29.11.2012 | 收拾行李

[Volume 7 Issue 11, #1613]
it's end of the year and i guess many are preparing for their year-end trip now.. a friend of mine is ever so excited about traveling, till she can finished packing her luggage three weeks before departure!! don't you find this a bit too unbelievable?? i always do that only a night before, and it really won't take up much of my time because i always travel light.. to me packing is nothing tough, but some people can never get they own luggage properly packed, also there are some (women) who always like to pack for their other half, and then with many excuses (use their cosmetics to) occupy half of the luggage space of the other party, haha!! when it comes to packing luggage, what is your attitude and what is your role?? :p

    1. First sip. Happy. Packing luggage? Ok, I will get all my children clothes, my own cloths, my skin care, my make up products, our pajamas, swim wears (bikinis, ahem!), bras, undies and socks ready.

My husband will get his own things ready. Then, he is the one packing everything into few luggages. Then he is the one checking anything has left out.

    2. Good morning Hot Mama! This post must be dedicated to you in his mind! You are probably coming to the capital soon with big empty suitcases!

      Delete
    3. I always pack luggage a few days before the date. SK, because you are single, I am always travelling in family. So I have to take a few days to pack. But, 3 days ahead the travelling date is sufficient for me.

Thank goodness, I don't need to carry a lot of make up products with me. I only two mascaras and a lip gloss. But then I need to take at least 4 bottles of skin care with me.

    4. Annay, you are so nice to greet me as Hot Mama. Good morning to you Annay.

This SK gives me a new horrible nick. He now calls me starving Hyenas. He is so scared that I will swallow him in hunger.

      Delete
    5. Aiyoooo his CB mulut so tactless! How can he call a sweet Yannie a starving hyena??? Slap this SK mulut. Phiak! Kaboom!

He is too big to swallow. Good to roast him as roasted pig! Please bring your dipping sauce when you see him soon! So yummy!

      Delete
    6. Ya lor, I must dip this roasted SK into mayonnaise and finish it in one bite. But, after eating him up, I am sure fatter than the botox queen.

      Delete
    7. Good morning Yannie!

    8. Good afternoon, peeps!

Talking about SK, the hyena is so (s)excited already~ She has even packed all her bikinis, her priority number 1 in the luggage because she wants to prepare for any stalker who peeps her while she's taking a dip in the hotel pool. Nyek, nyek.

      Delete
    9. Yes, my bikini is the first item i put into my luggage. Not all lah! 3 pairs only I bring.

    10. Good morning Yan.

How many bags you packing leh, Yan LOL

Those traveling with family more susah. Have to pack for kids too. I think mainly kids baju will occupy the luggage.

Ya wor...have to piak SK mouth....what hyena pulak.

      Delete
    11. No need to bring so many stuff la. Anything tak cukup can always go shopping mah.

Not enough bag, can always buy new bag! LOL

      Delete
  2. I always find packing clothes is easiest but not toiletries and medications including supplements. I often left out toothbrushes and have dozens extras now after having to buy them from the places I visited.

    1. You are just same as my husband. We bought 2 new toothbrushes in Perlis.

Yes, when travelling with kids, I need to take along their fever, flu and cough medicines, I also need to take their Vitamin C along.

But then, my husband and I always buy a few packs of disposable panties.

      Delete
    2. You know what? I bought few types of disposal panties for men and horrors!!!! They either ripped off when I squatted or the rubber band snapped making it drop loose inside my pants. I walked around like wearing a plastic bag inside! I have given up using them! I might wrap up the unused ones and give to SP and SK for Christmas!! Kakakakakakaka

      Delete
    3. Muahahahaha! If they don't want, you can pass to my jin jin. So far, he didn't complain about his disposable panties. Annay, you are so rough.

      Delete
    4. I don't use disposable ones but I use panty liners. That save some space for other stuff. Even pants could be worn over and over again.

      Delete
    5. Wenn, this definitely a very good idea to use panty liners and recycle the pants. Good tips for travelling light.

      Delete
    6. Underwear also can wear both sides. Just turn them back and forth everyday!!! If itchy bawah, use talcum powder lah!

      Delete
    7. Talcum powder for men itchy bawah works, but not for women lah!

      Delete
    8. Wakakakaka! I prefer to use panty liner and not talcum powder. After sapu the powder, come home itchy need to visit GP~ choy!

I dislike the disposable panties; like annay said, it feels like wearing plastic bag around, yucks! So uncomfortable~ :(

      Delete
    9. not only u leftout toothbrush. me too.

But usually i dont take fever flu medicine for J. If happens to have fever or fall sick then just go to the pharmacy there and buy

me also tak biasa disposable panties. I rather use panties liners

    10. An article I came across sometime ago, suggested wearing old undies for travel so that they can be discarded after use. Beats the trouble of having to wash them or finding a way to dispose of them.

      Delete
    11. A different school of thought however suggested wearing nice undies so that when one is involved in an accident and requires medical attention, having nice undies would not be so embarrassing. Your pick..

