I also like fridge magnet, but didn't collect it, I just collect for my family one, especially go to those places buy their landmark building is the most attractive one!! Choose those 3D one, not the flat plain one; choose any materials but not the plastic one, hehe!!!
ReplyDeletei like fridge magnet to commemorate the places i have been, 2D or 3D, plastic or not plastic also can as long as it looks nice, haha!! and preferably the design has got the name of the city itself, hahaha..
DeleteGood Morning SK, I love fridge magnet too. I had many now. Jin Jin would buy fridge magnet when travelling too.
ReplyDeleteThis gift shop is cool, when I miss out anyone for souvenir, then I must remember to go to this place to buy fridge magnet.
DeleteFridge magnet is better than key chain, I think so, but table cloth is even better. I had the Mount Fuji one, I like it so much.
DeleteTalking about fridge magnet, I received the Singapore fridge magnet from Anay and Melacca one from Angline.
DeleteI prefer to send postcards from anywhere but the biggest headaches I ever had was looking for the postcards and then the post office! Adoi Adoi....
DeleteIn Japan, it was tough to find postcards. In China, it was easy to find postcards but they like to force you to buy them in bulks of 20 cards a packet which contain many ugly cards inside. In the end, I could only use a few inside and had to buy 3 packets! The best headaches was looking for post offices in China which looked like glamourous banks from outside. In Japan, can even send cards from Family Marts! So easy!
Fridge Magnets are now getting expensive in Singapore and Japan. Next time I ask SK to custom-make and sell to me. Muahahaha
Custom-make fridge magnets by SK must be all his usain bolt running pose picture la! I don't mind to get it free from SK. Wakakaka! Please consider this idea as your year-end chart award gift.
Deleteyeah, i have a habit to get myself a fridge magnet when i go travel, to commemorate the place i have been.. of course, the price have to be reasonable and the design nice before i consider buying.. not just buy for the sake of buying :p
Deletepostcards would be another nice thing too.. not just buy them and bring home, but it would be a lot more meaningful if we can SEND it from the place, get a stamp and to have the postal stamping on it.. that surely records the date and place for a good remembrance..
haha, custom made Usain Bolt pose magnet?? nah, will never do that.. or maybe get Anay to pose for that, and then Yannie to pose with her bikini :p
If me, i won't buy unless i go to that country, then i buy..
ReplyDeleteyeah, agree!! though they are all the same probably all Made in China, but the meaning is different right??
DeleteMorning morning.. Eh I thought today you didn’t publish any post timm.. Been waiting and hogging by my pc liao, since I published a post this morning.. Mana tau, come back and check again, oohhh you got updates already..
ReplyDeleteSo, today is about fridge magnets huh.. *scroll up and see again* This shop is cool, man !
DeleteYep, you are right, I can see fridge magnets from all over our planet.. All of them? Every city, every country? Interesting.. Where is this shop? Not that I’m interested to go buy, but just asking, for the sake of asking, and 8-ing, keke..
DeleteTo me, I think going to the country and buying magnets from there feels more satisfying la.. I think many people would agree with me.. Unless that person already has all the fridge magnets from all over the world, except one, say, like the Moscow one, then MAYBE, just MAYBE that person wou.d consider getting that Moscow fridge from this shop kua.. Else, I don’t think magnet collectors will sekali come to this place and buy all the magnets from different countries kua, just my guess..
DeleteI don’t travel much, so I can’t comment too much either la.. Depends on people kua.. Some don’t mind buying from here, for the sake of buying and collecting.. Some pulak, prefer to buy only when they visit the country, feels more “uumph” kua, feels like they have left their footprints there baru syiok.. Just my guess la..
DeleteAiya, sorry ahh, I tokok today, hehehe.. All I do is stay at home, take care of the boys and cook ABC soup at home.. But I think this shop would be useful and come in handy when people who travels forgot or too busy to buy souvenirs.. Then can cepat-cepat drop by this shop and quickly get something kua..
