i guess it's not news anymore to the price hike of our road tolls followed by the KL rail transports.. i actually don't object price increase, but it should be done gradually and not with a steep hike in such a short notice.. the increase should not be more than 10% but what we have now is 50% and even more than 100%!! afterall, all factors including costs and inflation should have already been considered for the ROI before they even initiated the project, and hence we should not expect big adjustments in the fares, agree??

I took a photo of this fare schedule at my home station and i wonder how "rational" the fares are set.. if you would zoom in the photo above, pay attention to the yellow boxes i have highlighted.. the fare isn't necessarily proportional to the distance, but fares to some stations are higher than the neighboring stations!! puzzled, could these be the more popular and utilized stations that the authority decided to charge higher fares?? doesn't seem any logical, right and fair to me..

  2. I'll let my good friends comment on my behalf today:

"Under my leadership, our GDP and economy index has improved YoY for the past 6 years!" - I-Love-PM speech the other day...

"The rakyat have options. If they feel the LRT is too expensive, they can choose alternative means to get to work. Wake up at 4 AM, walk or crawl to work, then you do not need to pay the hiked fares" - Ahmad Nasi Goreng

    1. lol! Walking to work or cycling to work are good option if it is safe to do so. But, look at the crime rate, how to walk on the street in Bolehland. Sigh!

  4. A 100% hike from my area to Mid Valley. Just a 17min ride.

Now, I have to rethink about using the komuter. Crazy lah.

As you mentioned, a gradual increase would be better.

  6. The fares are judged by popularity of that station not the distance? That is something new to me, I thought the further the station the less popular

    1. the ministers will never understand this because they don't take public transport, and they don't have to pay for the road tolls - while all other vehicles on the road need to give way to them even during massive traffic congestion..

  10. I am so sick and worried with our country's rising costs of living now. It seems like every month, there would be something to be raised, risen or naik. Even the sporty minister KJ has voiced out the frustrations of the public owing to the gomen's desperate moves to quickly sweep their debts off the chopping boards. It is really frightening to my core and I felt like fleeing from this troubled country.

I wonder what would be the next price hikes or subsidy cuts. In the end, everyone suffers regardless of race. Help!

    1. Maybe Thambee should start riding bicycles! Be healthy, fit and toned besides environmental friendly. Look at the guys of the Tour De France and they cycled until attracted the world's attention.

I would be cycling again soon since 2 bicycles are lying idle at home. Time to get healthy and build muscles too.

    2. For macho men like SK and Anay, can opt for cycling la! If a pretty girl how to cycle to work. Sure get abducted and raped half way cycling on the work. KNS this bolehland.

    3. i actually don't mind cycling provided that our weather is cooling enough to do that, so that i won't sweat like a pig and embarrass myself when i reach office.. but then i think the major problem with Bolehland is that, it is not a place which is safe and friendly to cycle at all..

    4. I agree with you TM!
Every month sure got something naik harga one. Though 'someone' promise there won't be price hike for something, but very soon later, we will hear and see otherwise. Really getting angry at this, what's the point of giving empty promises to your rakyat?

Anyway, as much as we don't like it, I think all Malaysian also used to this trend already. Like it or not, life still goes on.... Just need to save as much as possible...

  11. I used to admire you for saving costs and time for taking the trains everywhere from home. That also gave you a stress free life without enduring the jams but now with the rising fares, it is not so thrifty and cost saving anymore. Their fares hiked was a ridiculous jump on the springboard. What should we do as the rakyat??

  13. This is the sad reality of life here in our beloved country. Semua barang dan perkhidmatan naik! With the GST and all this price hike, even my chap fan is getting more and more expensive. Just the other day I paid RM9.00 for one meat and 2 veggies. Beh tahan liao!

  14. i think we currently have the same issues and errr that's a normal thing to expect from our corrupt government who knows nothing but to take advantage to us tax payers....what makes it worst, they got the worst service too.. our train station used to have technical problems almost in a daily basis .. so that really sucks

Though I don't use public transportation but I feel the pain for those who use! Salary tak da increase but everything else is! Really how to survive right? No wonder people are getting more stressed these days.

  16. I like your zoom in function la (did any body realized this, that you have new function again?? hehe...)

Sigh, since when they do things is logical and fair before one...like the toll, they said they can't hit the target of the exact amount that they suppose to collect cars so they increasing the toll price...aiyo, if really like that why not they just increase to rm100 per car, for sure they can collect them all within a year or lesser than than that maybe!! Serious, right?? Not like we gonna to run away, don't understand their strategic and mindset at all.