      Delete
    12. As for talcum powder, yet another (health) article I read throws light that a study result shows that talcum powder could be a source of cervical cancer. It made me shudder that babies (esp female babies) are often patted with talcum powder a number of times a day.

      Delete
    13. Yes, I read that too. So talcum powder shouldn't be put at women down under. Same thing goes to deodorant. It causes breast cancer when putting on armpit. That part has plenty of lympha.

      Delete
  3. Now I have grown smarter over the years. Every type of suitcases will have toothbrushes inside. The supplements will have to be last minutes depending of the climate of the countries.

    1. Then my bottles and tubes of creams also a must. Dry air makes my face wrinkled and aged like grandma!

      Delete
    2. My skin care products are in big big bottle. I don't buy the travel packs, because I buy them online. It is more worthy to buy in biggest bottles. Now, I have problem to bring these big big bottles along.

My previous trip to Perlis, I pack them in a paper bag and carry them with my hand. I don't dare to put them in my luggage. Scare they will leak out when putting inside luggage.

      Delete
    3. Aiyo this Hot Mama carry a paper bag pula. Like a walking grandma! I think you can safely pack them inside a tough material small toiletries bag. Guaranteed safe la. I even dare to check in bottles of mineral water bottles in my suitcases that got tossed around the planes and their cargo. The soft plastic bottles didn't break so far.

      Delete
    4. I put my facial stuff into small containers and double wrapped them just in case they should leak.

      Delete
    5. This idea must teach that Hot Mama to transfer her Empress Creams into small containers.

      Delete
    6. Cream and lotions? I keep mine simplified with only a tube/bottle of lotion which can be applied all over my face and body :D Thank God I have good skin, can adapt to all sort of skincare.

Makeup and cosmetic? Just BB cream, mascara, lip gloss and facial wipe will help me a lot. Sometimes I forgotten to pack my facial wash and I used hotel soap to cleanse my face! Haha!

      Delete
    7. Yan., in watson or the similar shop sells small empty bottles especially for people to put in their skin care products. maybe can buy those and use. Pour a bit from your big bottles to the mini bottles . No need to being so heavy lor

then put then in plastic bags . double wrap and can put into your toiletries bag jor. usually i do that for shampoo and bath soap

    1. I am thinking of going for a short trip again to the North in Christmas. Your home town is at the top of my list.

      Delete
    2. I almost forgotten about my own hometown! I have not gone back for almost 2 years I think! That is because my old parents migrated to KL. Moreover my friends there visit KL annually so only missed the food. Hope you will have fun there!!

      Delete
    3. I still have a trip in store but it's locally so packing is very easy. Just dump everything into a backpack.

      Delete
    4. I know, wenn is going to South soon. She is going to Legoland. Have fun, Wenn.

    5. I'm so lazy to travel. Need to pack for the family and return home after holidays to be a overworked slave - the laundry, the house chores!!

Moreover, it's quite difficult to travel with young kids. Need to bring the whole tin of milk powder because my son is the King of Nen Nen. I'll opt to travel near-near for the time being, one day trip. Easy~

    6. me thunking of some local trip. but most hotels are fully book :(. Eithr will head up north or go south

    7. If you are in happy mode, going out for a walk also will bring you lots of fun. But if you are not in happy mode, wherever you go, you will also not happy.

    1. Vanakum Bananaz! Have you had your banana breakfast?

A local trip will be easy to pack. I will do it an hour before I leave! In the end forgot to bring my toothbrushes or pajamas! LOL

  6. Overseas trip during the cold months will start packing few weeks before departure as to make sure the winter clothing's are not missed. If one during summer months one week will be enough.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I haven't travel during the winter so I don't bother about winter clothes. My clothes are are rather light and easy to carry.

      Delete
    2. I only travel locally, the last overseas trip was 6-7 years ago and my passport has long expired.

I don't pack much when I go traveling. A pair of jeans is a must in my luggage. Easy for mix and match. Now getting older already, not very keen on fashion and as long as it's comfortable, it's okay for me. When I was young, I'm such a vain fashionista and I even brought a few pair of shoes to go with my clothes, during trips. Crazy, huh?

      Delete
  7. I don't do the packing. Zaini does.

I just dump my stuff to him and he'll sort out the rest.

Same goes to unpacking too. :-)

Why? Because I tend to forget things to bring. So might as well the focused and neat do it. Kekeke

    1. Now I know that all husbands seem to have bigger roles in packing the suitcases! Some more have to carry them to the front of the house!!

      Delete
    2. lina, high 5 to you. My husband is in KL now, he has called back to remind me to pack this and pack that. He is just too worry that I may leave out something. This weekend, he comes back, sure will check everything that I pack again.

Annay, this is what a Gold Medal husband should do.

      Delete
    3. My husband doesn't like to travel but he doesn't bother to help me with the packing. Anyway, I like to do it on my own. I used to pack for my kids when they were younger. Now they are big enough to do it on their own.

