i know, i know, i am definitely not a qualified person to talk about fashion, but i think i could probably talk about fashion sense "dotted line" common sense, haha!! well, we know that in countries above the 23.5°N latitude (or in layman terms, countries with the four seasons), weather are getting colder as they slowly get into winter, what the people wear are of course clothes that keep them warm.. however down here in Malaysia which is almost on the equator, i do see people wearing these latest fashion (from foreign brands) on the street.. my first response isn't about how fashionable they are, but i am doubtful if they do not feel warm and sweat under wearing thick jacket/sweater/pullover/scarf/etc walking around with full ego under a weather over 30°C??!! i will sweat even just looking at them.. fashion-sense wise, of course i can't say anything since i am wearing my t-shirts and bermudas that clearly look a lot low-class, it's up to them to dress up like Lady Gaga or Effie Trinket in "Hunger Games".. but common-sense wise, it's apparently summer whole year round, does it pay off to put myself at the high risks of getting a heat stroke?? haha.. anyway, i think dressing up comfortably and appropriately according to the place and occasion is way more important than loudly fashionable.. call me a fashion nerd but after all, not all clothes suit all people.. remember, wear your clothes and not let them wear you~~ :) |

Good morning!
ReplyDeleteMaybe the thick clothing is meant for a freezing office because what we see is just on the street. Maybe it was me you saw. :p
DeleteGood morning Happy Surfer
DeleteHey, good morning Angeline! Popping over to your blog now..
Deletedefinitely agree most people would be wearing thick clothing because of the freezing office, especially for those centralized air-conditioned offices - the hotter outside, the colder inside.. but then i thought once you leave the office, you will take away that jacket or something?? cos it's really so hot out there, i wouldn't be able to bear myself perspiring under the jacket.. :p
DeleteHappy morning ppl..
DeleteGood morning SK and everyone,
ReplyDeleteI love the way you write this... "anyway, i think dressing up comfortably and appropriately according to the place and occasion is way more important than loudly fashionable.. call me a fashion nerd but after all, not all clothes suit all people.. remember, wear your clothes and not let them wear you"
Jacket? I seldom wear whenI'm in Malaysia. Around office nope too, very rare actually. Office air cond not that cold. If it is cold, it is still tolerable to me. I prefer to wear sweater and knitted clothing - not the thick type one is quite fashionable too.
DeleteGenting and Cameron not that cold anymore. Perhaps Mount Kinanabalu. Remember I mentioned Gunung Jerai at Kedah, you need a jacket there too. It is freezing cold up there.
DeletePeople like you wearing t-shirts and bermudas that is not low-class look ler. That is call comfortable and happy with what you are wearing. Of course according to occassions.
DeleteMentioned about fashion with 4 seasons look and stylish design, there are so many out there, so how can we follow everything leh? Don't make your body suffer just to follow the trend.
DeleteI think you need to pick the months to visit Genting where the temperature is still cold at night especially after the rain. Even a hot blooded and weather-shield man like me could shiver a bit. Of course the massive developments by developers who raped the mountain's forest have caused the temperature to rise over the years. Some nights I still felt that Cameron Highlands was very cool and nice.
DeleteGo up Mount Kinabalu needs a different jacket already. Not only to withstand cold. Kena withstand air also. Brrr....
Deletei'll put a jacket in office for backup, cos you know especially those central air-cond, they get colder when the outside is hotter, or colder when outside is colder.. haha!!
Deleteyes, very true, genting and cameron doesn't seem to be that cold nowadays.. i guess it's because of the global warming and also the rapid development of the places.. have not been to Mount KK but i think Lina is right, need a different type of jacket already - i heard the only place in Malaysia that needs indoor heating is Mount KK camp..
haha, i always go out wearing t-shirts and bermudas and sneakers.. feel that this is the most comfortable for me lah.. and to me, those clothes for different seasons from international brand surely may not be suitable for us here (except probably the summer and spring??)..
