[Volume 10 Issue 11, #2075]
A Day of (Two Years Quota of) Pancakes
last sunday, my friend told me he has got some vouchers for free pancakes, only valid through that day itself.. what big deal?? we shall just get the mall and wallop them right away, all done!! but he then added, he has got not just one but six vouchers, each entitled us to two pieces of pancakes!! now, that indeed was a problem, haha!! we tried calling up other friends but none available, how could we two finish all these pancakes and not wasting any??
A Day of Pancakes - The Vouchers
alright, finger crossed, we went to the new mall in town, found the cafe and hopped in for our first free pancakes.. i considered that our tea time cum pre-workout snack, we each had two pieces of 5" pancakes served with whipped butter and honey (or was those just syrup) and a cup of tea, all for free.. easy peasy for guys i would say, and hence there gone the worries that we may not be able to handle the remaining four vouchers.. "we shall be back again after our gym session", we thought..
A Day of Pancakes - Round 1
after our workout in the gym and a little walk in the mall, we went to the same place again and handed another two vouchers.. this was our second round, as you know it is not my style to repeatedly post multiple photos of the same food zoomed-in and zoomed-out and from different angles, it was really my second plate of pancakes for the day!! still able to chuck them down, but i just felt these third and fourth pieces were starting to expand together with the first two which were still soaking up in my stomach, haha!!
A Day of Pancakes - Round 2

okay, we had to forget about the last two vouchers that we initially planned for the pancakes to be taken away.. i am actually not a fans of pancakes and i don't really eat pancakes even once in a year, so this was my two years of quota in just few hours?? enough is enough, we gave the remaining two vouchers, unconditionally, to the diners who came in sitting next to our table.. oolala, lucky they were though dumbfounded initially, or probably we were the lucky ones to have others to take over our "mission"?? muahahaha~~

P/S: NEVER FOOL WITH (FREE) PANCAKES!! :D

    2. Yeah lah!!! I agree that this Thambee should have done giveaways or give all the balance to Anay so that his weight surplus could be shared..!!
Oh no, it was a Sunday itself and Anay was still walking the streets of Tokyo. Okay lah, kasi Meow and Kaldip to hentam.

    3. wakakaka....wei..this time period Anay not in Malaysia leh...how to give you leh.

Well, at the risk of sounding like someone we knew, I wanna say "gimme gimme gimme" Kihkih...*evil grinz"

Me skinny like skeleton leh. So not scare of adding fat one....you say yyou scared of adding weight ...so I very kind lah. I sacrifice lor and sapu all the vouchers *super kiasu mode*

  2. We also encountered the scenerio where too many vouchers and it's going to expire on the day or maybe we are not planning to use . Yes, we just gave the vouchers to others diners or those who wanna buy the stuffs instead of keeping them. Kinda like a windfall for them la

    1. This giving and sharing gestures are actually a form of charity and merit making too. We feed others to make them fat also get merits in return. Muahahahaha

However we understand that with the given short notice, SK could not recruit other circle of friends to join them and even the giveaways would require at least few days. Might as well, he and the good buddy just sapu-sapu everything and continue to burn fats & calories inside the gym. Good idea!

      Delete
    2. Did not think of merits and charity at that time. Just being kiasu and did not want the vouchers go to waste only leh. No need to think of merits la. Just hentam and do it. Thinking too much of merits is not good also coz if keep counting then feels not sincere pulak

I wonder if SK's friend is like SK coz this SK save up his stuffs from the time he is in kendergarten till now. I wonder ada terselit inside one of his boxes got a stacks of vouchers that had expired many moons ago and he forgot to redeem or not LOL...

  3. Fulamak! This post is about piggies eating a village of pancakes!! Wow!.. Oink! Soli just kidding and kidding Thambee.

Your pancakes looked yummy delicious and so easy peasy for you guys to hentam 2 rounds. At least you had a gym session in between to burn off all the calories and fats before eating again. Just be happy yeah! You got free vouchers to eat warm and fragrant snacks.

    1. I have tried making pancakes of my own but they never tasted as good as those in your photos. They must have added lots and lots of other special ingredients to make them taste good to sell to the public.

I find that eating such pancakes are the best light easy peasy meals that one could eat when we have no appetite for heavy meals. No wonder the Japanese sell pancakes everywhere and the queue is always long. They just need to stuff red beans or green tea paste in between! Voila!
We can make our own and stuff with petai or sambal in between too. Voila!