      Delete
    4. Yan, going kai kai again? Where to this time? ;)
Btw where is your good friend Ah Hua?

      Delete
    5. Hayley, this month we only cuti cuti in Malaysia. Ah Hua is busy at work. She will sure spam her later when she finds her mood.

      Delete
    6. Hayley, I will be busy until mid of next year. All thanks to the stingy horrendous Big Cheese!

My hubb is the other way round, he'll dumps all the clothes he wants to wear and I'll pack them into the luggage. Sometimes I have to remind him on what he left out. I do the packing for myself and the kids.

      Delete
    7. hahaha....same over here lina. Just korek out all the baju, pants and what not...let him sendiri select what he wanna bring.

      Delete
    8. Bananaz would print out a checklist to make sure all are in coz would not want to left in the cold. Long-john, thermal T shirts, wollen socks, wind breaker & overcoat should be inside the luggage few weeks before departure. One day before would tick item by item so no chance of missing things.

      Delete
    9. Bananaz, a checklist is a super idea.

    1. Well, this is a interesting topic!
Basically I love travelling! (Who doesn't right?)
But... I hate packing, and, I hate unpacking more!

      Delete
    2. Usually, I'll start packing 2-3 days before the departure date, hehe.. Pack little by little...

      Delete
    3. And like you said, some ladies need to pack on behalf of their husbands also, well I am one of them :(
Luckily, my husband is very cincai, he let me choose and decide everything, haha! So basically for him, I'll just bring his shirts, jeans, undies, socks and hair gel, thats all!

      Delete
    4. We haven't bring Aden overnight at other places but I know packing his stuff can be very troublesome.
Clothes, diapers, formula milk, food, feeding bottles, pacifier, oilment, nappy cream, wet tissue and so on.. Scary bo? Haha :P

      Delete
    5. Then for me lagi troublesome! :P
Apart from clothes, I need to think how to match the tops and bottom so cannot simply bring.. haha :P
Also, skin care products, cosmetics, toiletries, health supplements bla bla bla.. So I usually pack these into smaller bottles.. Save space..

      Delete
    6. As for clothes, just roll them up like most people did..
And for thick clothes like sweater, I'll put them into the plastic compression bag, really save alot of space!

      Delete
    7. And as far as my travelling record is concerned, my luggages never overweight one.. Got also just exceed 1-2kg from the standard weight. Hehe ;)

      Delete
    8. Hayley, you are so organized and you must have gained a lot of experience from travelling oversea many times.

Good that your husband is so cincai. My jin jin is a bit fussy. I can't figure out which pants and which shirts he likes to wear when travelling, so I better let him pack his things himself.

      Delete
    9. For me, I don't bring much clothes. For a two weeks trip overseas, I only need 3 t-shirts and 2 jeans. Third day we'll go and look for laundromat and wash baju. No need to carry so much. Luggage space is for new baju. Kekeke

      Delete
  12. I also like to pack last minute, usually the day before up to the hour before I leave! This is because some of the things, especially toiletries, I can't pack until the next morning after I finish using them to brush my teeth! I am also the one packing for my other half, just because I tend to be able to 'compress' things more :P

  13. Good afternoon

hahaha...thought you would be announcing that you are going on a holiday after long and hard work.

wah packing three weeks in advance ah...manyak efficient leh. Yes, I have friends who would pack in advance too. But it's usually a few days early la . Not 3 weeks early

I usually wait till the night before to pack. Ya me also no need to pack a lot. Just T Shirts and one jean. Usually my bag space is full of the boy's cloths. Kids need to bring more cloths coz we wont know what scrap they will get into. Sometmes one day need to change 3-4 times baju coz get dirty or what

    ReplyDelete
  14. well i dont travel so i never experience packing too many things but if i do i'll probably do it maybe a week before so i wont left anything

    ReplyDelete
  15. i could tekk that your friend was really is excited haha three weeks were quite too long
haha but come to think of it for a guy like me i think ill be needing that range of time to set all things up haha

    ReplyDelete
  16. well a day before? for real? i guest thats kinda risky sk i mean what if you need something that wasn't there i would be such a hustle to buy haha

    ReplyDelete
  17. yeah we do have a little advantage being men but if its for a vain man like me i just dont know,
there's a lot of thing you would want to carry
to the point that your whole closet was in your mind haha

    ReplyDelete
  18. but then i remember this tv show who did a guide about this,
the first thing you'll have to do is to know everything about your destination
    the climate the culture
that's then youll know what type of clothes to bring and also the time you'll spend on that certain place must always be in consideration

    ReplyDelete
  19. well i think ill never what it really feels like until i experience it on my own haha
perhaps someday ill be travelling across the globe nobody know right?

  25. SK, this post of you should be my very good reminder when packing to come KL. but I left out packing my own pajamas and both my girls undies. So, now I have to go buying new undies for them.

As for myself I should go and hunt those sexy lingerie and ask jin jin to pay for it.