One of my friend challenger herself to climb Mount Himalaya. Sometimes cold and sometimes hot. To do that, there's not many places to stop to bathe and so on. So gets a suitable inner wear to warm her body plus a windbreaker jacket. Such a tough challenge. She has been to Mount Kinabalu til the top and last two years, she finally made it to the top of Himalaya. All in expenses includes private plane to bring you to the foothills also cost her about RM10K-20K - More than 10days walking distance. Not many will like to do that. But she loves hiking very much.
DeleteMy company have winter clothing benefits for the Senior Manager level and above. So they are entitled to buy winter jacket, or any type of winter clothing up to a certain amount every 2-3 yrs.
DeleteAngeline,
DeleteWhoah! Your friend went to climb Mount Everest kah? Must be already masuk in Malaysia record books! Congrats to your friend.
I wish to visit Nepal and trek the base of the Himalayan mountains someday but maybe not climb up Mount Everest yet. Too much commitment and trainig to do that.
Lina she are ever ready with training. she runs and jogs everyday.
DeleteGood Morning Bloggers. We do see funnily dressed people around the town sometimes. I am not surprised as they thought they looked like fashionista society. When I saw some teenagers wearing woolen sweaters walking outside their colleges, I guessed the air con inside could be freezing then but they still wore them out to the streets where the sun was shining brightly and hot. I was perspiring profusely.
ReplyDeleteI remember I used to wear winter jackets while attending classes when I was in college and continued wearing them when outside because I was still cold and needed extra warmth. LOL
DeleteEven after an hour outside, the cold classroom temperature still yet to leave my body. I must have look weird and funny but don't care la... As long as I'm comfortable. wakaka
wow, so our Mak Glam is also a hot blooded woman that is afraid of coldness?? hahaha.. but i guess i would actually prefer to be in a cold place than a hot place.. hmmm, i will definitely take off the jacket if i am outdoor, but sometimes if for just a short while and returning indoor, i will be too lazy to do so lah..
DeleteAiyoh, I orang kampung mah!
DeleteAm used to being hot. Not used to being cold.
I not like you all have lived in four seasons countries or travel so much to be acclimatised to the coldness! Muahaha
Yeah, I usually will still have my shawl draped around me when I go down to food court. Lazy to put it aside when go out walking in the mall. :P
eh college air cond memang freezng leh. I pun wrapped up like bak chang when go collegue.
DeleteBut then sometimes when rushing out from college i still pakai the sweater coz no time go toilet to buka.. feel kurang sopan if buka sweater in the classroom la. moreover my sweater was the tarik up type. nanti baju lain pulak tertanggal.malu la
Right?
DeleteOtak also beku when attending classes? LOL
yea lor...tu sebab i wrapped up like bak chang la.
Deleteone time i was having flu. Shivering dah tu. then the lecturer saw me shivering and having flu that darn fella ask them to turn the tempreture colder . said it will clear the nose. Fuulamak....like iceberg jadinya aku. what works for some it doesnt work for me la. habis mampus aku kena air cond. MC 2 days. that time i was part time working and part time study.
i think if ah boy saw my dressing during that time he will say this crazy woman leh. coz after office hours i have to take bus from my office to attend evening classes. So no time to change baju and madi. pakai office baju. but because office ends at 5pm and my class starts at 6pm i had to rush. this means no high heels for me leh. Am amazed some ladies can run wearing high heels. me cannot . so i pakai skirt and blouse (office attire) then carry knapsack wearing sort shoes. run to the bus. come down from KTM daya bumi thhen run ...really run...no joke to my classes in jln masjid india. orang thinks me crazy wearing those baju and running like mad. LOL
DeleteNo wonder Meow maintain her body lah!
DeleteWei! You can run that time. Now say cannot run anymore ah?
Aiyoh... sure can. Come come, practise running again with me. LOL
I no run la last time. But because Jalan Ampang so jammed, I used to walk from Jalan Tun Razak to Jalan Masjid India, in heels. Yup, still can run after bus in heels. Last time, younger can lah. No pain whe running around in heels.