    2. what piggies eating a whole village leh. How can we call SK's friend Piggy.... Nanti SK friend shy la. Piak piak laser mouth

Two rounds....got two rounds only or not leh? oh ya hor...you are right...two rounds of each as they had two more spare vouchers in the end. LOL...Anay's Math very sharp leh.

For me it is not easy leh...each having so many pancakes. Pancakes are all made of flour leh. very filling and looking at the size of the pancakes...quite big lo.

Hahaha...maybe SK and pal can go for pancakes eating challenge jor. Eating so many of them

Petai pancakes...that is a good idea wor. Afterall, now pasar malam selling petai pau. Not cheap leh RM3 one tiny pou and the petai they chop till nose shit size also bigger than the petai leh.

Or maybe SK can invent a petai syrup for the Pancakes. Muhahaha...Am thinking of durian pancakes too but guess SK will no want it ask he doesn't like durian. But if it is you and me...i think we will eat alot la durian pancakes. Betul tak?

  4. Not only vouchers la...but also those stickers. Certain hypermarket and a brand likes to give coupon/stuckers. Ask to collect then can buy certain pots and pans at a lower price or for free...usually i would just take the coupons and give to the cashier. At least they got the chance to redeem la coz it needs many stickers. Better than go to waste. Am piss off la at all these gimmicks by shopping mall and brands. Wanna give viuchers but kasi lpads of terms and conditions. Recentky i received a bunch of viuchers giving rm20 discounts but on condition MUST BUY ABOVE RM200 and even that they give expiry date to be on 30th nov. Woi expect me spend thousands there ah just to get the tiny rm20 discount. If i can afford to soend thousand there, rm20 i tak hairan la.

  5. 6 vouchers equal to 12 pancakes. Hmmm....if tiny pancakes like mak dong lou then i think no problem for you guys to finish it off la.in fast one dozen also not enough to make you guys full leh.

But the ones in the photo looks huge. The size of a rice plate wor. Adui...i no eyes see lo.only two of you? Each ate 5 pancakes. Like that dinner supper lunch also no need to eat la. Pancakes can be very filling keh

  6. Wahhhh... rugi I wasn't beside SK when he was giving out the vouchers!

  7. So you already makan pancakes until jelak? :)

  10. Hahaha, but hor, at first, I seriously thought that you and your friend gonna to have pancakes for the whole day. For me, I'm not a pancake person, don't say two pancakes, one pancake also I might not be able to finish it, indeed it's a very filling food to me, hehe!

    1. I can wallop few pieces of pancakes at once, seriously, hehe, I have big appetite for desserts one. That's why so hard to shed off those fats, but what to do? Born to love dessert~
I think if you ditch those syrups/topping, you can eat a bit more. Cause those syrups are sweet and can be very filling and 腻.

Anyway, I say I can wallop a few pieces at once, that also depends on the size of the pancake la! It big and thick one, may be 3 is maximum kua~ Hehe...

    2. Hmm your post actually remind me that it's been a while since I last had pancake! Usually I cook my own pancake la, here hardly got nice pancakes around, unlike KL got those cafes with nice pancakes~~

  13. So good have free vouchers

    ReplyDelete
  14. 6 vouchers, 2 pancakes each, actually easy-peasy for guys, like you said.. Not only guys, but girls (or someone with family), but I think ok kot.. If me, maybe eat 3 vouchers for 1 meal, means each one gets 3 pancakes.. I believe it will taste like heaven on the first bite, or first meal, but when it comes to the second meal, maybe a bit jelak already..

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. But actually it depends on the topping and sauce also.. If just honey and butter, I prefer it for breakfast.. If lunch, maybe something more fancy, say, ice cream with strawberry jam.. If dinner or takeaway wana sapu the last 2 vouchers also, I'll heat up at home, eat with fried/scrambled eggs and mayo, and cheese..

      Delete
    2. That place quite smart also.. Do 1 day free voucher.. So can only eat that day.. If near to house/workplace, then ok la.. If too faraway, takkan purposely drive all the way there for free 2 piece of pancakes hor.. But I have to say, from you picture hor, the pancakes look really fluffy and fragrant.. I can't make that at home..Usually at home, I just whip up the flour, eggs and water.. No milk, no sugar.. Everything agak-agak..End result still s pancake, edible, put butter+jam, still nice.. But not as fluffy as in your picture..

      Delete
    3. I'm a big eater, but I can't finish all your 6 vouchers if I'm your friend.. Maybe maximum, 2 vouchers.. 4 pieces of pancakes, no problem.. Even if eat-in.. If takeaway, lagi baik, I go home eat with hotdogs, egg, mayo, cheese, add this that.. Or can keep for next day breakfast in office, just heat up, put peanut butter maybe..

