not 7 in our case).. or perhaps kids are getting a lot smarter nowadays and our own sets of standards are already obsolete?? i remember we only started to count 1 to 10 during primary one, but now they are required to resolve question that demands for logical thinking, gasp!! i would be embarrassed in front of the kids who solved this, hehe!! talking about this, yeah, i do realize kids nowadays have more things to learn and knowledge taught tend to be more advanced.. parents with kids especially, what do you think?? are your kids being tested at this level??

    2. Nowadays kids here start going to school at age 2 !!

      There's:
      Playschool at age 2 & 3 & 4..
      Preschool at age 5 & 6
      Enrichment classes from age 3 onwards
      Then there's this Waldorf, Montessori, Sichida thingy..

      Then, there are private school, international school, home school...

      Ok, you think kids from the above can solve your maths equation mou?

      aiyoh, never even want to think and straight away look at the answer, so lazy lah.. but i am impressed with that list you have given above!! the kids nowadays really need to start learning at very young age, and lots of things for them to learn and to pick up.. so pressured huh?? hehe

      But I guess like what Louiz said, now kids 2 years old already gone play school. when they go standard 1 they are expected to know plus minus and divide already.


      moreover HK is super competitive leh. sure la they expected to be very advance in math

      eh if am not mistaken there is a study some where that says if one is good in math one will not be good in language and vice versa. It gotta do with our left and right brain leh

  6. Selamat Pagi Semua Sekalian. Apa dei? What a tough Maths formula to crack my head so early?? My eyes went big in disbelief that the HKG kids are too smart at Primary One. Could there be a mistake that it should be for Secondary One?

    The folks there are very good at calculations and some are damn calculative too. My ex HKG boss was a good idiot who counted my working time by the minutes! I hated him so much and thanked him too for showing me that in this world there are such horrid bosses with horrendous treatments on the slaves like me. I am glad I could leave the past behind and move on.

    6. HK life is very competative la. From young they were train to count $$. if tarak good in study then they wont get into good school and wont get good job leh.

      some parents pressure their kids to study till gila and the parents themselves also gila

  7. Whoever created the above has very innovative and creative mind with numbers! I clicked the answers and found it tricky la! I never could have guessed it correct no matter how hard I tried. Later I should ask Letchumi to try since she teaches add Maths and physics tuition too.

    2. i didn't get to find out it's actually a very straight forward addition.. i always thought primary one students only do addition of two numbers not more than 100.. but this question is really testing the logical analysis!! i am KOed really..

      so how well did Letchumi the Add Maths teacher deal with this question?? :p

    3. now, I see my son using a somewhat alien/different method for his maths subject. Something that I think very dissimilar to what I learnt.
      I think la. Didn't really concentrate much at school. Cannot trust my memory also.

    3. secondary schools allowed already what, somemore scientific calculator dei.. only until form 3 we were still not allowed to use calculator, but to use that book full of tables and numbers?? what's that called already?? buku sifir or something to find the sin, cos, tan, log values etc??

    5. but have to learn how to use that book to find the values, else cannot get the answer right?? i mean can still get marks for the steps how your derive the answer, but won't be full marks if you cannot find the final value for the answer right??

    6. I think I never seem to find the final correct answer.

      But what saves me from 0 marks was probably because my steps were usually halfway right so got a little bit of points here and there to get the marks.

      I actually was surprised I got A2 for my modern maths. I think they gave the wrong person's marks to me. Bwahaha

      Don't ask about my add maths results. So shameful one! LOL

    7. kids can use calculator meh now? I only know when form 4 can use coz need to use sciencetific calculator to calculate

      But now, things changed. Really pity the kids these days in terms of schooling, and worry at the same time for our next generations.

    4. wah, 小影 you still remember that formula ah?? i googled and found it from wikipedia only, haha!! errr, just add up the numbers in between lah, should be easier than using the formula right?? furthermore, primary one students woh, can add lah, not yet to the formula level gua?? :D

    5. They are getting smarter because most of them if not all, are exposed to schooling at an early age. By the age of 2, get sent to Kindie dy. Got homeworks to do some more.

      Those who sent their kids to kindie at age 5 or 6 is kinda
      abnormal now.

      Parents are so worried that their children cannot cope with school, they prefer sending their kids earlier to kindie. Which is kinda sad...

      p.s. Raimie went to Tadika Kemas when he was 6. Play play tadika only. That's why cannot get #1 lor... his parents are so irresponsible. heh heh

    6. my frens son also went to tadika kemas and he just score 5 A and 2 B in UPSR exam recently. He in chinese school. very pressure type leh. he only went tadika kemas when he was 6 yrs old.

      i think all this have to depend on the child itself la. some can study and some cant study

I tried to solve it for the first minute, but give up immediately, really very tough la~ Though my Maths used to be pretty good but this one really tricky, don't know is it because my Maths 退步 already ever since child birth?     3. I think next time when Aden goes to school, he has to carry a luggage bag instead of school bag, and wear thick thick glasses, and his mummy has to do lots of revision/tuition for him at home, wah can become crazy lo!!

  13. Oh boy! This is tough. I didn't know HK primary 1 is so tough. Some more it is meant for 6 years old kid. Faint.

    I don't think the standard of mathematics in Malaysia will be as high as in HK. Anyway, mathematics is my favourite subject when I was a student. I am a double maths student when I was in my Form 6.

    2. Primary 1? or is it for Form 1 students? hehehe. Anyway, Maths is a continuing knowledge to learn. There is nothing more than +, -, / and x right? It is just a formula to apply to get the right answer.

    3. Maybe everyone has a chance on how to get the answer. I think the question is quite confusing where there as an big "O" in between. Or it can be either way to put a big square or put a "___________" in between, then everyone is possible to get the answer right.

    1. 1+2+3+4=10
    2. 2+3+4+5=14
    3. 6+7+8+9+10=40
    4. 9+10+11=30
    5. 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10=55 got it!

    Those HK students who got the right answers are brilliant and smart! Don't you think?... Well it is a good practice for them to use their brain smartly. hehehe. For my son, he sure ask me bec, mummy how to do? @_@