Now tua already, cannot do the same anymore. huhuhu
Our country still practice the Mat Salleh's style to wear formal suits under the hot sun when attending opening ceremonies or formal functions. Just look at the wedding days when the poor groom had to suffer like crazy under their coats to fetch the bride. Why can't the guys wear batik long sleeves or just Nike Singlets to fetch the bridge?
ReplyDeleteDon't like that la Anay.
DeleteYou know you look good in suits. Letchumi also must be smiling when you wear them, once in a while.
I always think men in suits sexy.
Once in a while, for special occasion (like corporate meetings, :P) no harm what.... :)
For formal functions, I like men, Malay men who wear baju melayu. So HANDSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteBeats men in suits.
But men in batik... I don't really like but that's maybe because batik shirt is always loose cutting. For those with "healthy" tummy OK la. Can hide tummy. But not dashing enough la, the batik shirt. :P
hahaha, ya lah, everyone wants to look good.. and in the perspective of most people, wearing a suit can make one look smarter dei.. unless you are a very creative person, probably there will be very rarely a person who will think of getting married wearing singlets!!
Deletehahahaha.. wow having said so much about suits, batek, baju melayu etc.. i think most importantly is also looking at WHO wears it lah.. if you have got a nice body, nothing would be a problem.. and vice versa~~ :p
That said, Ah Boy... a nicely tailored baju can make even a dumpy person looks good.
DeleteThere's a difference when one wear a suit bought at Kamdar and a suit bought from Emernegildo Zegna or Hugo Boss. There's a HUGE DIFFERENCE in price also. HAHAHA
any in suit reminds me of James bond la.
DeleteWedding wearing batik is like...not so ngum type...feels like too simple. Once in special occassion the wear suit la. Some more most wedding being held in air conditioned place so tak rasa panas sangat la . People say once in a lifetime leh.
Batik suit more to formal occasion like meeting type la. Not as a grrom.
yea agree with Lina on malay men wear baju melayu looks very good.
But one thing i have to comment is that why cant they wear helmet on motobike on friday when going for prayer wearing baju melayu? Is it a religious thing ka cannot put helmet on head coz dity. I know before prayer have to wash body clean la. Sorry ah for this stupid question. Really puzzle about the helmet thing,
Where got such thing one Meow? Excuses only.
DeleteThose wear serban exempted from wearing helmet la... Because like the Sikh turban, it's a religious thing.
But there is no such things as cannot wear helmet to got for prayer. Habis tu, if cannot wear helmet to go for Friday prayer, means those who told it to you, cannot pray 5 times a day la... Because I'm sure they wear helmet at other times.
But some people do behave like, use religious excuse for laziness. Like as if, they cannot die la... Haiz
Deletei puzzled about this long time already but dare not ask as yuou know some maybe very sensitive la.
DeleteKinda feel bad for them la rushing to go for prayer but not wearing helmet . some i see got son on the motorbike with them. If accident then.....
Brainy stuffs again when you mention 23.5°N latitude... Aikks... This time, I really don't know what it means until I read your remarks in bracket for layman terms.. haha..
ReplyDeleteOh, I have seen youngsters "lala zhai & lala mui" wearing boots and scarfs with red hairs pink wigs and all in our shopping mall.. They look like they are walking along the streets at Harajuku..
DeleteAnd they think they look so "yau ying" wor... Face handsome or cute nevermind, but face like geek wana "parn yau ying" wor.. Chew !!
Keep it simple is the key la.. I like guys dressed in polo tee's and bermuda's.. Hehe..
DeleteEh, t-shirts and bermudas not low-class la..How can u say that? That also has to depend on the face, like I have mentioned.. If face cute and handsome, wear what also nice la, kan? If face like geek or retard, wear what also not nice la..
DeleteSorry hah, a bit straight forward today, coz no mood ahh today..
SK, so wat t-shirt and bermuda? I will tell them: Singlet and thongs also you "chui" meh? Pocket got money ma tak lo!