    4. I definitely cannot eat more than 2 pancakes a day. I was amazed that Thambee and his friend could swallow them all. They must have got some hidden spare tyres that cannot be seen!

Oh I love to smear the pancakes with hot butter, honey and strawberry jam too!

  15. Pancake is my favourite. I love pancakes. My mom used to make us pancakes when I was a kid. So now, I also make pancakes for my daughters. I teach them how to make pancakes too.

Your pancakes are sinfully delicious. How I wish I got the free vouchers! How come I don't have any free vouchers like your friend one. I always need to pay money to get to eat what I like. I never get any free lunch, free dinner or free breakfast like you guys.

By the way, 2 pieces of pancakes for two rounds, one round before and one after the work out, sap sap water la! I would take away another 2 pieces home actually, I couldn't finish on the same day, I would freeze and reheat on the next day.

    1. Now I have got chance to have my breakfast, I feel so hungry looking at your pancakes.

I love pancakes plain without any topping. If I have bananas, I will make bananas pancakes. My MIL makes pumpkin pancakes for us too, very delicious.

My mom added oats in the pancake last time.

Your free pancake voucher stated classic pancake. Meaning that was those traditional one without additional flavour.

I see you putting honey and ice cream on top, fulamak! Must be very yummy. But then pancake is made of flour, butter, sugar and eggs. These ingredients are good for my children who are still growing up. Yannie will actually avoid taking pancakes everyday, once in a while ok-la!

Because pancakes are quite fattening too. It is high in carbs.

      Delete
    2. Wow! I am hearing for the first time about pumpkin pancakes besides adding some oats inside too. That sounds more delicious and yummy. That way we might also add in bananas like how the famous Penang hawker stall is selling in Pulau Tikus Coffee Shop. Every day he has a long bee line of regular customers who tabao all his banana pancakes that smells so good from miles away. He even added some raisins with the bananas! Take note that I observed he used just one type of banana species which he refused to disclose and one brand of butter which I have forgotten too. I guess expert chefs are very particular of the type of brands and fruits used. I suspect it was pisang rajah or berangan as the sizes looked medium.

      Delete
    3. My MIL would add many things in the pancakes, she would add spinach and carrot too. Then we would eat those pancakes with some Kampung Koh chili sauce, yummy la!

      Delete
    4. Huh? Add so many things? May I asked the adding carrot the one, is that cooked carrot or the one haven't cook one?

    1. Muahahaha! I think they were happy to see 2 kiasu gluttons who loved their pancakes and returned again on same day without sharing the vouchers! Oh well, these outlets save more money that putting ads into newspapers that could cost several thousands and no one read their advertisement. So it is cheaper and more effective to give free vouchers which would guarantee at least 50% of the potential customers showing up at their new outlet. It is a win-win thing and works better. If they spent thousand ringgits and no one shows up, it would be a great embarrassing day for them and make no profits to cover. Better print vouchers from their own office printer for RM2.00 and invest some RM200 for the flours, eggs and butter to make free pancakes for 500 customers to enjoy free. This would generate future sales from such happy and satisfied customers like SK Thambee and his friend la. Next time I make sure that Thambee ajak Anay go makan together. Jom!

  17. lol. But, who does't like freebies, especially aunties like me. I love freebies. If I have ten vouchers for free pancakes. I will also do the same la!

I will not take SK's advice this time, I will still fool with free pancakes.

If can take away lagi best, I will take away and freeze them. I will then put in microwave to "ding" and eat for the subsequent days. Then, my face and waistline will be round like pancakes also. Hehehehe!

    1. I don't think they would ever allow freebies to be taken away like that. They are looking for customers to sit inside their new outlets like decorative puppets and dolls to attract passing by customers. SK should have gone to the Daiso outlet to but a huge 100 Yen tupperware to scoop the pancakes inside, unnoticed and bring home for Anay!! Yippy!

  18. Six vouchers which means 12 pancakes ie 6 pieces each. That is a lot of pancakes. Seeing that they are 5" pancakes, I can eat 4 in one sitting. Then a few hours later can eat another 2 hee,,,hee...

    1. But it's bad to eat too much until feeling stuffed. Good also lah that you all gave away the vouchers. That way, it is not wasted and also considered a good deed lah.