That's the toll thing, then now is the public transport, somebody at the TV the one suggest that we should wake up early to use another road, jalan kaki or take a bike to work. Those local news better don't watch it, even watch once...it will makes you vomit blood right away...

  17. That's a weird fare increase! How come some places are more expensive than other places ? I don't think based on popularity doesn't justify the increase as it should be based on the mileage and distance. After all, nothing to do with popularity of the places when it comes to train services. All increased should be consistent with the same factors.

I guess there should be some explanation on why certain stations are more expensive or perhaps you can write in to check?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yup, increased in fares or whatever increased should not be too sudden or too steep unless the organisation is desperate to cover its income or too much burden in debts. In SG, the GST hike is gradual though people do not likes any increase in hikes. Same goes to transport fees here.

Somehow I find it ridiculous to see such a big margin in the increase but then, even the GST imposed went all the way to 6% in the initial. Unlike SG, the GST was at 3% before it gradually went up to its present 7% over a span of time, though nobody likes the increase.
Maybe it's time you consider waking up early and drive to work... hahaha...

  19. Yeah, I also like the zoom feature here. You seems never failed to innovate your every posts or maybe you take this opportunity to test out your scripts..hahaha... Well done, this was cool!

  20. Maybe another way is to consider working from home or request to have teleworking arrangements in your company. This way, you can choose your flexible working time and need not to travel during the peak hours where you can drive to avoid the jam. Non peak hours definitively will be cheaper especially if the trains fare has low peak fares. After all, we all work with devices, even meetings can be done via teleconferences.

  21. I think the government should instead subsidise public transports and well maintained it while controlling the traffic in the city area, especially those which are congested. Yes, introduce some tax on congested area just like SG here to reduce the no. of vehicles flowing in while built paths for bicycles and those innovative skate-boards. This will also reduce pollution. But keep the public transport fees low and well maintained!

  22. Good afternoon SK.
Price hike...haiz BN oh BN....nope...i am not referring to the political party . i am refering to BARANG NAIK....only one hing tarak naik or naik tak banyak is GAJI or INCOME. Naik not in porportionate to the price increase. How to survive. Hari hari aku tanam kangkung and eat also not enough lo. Kangkung also need baja one leh..baja also harga naik.

some more got one very kind and concern minister ...he sdvise people to get two jobs wor in order to fight the money not enough syndrome. How ah? Two jobs....no family time liao.

Yes, i agree with you...the price hike for toll and also LRT and public transport should be done gradually. Come on la....people punya salary only increase 10%...the toll and public transport increase 50% to 100%...how to survive leh.

government always say no money. Then where the money come from to buy new plane? Then why increase the salary of the ministers? aren't the top people supposted to sacrifice first for the rakyat?

Toll price hike...and government say they cant do anything about it. If don;t like then use the roads that doesnt have to pay toll. But think again...what about the petrol wasted for longer route? not including to the car maintainence coz langgar all those pot holes and flash floods.

Okay toll increased...so don;t use car la...use LRT to go to work...but then LRT price also increased? how la. A friend recently took LRT from sri petaling to Plaza Rakyat to renew Passport. The train fare used to be rm1.90. That day she terkejut coz train fare RM3.70. Nearly double the price. Just imagine officer workers who takes LRT. Every day have to spend extra RM4(to and fro) for train fare. RM4 x 20 working days ...every month have to pay extra RM80. Salary got increase by that percentage ka?

Goevrnment said will reduce subsidi. Okay it's fine. But must be gradually mah....sekli increase like this...how la.....hope the government will have a heart and don;t force the rakyat anymore and that those hawkers will not be so heartless as to increase the price of food and those daily stuffs more than 100% with excuse saying that toll hike.

  24. what stations are they that price higher? I am unable to view. But i am guessing that those are KLCC, Masjid jamek , kelana jaya and bukit jalil stations is it? Those are the more popular stations among LRT takers.

    ReplyDelete
  25. what a laugh. You think they really took in the cost and inflation rate before they started the LRT project; especially with so many politician having their hands in the piece of pie? My guess is they are tripping all over themselves on the policy this and that. One side say yes one side say no and another side say maybe. Who ever have the loudest voice win la.

Our big boss already say lo...if toll tak naik then the BRIM will be reduce lo.

aiya...manyak sien and frustrated with this topic. It is as if our hands are tied. Nothing can do about it. Guess need a great flood from God like the time of Noah Ark to clean all these shit