Deleteeih, 23.5°N latitude is very common woh, studied in geography during school days lah, forgotten already?? sure there is a question on this in the test lah..
Deletehahaha, guys wearing polo tees and bermudas!! another thing that can turn our LouizYee on lah!! actually i think this is most comfortable for me lah, and then look around, i guess 80% of the guys are wearing like this in the shopping mall on weekends..
but you are very right and i must agree with you.. it's the person who is wearing the clothes lah, if got cute face and nice body then nothing would be a problem lah.. but if terbalik, no matter how nice the clothes is also you will want to puke when you see them, hahaha!! :D
cham...i feel so auntie now coz I also dont know what is 23.5°N latitude leh.
DeleteHarajuku is one thing but another is they look scary la LOL...menakutkan anak anak kecil
Kesian their hair also la...so colorful. Sure have to spend a lot of money to color the hair. Tak apa la. the parent rch kot. have unlimited amount of money.. Not like out time where we go for rm10 hair cut kau tim.
T-shirt and bermuda kira ok la as long as not those pasar bermuda that is rainbow colour. That one will look so ah pek. Bermuda light color or dark color meanig one color then okay la.
Fashion comes and goes...and old man like me, I had my share once...and over the years, I have seen lots.
ReplyDeleteRidiculous though they may seem - I guess those are signs of free expression...and ridiculous though they may seem, it will pass eventually though there are some not-so-young people who are probably caught in a time capsule - in some kind of a mid-liofe crisis and do not dress their age. Still, it's their choice - they can do what they want even if they choose to make fools of themselves. Nobody sees things the same way and I am sure they don't see it our way either.
i definitely agree with your statement, it's all personal preference and one may not like what the other likes.. while i see them as weird wearing thick sweaters and scarves on a scorching hot day, they will also look down at me wearing sleazy t-shirts and bermudas.. ah, nothings right or wrong, and there is only difference, difference in perception and perspective.. :)
Deletep/s: by looking at your old photos, i do find you a very trendy guy, a fashionista back then!! hehe~~
i sokong ah boy leh. Looking at STP photo last time with the lar pah pants...must be very trendy leh. One of the ladies killer maybe? hard to imagine STP as teacher back then. All female students must be drooling at him.
Deleteahem ahem ...how many secret admirer letters did you get from female students ah, STP?
I also don't really follow the fashion trends. So yes, maybe I am like you too.
ReplyDeleteyeah, i used to try to do that when i was young.. but now, errr, sorry lah.. i think i got more important things to do~~ :p
Deletei also didn't follow the fashion trends too~
ReplyDeleteyou are so young and in the fashion city London, how could you?? muahahaha!!! just kidding~~ :p
DeleteMalaysia is so hot and for anyone to wear like what people wear in temperate countries is plain silly. But then again, if people wanna do it, why not? It's up to the individual to dress as he or she likes, as long as it's decent. If dress like Lady Gaga, then it's too extreme lah :D
ReplyDeleteyeah, that's just how we see it but they may not see the same thing like we do.. so i can only give you five, and you give me five, nothing to do with them, hahaha!! errr, i would probably be excited if i could see a Lady Gaga on the street here, maybe i'll go over to ask to take a photo, haha :D
DeleteMore happening in Klang valley perhaps.. over here in Ipoh, most wear summer clothing.. no boots.. no furs.. hahaha... but going for grand functions another thing.. you can see a lot of spaghetti strings around...
ReplyDeleteactually majority also summer clothing, just that few rare cases that i could see people wearing thick sweater and scarf.. i was like WHAT?? is that that cold?? really have no idea, but then maybe they have their reasons to dress up in such a way.. :)
Deleteyes like what ah boy said is true. Majority still summer clothing in Klang valley . But maybe some that goes clubbing then lain cerita la.
DeleteBut can easily spot those that are dating and those that are married in Klang Valley.