      Delete
    2. I also counted the pancakes and had sudden jolts of goosebumps that Sk and his friend had to swallow so much carbo and flour! Muahahaha

That would require them to run another 2 hours like Mice on Treadmills to burn off all the thick layers of belly fats! I won't mind resorting to such tactics to get free makan and then exercise like grueling army battalions!

  19. Which eatery is this? From the voucher alone I could not tell. So nice of the eatery that one party of two pax can redeem two vouchers (one pax one voucher). Some vouchers have T&C that a group of diners can only use one voucher each time. Or some vouchers have conditions that say must buy other food, then only can redeem the free pancakes. Plain pancakes with syrup and butter only - can understand why you feel jelak after eating 4 pancakes with a gym break in between. So the waitresses at the eatery can recognise you both when you went there to use the vouchers after gym? Did they make any remarks like - eh, back again to use up free vouchers so fast? If cannot use the remaining vouchers good to give away. I also give away last time but dunno those people will use or not. Sometime people think there may be udang sebalik batu so may not use the free vouchers, scared got kong tou or black magic contained in the free vouchers. Good lah you both gave away the vouchers.

    1. It is definitely a new eatery. I strained my eye balls out to see but no name as SK Thambee is good at hiding names and mistresses as well. LOL

I only saw its 2 locations, so I plan to check out which new pancake shops this weekend.

  21. muahahahahaha.... if you asked me to eat two pancakes for breakfast at McD, that will last me till late afternoon. It's not that pancakes are full but it's very filling or in other words, curb your hunger till you don't feel like eating anything else till it is entirely digested. And, moreover, it's sweet too which makes it even more filling.

Usually, I will put as little syrup onto it and a little butter too as I don't think I can eat it too sweet. Preferably the pancakes must be hot as it's more delicious. I think pancakes are same as the indian naan , it grows in your stomach ..hahahhaa... That's why we feel so full after eating it as well as it's best to eat it hot. It's not as fluffy when it's cold!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I can eat more pancakes than Naan which I am not sure what they put inside. I would suffer from bad flatulence each time I ate the naan breads anywhere. I won't have such issues eating their roti chanai or murtabak.
Pancakes are fattening but won't make anyone suffer from flatulence.

The pancakes served at mcD outlets are so small. I am sure Sk could swallow down 10 pieces at one GO! That is Thambee!

  22. aiya... you should have taken 1 voucher which entitled you to two pancakes and settled it for lunch. hahaha... Having four pancakes (plus two) in a day is really, really too much!! Luckily, you let go the 5th and 6th else I am not sure if your digestive system can take it! If it's me, I might vomit...hahaha.. Oh, you can always pack it and bring home for your sis or family member. Put it in the microwave and that's it! hahahaha...

And your friend also la, how come he didn't use the vouchers till last minute!!! There are 365 days for him to consume the pancakes and he can happily have it for breakfast anytime he likes.. hahahhaa...

OK la.. sometimes it's good not to wastage, we also cannot anyhow try to save the food. It's just like eating buffet, though we paid for it, there's no point to keep eating beyond our capability. Thus, no choice la, just take as much as we can and let go the rest or can give it to strangers too, since it's a voucher. Just pass it to some sales personnels at the malls or guards. They may like it!

    Replies
    1. I think you misread like sotong again. That voucher was only valid for one day usage and not given a long duration period. So the poor friend had to look for gluttons to help finish it. Surely SK Thambee fits the role. Muahaha

Eh how to tabao home when people give free nia. So kiasu la, I know in the republic got people bring plastic containers to bring food home from weddings, functions and events. I must learn to do that and feed the homeless beggars at night.

  23. Alamak...you had two pancakes then you workout and then later come back for another two pancakes..hahahaha... I guess if its me, I needed to break for 2 hours before I can workout after eating two pancakes else I may throw out when I run. Probably just take one before workout to give myself some energy like I had some waffles pancake for tea.

Luckily the pancakes did not come with special ingredients like banana cubes and etc else it's even fuller for you. I knew some shops likes to add all sorts of ingrerdients to their pancakes to give their customers more varieties. :)

So, I assumed you wouldn't have pancakes for a long time now ! hahahah...

    1. I think they ate the pancakes and headed to the gym's treadmills to run 20km before roasting inside the hot sauna to burn off the pancake calories. After that they went to eat the pancakes again before running another 20 km and baking inside the sauna. That was sure fun dei.

Why won't he eat pancake again very soon? In America, I saw many people could eat cornflakes and pan cakes every morning with a tall glass of milk. They are probably less fussy than us.
