22.10.2013 | 你有奶嗎

[Volume 8 Issue 10, #1808]
one day i was listening to a survey program on a local radio station, the topic that day was to find out how the public perceive breastfeeding.. one of the interviewed lady said "i grown up being breastfed with my mom's 【COW】 milk!!", heard that and i almost laughed rolling on the floor, her mum can produce cow's milk??!! muahahahaha, tell me it's not hilarious!! actually being able to drink milk is a lucky thing, i have a lot of friends who are either lactose intolerant (sure suffer from diarrhea of they drank milk), or they no longer touch dairy products since they stop feeding on milk.. i actually was once one of the latter cases, though i am not lactose intolerant, smelling them makes me feel like to puke instead.. but it was the growing up years that my family members heard of the goodness of milk, so the elder ones forced and monitored me to drink a glass of milk everyday, only then I slowly get used to milk.. now i eat yoghurt on a daily basis, give me any dairy products (even molded cheese) and i have no problem consuming them or likely that i would love them too!! but don't over-rely on milk to grow up well, i am one good example for you to see how it ended up, hahaha!! in order to grow healthily, balanced diet/sufficient exercise/enough of sleep/stay happy are none you could lack of~~ :)

    2. Contrary to popular belief, milk is not such a good thing according to a report I read. If one suffers from cancer, milk and dairy products in general are to be avoided. That says a lot about its health benefits. Enuff said.

Eat actual food for health, not fabricated stuff, supplements included. My two cents.

  4. Reminds me of a joke:
In the morning at breakfast -
The English husband will say to the wife:
Sweetheart, please pass me the sugar.
The American husband will say the the wife:
Honey, pass me the honey please.
And the Malaysian husband will say:
Ooi!!! Lembu! Pass me the susu!

  5. Our society thinks of breasts as mostly a sexual object first, a source of sustenance second hence there are this public objection from certain quarters about public breastfeeding which is sad.

Instead of moms given space to breastfeed without stress, we have judgemental people who deemed the act not seemly.

But I think (well, I hope) puclic perception is slowly changing.

Leave the cow alone and celebrate mom's milk!

    3. I remembered that I visited Taiwan last year and went to eat at the popular Naked Cafe in Taichung. It was very packed during lunch hour and there was this lady breastfeeding her baby without any cloths cover in front of her whole family and patrons. I was shocked and numbed speechless to see full view of her voluptuous melons being sucked by the cooing baby. Adoi! Anay's head pening that some modern mums are so brave. Actually all this are natural but humans start to shy themselves in so many ways.

  6. We are bombarded with all kinds of milk for babiesand children and this caused some mothers (parents) to think that those manufactured milk are better than mother's milk.

    Talk about being kiasu lah...

    1. Yes it is true la. Those mothers didn't read enough facts and got swayed away by commercials. Some promoters give all sorts of freebies and excuses to encourage the mothers to buy milk powders instead. Blame the milk powder companies who are so aggressive to push their sales team.

    1. My brother is a good example who had serious milk intolerance since he was born. He hardly drank powdered milk after being breastfed as he was throwing up and had loose bowels. When he was a teenager, my maid added milk inside his milo and his tummy would get seriously upset too. Anay always helped him to drink all his milk since young just to shut my mother's mouth as we all didn't know that he had milk intolerance until doctors explained later. As a result, I am almost one head taller than my brother! ....@excuses@ *excuses*

    1. I must share that most gastric was caused by certain bacterias inside the tummy la. My wife had so many students who had gastric problems during classes. She explained to them about the existence of stomach bacterias which can be treated to end their years of gastric woes. So they had to see specialists to check and most of them were shocked to discover they had high levels of bacterias inside. The doctors could give them medication to directly remove those bacterias but it takes time. These affected students had recovered completely or faced lesser attacks. Now they can eat ice cream and drink milk.

  10. Good morning everyone. I breastfeed Baby G for 2 months only, stopped partially after I started work. At night, he still wants to latch and treats my boobs as a pacifier.

Talking about this milk and breastfeeding topic, I wish to breastfeed for as long as I can, but due to various reasons, I could only do it for 2 months. I hope I am not offending anyone, but some mommies' forum condemn formula milk like it's a poison beverage. Hey, you grew up with it, remember?

    1. Mother's milk is definitely better than formula milk, everyone knows, who doesn't? If mothers can continue breastfeed and she has sufficient milk, who doesn't want? But due to many reasons, mothers stop breastfeeding and switch to formula milk, that doesn't mean the little one is not getting the best right?