Now if those who are dating, can see the girls will be wearing baju like going to office and boy like going to work LOL
I got kinda shocked when i pass by a college in subang jaya. saw some girls wearing baju very mordern and like going for an outhing but hubby says they are going for lecture. wah lau eh ...lecturer sure nose bleed if like that
Good evening SK and everyone... Today i'm late...
ReplyDeleteFor me, i wear what that is comfortable to me...
DeleteHave a great evening ahead...
Deletei was late to you blog today too, haha!! yeah, t-shirt (or polo tee) with bermuda is the most comfortable for me~~ :)
DeleteI agree with you, SK . It is indeed no point yo wear like winter sonata in Malaysia. Though you will look smarter in winter clothes like KBS actor .
ReplyDeleteWah Yan! Long time no see!! Can't believe you still come to spam here after months of MIA!
DeleteHmm I guess you are holidaying now, no, you are holidaying now, that's why you have the time to surf Internet, hehe~
Yannie coming to spam to bag top ten spot kot? hehehe
DeleteI only invest in cheapo winter clothes who even I need to travel to colder country , because I know I won't be wearing them when I am in Malaysia. So no point to buy expenaive one
ReplyDeleteI only buy a few cardigans to mix and match. I have very less thick clothes . Long sleeves also not many . I m very scared of hot . I hate sweating under hot weather. So I will never ever torture myself with fashion.
ReplyDeleteI love to look fashionable and trendy too . But comfortable is the key when comes to fashion.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteSK, I;m coming here to tell you I wore a jacket just now. Not so thick lar. It was heavy rain this evening. Furthermore after work rushing to cinema to get FROZEN tickets. Calvin wanted to watch it. So I have to accompany him then. So weather is cold and get him wear long sleeves and myself wear a singlet tee inside and zip all myself with my outer jacket and a tight jeans - to the cinema. Hey it looks so cool wearing a jacket you know.
DeleteHmm actually wearing jacket/scarf in the cinema is totally normal la, I do that too, in fact many people does that.
DeleteI used to buy a lot of jackets during Uni time, cause the lecturer hall is usually cold, so must spare a piece or two.
Now I wear jacket when I m watching movies in the cinema, and when go oversea, that's all, hehe~
If you're going somewhere during winter then should find better quality of jackets to warm yourself, shawl and gloves you needed as well. But so far, I haven't went to a country which is -ve°Celsius yet. But once experienced 7°Celsius at Japan. Brrr....freezing. But it was just a day after all. Cold weather around 10 - 16°Celsius is still tolerable. I always get my jackets which is trendy enough for ladies from MNG. Even Uniqlo got a basic type of jacket that can really warms you with 2 wears of wearing. They have a variety of colours and it is all season items.
DeleteI have that Uniqlo jacket from my previous trip to Japan. Then now only Malaysia have this brand...hehehe. Not showing off, but try to spam harder before it's too late.! muahaha.
DeleteYea I know, Uniglo has lots of nice and fashionable sweaters! I only bought one thick sweater before from Universal Traveller, for travelling purpose. To me one is enough, cause I hardly go travel also (if got also once a year). Plus this kind of thick sweater sure not cheap, so no need waste money, hehe~
DeleteGood morning SK and everyone!
ReplyDeleteEh Angeline you are still awake ar? Hehe, we are both night owls~
Haiyo still not sleep ke
DeleteSK you really see people wearing thick jackets under the hot sun here? Wow, interesting! I guess that's what inspires you to write this post?
DeleteErm actually here in Taiping, fashion can be quite funny at times, I did see some 'lala' kiddos wearing boots, long sleeve even hats when going makan or shopping, I mean I don't see it as high fashion lo, like you said, wearing comfortable comes first than wearing fashionable.
I think they just wanna become the center of attraction, I mean they are so young, got 本钱 to show off la, if for me, sure a big NO NO!
Angeline, haha soon, spam here first then will go to sleep.
DeleteSK you see I am such a loyal supporter! If no spam your blog now I won't sleep peacefully, so stay up a bit late also never mind la! Wakakaka xD
Actually if you ask me I'd prefer to stay at country like Msia, I mean in terms of weather ha... Summer all year. Though it's hot, but we only need to stock up certain patterns of clothes like sleeveless tops and shorts. So much lighter and cheaper, if compared to wearing thick sweaters, gloves, hats and all, for those staying at the country with 4 seasons. Hehe~
DeleteGood night dear Hayley, should be probably meeting you this Saturday evening?
DeleteMe preparing to sleep too! Tired...
DeleteOh, meeting up? Ok, whatsapp you. I guess we should not talk about our meet up here, else SK will knock our heads, haha xD
Good night!
SK blog is becoming like whatsapp chat la later, like this.
DeleteWe all can borak, arrange meeting, appointments, makan all here in the comment section because everyone will sure come and report here,.
Hehehe
Anay, when can we meet up. Meow has something for you, remmeber? :)
I must say I have good fashion sense *shyless me* haha
ReplyDeleteBut I can't stand wear thick clothings on a warm day, I will feel very warm and cannot tahan.
ReplyDeleteI wear cardigans when cold, only when travel to winter countries, then I wear winter clothes, such as countries like Beijing, can get really very cold.
ReplyDeleteGood morning ah boy and everyone
ReplyDeleteWah topic about fashion ah?
You a fashion nerd? I do not think so lah.. me lagi teruk ka. Go out aje is t-shirt n jeans. Tarak fashion fashion.
Yea sometimes I see people wear so little clothing in cold weather. Can see their hands bulu roma all standibg up and having goosebumps and yet don't wanna where jacket coz crash with the outfit.
Then some pulak wear very thick clothing...aiyo see then wear like that in hot weather , I also felt sweaty for them jor. How can they tahan ah? Chinese saying oi leng emm moi meang ( want pretty ddon't want life)
Just got back from Bandung. Wah clothing there very cheap. Branded punya but they are not in big malls. Its in small shops like those in petaling street. Vhave to pandai hunt n dig for the clothing. No wonder people borong a lot when they go Bandung. Its surely a shopping heaven for those who loves to shop.
Price wise is pretty cheap. Makes me wonder is it genuine. How can genuine Levi jeans so cheap? But maybe those are rejected stock? After all these branded products are producted in indon n China right? Entah la coz I dont have fashion sense punya
But in some countries like Hong kong, I heard people there are well dress coz they invest in clothing. Property wise are too expensive for them to buy so the extra monies are spend on clothing. See tv shows n fashion shows. If the skimpy baju are in fashion, people will follow. Duno true or not coz I have never been there.
But then I think everyone should have some fashion sense la . Must wear appropriate baju fir appropriate weather and function. Maybe am old school coz beh tahan see people go wedding wearing black like mourning. And go to funeral wearing skimpy dresses or like deessed to kill. Orang meninggal la. Should be low key mah. Family tengah sad la.
And then... I somehow encountered people who get offended receiving wedding invitation from Malay friends with a request no to "wear hot pants and spaghetti top" to the wedding.
DeleteThe bride and groom family do it because of adab sopan lah... why must go angry at the families. Muslim or otherwise, I strongly feel we should understand and respect each other's culture.
But then maybe the person also go to work in the office wearing hot pants! hehehe
wah it's that bad ah now? last time tak pernah lihat wor like that punya invite. Must be too many that pakai tak sopan la.
DeleteEven if go malay wedding wear T-shirt and Pants kira not ok last time leh.
Tak kan la they dont know what is sopan and not? See in school compound already got signboard say visitor may not wear shorts and kurang kain kinda outfit to visit the school so should be same to wedding mah
hahaha...maybe that person wear hot pant and spaghetti strap and kerjanyan sit on bosses lap :p *Piak my mulut celupar!*
That's why lah...
DeleteMust be got cases where some people go to Malay weddings (the one held at the housing areas) and wear like that.
You know, later the Pak Haji and Mak Haji will surely complain to the bride's family about them. Not nice la.