I have seen my wife's cousin in Singapore who bought a mini freezer just to store her breast milks!! She really shocked me with all the bags stored nicely with dates of "production".. Hee heee

The best thing was her father who showed me the fridge told me that sometimes he used them to make coffee!!! Blueekkk!!! I never drank any coffee at his place ever since!

When my son was a baby, I did that too.

Of course must date the bottles and use the older "stock" mah...

That's the only way a working mom can effectively feed her child breast milk. Pump and store.

I did it for six months. Wish to do longer, but babysitter so lazy to thaw the milk. For her, easier to mix powder milk instead. :(

Sometimes the hypermarts had sale and the 1 big tumbler of milk was only selling at 99 cents!!! We would buy dozens to bring home and it was Winter, so no need refrigeration.

She often felt swelling and discomfort during the day. So my wise friend told her to beast feed him instead!!!! He would happily drink the milk quickly in the bedroom, inside the car or even in the public toilets!!! The child had gone to kindergarten and my friend was still drinking his wife's nutritious & delicious breast milk for breakfasts before he got out of the bed. This sick story is real.

About moo moo ah...that interviewee really lucky lor grow up with mom's breast feeding. Not many can for various reason. SOme the mom wanna breast feed but the milk not enough. some mom have to work hence had to reduce breast feeding.

it really depend on individual la. I have heard before that one mom managed to breast feed her son till he is 6 years old...hmmm. very good determination

Also heard from the Pead Brast milk is better from those milk formula coz the kid will not be fat as compared to those drinking formula milk.

From my experience, certain brand of milk will make the kid become fatter. All along j was drinking anmum,...then once time he gila those chocolate milk. Then can see he bloom up leh. Not muscular but with fat. I stopped buying those chocolate milk for him already

    1. Haha why you said you are one good example on don't over rely on milk? xD
Means you used to drink lots of milk but end up not growing tall? Hehehe just kidding la!!

Actually moderation is the key la, of course we cannot overly eat something. But to me, milk is good, I like the taste (regardless of what brands and types).
But my hubby is one of those who hates milk, he will (almost) puke when he smells milk, LOL!

    2. Hmm, actually I think being lactose intolerance is a very sad thing, and very mafan too! Cause there're lots of yummy dairy products which cannot be consume, very sayang ler~

Luckily I am not, and Aden definitely not as well, haha xD
Both of us like milk, ice cream, yogurt and other dairy products!!

    3. And that conversation, actually what is that person trying to say? She drinks her mum's milk or just the cow milk? LOL!
But speaking of breastfeeding, actually mummy's milk is the best milk on earth, too bad breastfeeding isn't really popular here in Msia. That's why lots of mummies rely on formula milk.

Actually I didn't breastfeed Aden for long too (which I kinda feel sorry about), luckily he is still an active and happy go lucky boy la!
For my next child, I'm going to try breastfeed longer, that's my goal, hehe~

    4. You eat yogurt everyday? Wow, seldom hear guys love yogurt wo! My hubby used to dislike yogurt, but after I told him the benefits of yogurt (which is helps in digestion for smoother bowel movements), he now takes yogurt every time we go oversea. Cause you know sometimes we face constipation when we go oversea due to lack of water/vege/fruits intake. Hehe~

    5. Please tell your hubby I am a man who drinks gallons of yoghurt often esp when I ate breakfast buffets in hotels overseas. The foreign chefs make good yoghurt which is yummy to eat with nuts, cereals and fresh peaches & strawberries! Heavenly Ooo la la....

  24. I am lactose intolerant.

  25. Humans are the only species that continue to drink milk after they become adults. And worse, they are not even drinking human milk but cow's milk. What is a human adult doing drinking cow's milk, when an adult cow has stopped drinking and started eating grass? Quite funny right? haha!

  26. Now Anlene is heavily promoting the goodness of drinking Anlene milk. From what I heard, drinking cow's milk actually causes osteoporosis instead of preventing it. So much for the benefits of milk!

  27. And health experts are already saying that drinking pasteurized milk is bad for our body. We should be drinking raw, unpasteurized milk instead. Oh well, the dairy industry will of course do everything they can to protect their business, so I guess not many people will know the truth.

    4. Relates with milk. cheese and all dairy products is better to keep all in the fridge with proper seal. We might don;t know when it is turn bad later on. For outside food, I monitor closely those snack and food contains cheese and milk and even butter as well. Hope the taste is not change. Cos kids are easily affected by it.