I understand we have freedom and should be open to others' cultures. But visitors and guests also must mind their manners and be mindful about the host's culture.
I really cannot understand why there were people who got bengang with such requests to dress up decently.
Before school holiday, a colleague also grumbled, Her daughter's school doing a school trip ang students are asked to refrain from wearing shorts when joining the school trip. She was not happy about it. She wasn't happy that teachers don't allow her and her husband to follow the trip too.
Sometimes, I don't understand these kind of parents. Cannot just follow instructions.
Though I believe it stems from the fact that some people do actually look down on teachers la. Which is sad.
could be like you said la .maybe they are jiran or what hence wore short and cincai baju but must abe sensetive a bit la. So bad la. It's as bad as singing heart breaking song during people's wedding
Deletethese parents over protective kot coz wanna follow. when J kiddy first school trip i also felt like following coz takut hilang or what. Now i just biar aje.
Why the parents want her daughter wear short? wear long pants hot and sweaty ka?
for school trip wear long pants better kan? coz kids likes to run and if fall down can protect the knee mah. No ka? J punya kiddy ask wear school uniform( collar tshirt and short pants) but allow to wear long pants la if the parents wish . His friend who is malay wore long pants to go to the kiddy,
This kid of hers already 15 lah Meow. Haih
DeleteThen she complained teachers stupid for choosing KT for school trip. I understand la for Chinese KT may not have much to see. But to complain like that... The teachers don;t force students to join school trips, right? At least not at my son's school.
And of course, must respect lah. Why wear shorts?
People here talk about all sorts of baju and winter clothing. Shopping overseas la... What la.
ReplyDeleteSad la.
Me kamping girl.
Dunno what you're talking about.
I wear baju kurung in Japan also. Not stylish. Kampung mari.
Wonder why I didn't wear one when in China. LOL
Joking aside...
I agree with what Mama Kucing mentioned in her "mak nenek/nenek kebayan" comment above.
We must look at appropriateness.
But then again, sometimes someone may want to push the fashion boundaries. Whose to say what is right and what is not right.
Today's fashion may look absolutely ridiculous in a few years' time.
Look at 80s fashion. Don't you just want to giggle?
And somehow, what used to look hideous about 70s fashion, look kinda nice now.
Jacket or no jacket pulak...
Jacket can bukak... so panas, take off lah. Sejuk, put on la. Maybe the person wearing that time, in the Malaysia heat demam. Sejuk. So need to keep warm! LOL
Baju kurung in Japan okay mah. Cultural exchange. But now (mintak maaf first ah if i offend anyone) but like the teenager dont wanna wear baju kurung anymore. Like they say tarak class and look kampung
DeleteI remembered my school days many of my chinese friend opt to wear baju kurung as school uniform look nice and most important legs wont kena nyamuk gigi LOL. yeah my school a lot of nyamuk leh. And if duduk kurang sopan also people wont see hahaha...
But one down side of wearing baju kurung in school is that you knaow la when girl get the mothlies . Those time tak perasan and can sometimes get stains. Malu that time
I agree la today's fashion might look ridiculaous in few years time. Like in the 80s people like to wear the "beggar style" lubang here and there.
One thing is that somehow the fashion will "recycle" itself over times. like in 80s baju all labuh labuh...last year the labuh fashion came back with some modifications.
so dont throw away all your baju. in 20 years time if our body size remains, can still wear those baju leh as the fashion will come back again kakaka
Good thing the Melayu (and some Chinese) in my office still have no problem wearing baju kurung.
DeleteFor me, a traditional and simple baju kurung is the best. No need to be so bling bling and wear too modern baju kurung also.
yup...i like the most if tailor made baju kurung coz i can ask them to put pocket in LOL...can keep my purse in the baju kurung so that tarak snatch thief.
DeleteMy old office also Friday we normally wear baju kurung or kebaya, In fact got collegua also from trengganu . each time she go back marang she will borong baju and ain from there and sell to us. Think the ain and baju there is cheaper . Got silk punya.
hi everyone! I'm late! better get my comments going before I sleep.
ReplyDeleteIndeed wearing appropriately but comfortably is my sense of wearing clothes. When I went to work in school, I had to wear appropriately but I hated it when we were told to wear a jacket during assembly. Well, it's so damn hot. I couldn't stand it.
Now when I work in my husband's shop, I just wear jeans and t-shirt. It's more comfortable this way than wearing any other kinds of clothes. Of course, even a dress is not appropriate at all.
Deletewelcomed home, Wenn
Deletesaw your FB picture. love all of them.
One where you wear very thick clothing. Must be very cold over there. Hope you are warm as a toast :)

I aree with you, Lina that this new template is very festive. Four leaves clovers. such a happy thing. Reminds me of christmas santa's elves whearing green baju/outfit.
speaking of I wonder whether santa elves feels cold or not coz saw some wearing tights only with the short skirts.
Some more they working in shopping omplexes where air conditioning usually very cold. I wonder how they can tahan the cold
Maybe SK aiming to ge lucky for December. Four leaves clover can grant wishes. Ever tried looking for them Ah Boy? Or found them and made a wish?
DeleteWhen I was an impressionable young girl (when was 7-12 years old la), I would wish I can find four leaves clovers to make wishes just like in story books! Silly me! LOL

DeleteWe would scour the field area looking for the clovers despite not know how they look like, right?
You remember that foxglove also can grant wishes. Like wearing them on each fingers all night to make a wish come true? Hahaha
I also would go out and look for foxgloves. Funny la when we were kids. Never think that UK and Malaysia so different. LOL
Looked for slugs and hedgehogs in my belakang rumah too. ROFL
Thermal wear... depends la.
DeleteGot some not so expensive one. Got nice ones very expensive also.
I just buy Uniqlo's heat-tech shirts and survive. Not expensive either.
Even wore them to go out running during winter time when I was on holiday. No need fleece jackets or anything.
Meow,
DeleteBuying stuff nowadays, not depends on whether can afford or not la...
Haish... My receptionist wear a Coach bag. I grumbled when paying for my 70% discounted Guess bag. So how?
Nowadays people buy and spend on things for gaya willingly and sanggup pay instalments even, for fashion items.

ReplyDeleteHello!!! Hello!!! I'm back!!!
ReplyDeleteSpot that I'm not even start commenting already hit up to 111 comments….awesome lo….let's make it to 120….wahahaha!!! =]
DeleteNot sure you've seen before some girls in Malaysia love to wear like winter clothes during end of the year??? Cause I've saw A LOT!!! I'm not that hot actually, but once I saw there wear like winter clothes, I felt so hot out of sudden…...
DeleteLet me share about what I saw in my friend mom's friend daughter wedding, I saw this girl wore like a pair of furry thick boots under hot big sun in Singapore…the places is at the park, so not something inside shopping center, I was wonder is she okay or not??? Cause I was almost gone crazy to stand under the hot sun and I was just wore short pants and shirt, can't imagine how she go through that...
DeleteNot only that, I spotted some one wear thick boots and scarf (somehow it looks like some fashion look for them) in 1U….was about to ask, how cold can 1U to be??? Under 10 degree Celsius, I've to say, first come to my mind is "are you okay?" but not some compliment on her fashion sense lo!!! =[
DeleteNo doubt it, I like boots, jacket and scarf very much personally, but I would never wear it in Malaysia, cause I can't stand the heat.
DeleteMeanwhile I'm not good in fashion as well, my sister always laugh at what I wear on because I wore too casual all the time, but at least, I know I won't wear something make myself not comfortable with!!! =]
DeleteHappy December!!! New month, new background, new page cover??? Nice!!! =]
ReplyDeleteForgot to say that's my favorite background due to the four leaf clover, hahaha!!! =]
Delete好羡慕人家的秋冬裝,不過我們也不必照抄的,只要穿出屬於自己的品味就可以了。