DeleteI like fridge magnets, but I don't collect it, coz I don't travel often.. People give, I take.. Some I put in office and stick it near my processor, those nicer ones, I take home and put on my fridge.. Like that lor..
DeleteHope I've not digressed too much, talking about ABC soup here, kekeke.. But really, all I do is stay home and cook ABC soup, a bit jakun lor when it comes to travel post or things like that.. dare not comment too much la, bikin malu..
DeleteBy the way Groupon is giving two photobook each person for free, I just bought two yesterday.. BUT I'm having a hard time copying all the photos from my dropbox to my desktop, coz I'll be working from my desktop.. Gawd, this could take forever !!
Deleteif people give then just treat it as souvenirs lor.. but if i go travel to that place myself, it makes more sense to actually buy one for collection, nice to see the different places i have been, and also to motivate myself to earn more money to go to places not on the fridge door yet, haha..
DeleteFYI saw these fridge magnets in the S&J gift shop in MV.. actually quite nice lor to be frank, haha..
Locally made? Nah, they're all Made in China one lah, whether sold here or in Paris or Sydney. Don't think you buy a fridge magnet in Venice then it is made in Italy LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnd, what's Melaka doing in the midst of those international cities?
China makes almost everything in this world now from fridge magnets, moon cake boxes including fake chicken eggs! What is there they cannot make when they could send their men to the moon and outer space too!!!
Deleteooopsss, sorry not locally made but locally sold, gotta agree with you probably they are all made in China and distributed worldwide.. but then, i don't think they put the word "Made in China" in these cheap souvenirs like keychains and fridge magnet lah, cannot justify the cost, haha!! so it's actually safe to buy.. but if you are buying more expensive ones, better see carefully.. :D
DeleteMy brother once bought me a souvenir from UK and then I found the exact same thing at MPH. So it looks like such souvenirs be it key chains or other items are not so exclusive and can be found locally.
ReplyDeleteWhatever it is, it is the thought that counts. So even if you bought me a "souvenir" from Petaling Street, I would still appreciate it :)
DeleteNext time buy you a packet of taufu fah that is "imported" from the UK ;)
DeleteI like taufu fah :D
Deletehahaha, so did you tell your brother that you can get the same from MPH here?? or he actually missed out your souvenirs and then went to MPH to get you one?? hahahaha.. just kidding :p
DeleteEh .... buy from overseas more valuable and priceless too. Sekali those you bought here are made in China ....lol....
ReplyDeletenot only here, in fact i can probably say that all are made in China and then distributed worldwide.. haha!!
DeleteBtw , I seldom came across any fridge magnets which acts like souvenirs showing other countries monuments and etc. Mostly are fishes , huts ....etc. These magnets can he handy for bills , reminders and etc. My wifey loves it.
ReplyDeletehuh?? that means you seldom look for fridge magnets!! they come in all kinds of shapes and designs and materials lah.. i actually prefer those that carries the name of the city and landmark..
DeleteSo , where is this shop ? Ok la....If forgot to buy for some important person , can buy here to cover up....hehehhe. ... nobody knows. :P
ReplyDeletesaw these in S&J gift shop at MV, i think all their outlets should have the same..
DeleteHahaha Chris...
DeleteDoubt if nobody knows because it's already sold in plenty of places! wakaka
maybe he can buy for his friends in SG, they may not know :p
DeleteAt the first glance of your photo, I thought you are collecting stamps !!!
ReplyDeletehaha, yeah, you are right!! but then one stone kills two birds lah, got magnet and stamp mah~~ :D
DeleteSo , did you find any magnets featuring ramen a or yubari melons ? Haha ah. ....
ReplyDeletehahaha, i didn't notice that actually.. i bought the real ramen and melons to eat instead of them on magnets lah~~ :D
DeleteSame as Sharon, I won't buy unless I been to that country, more real, hee hee
ReplyDeleteyeah, the meaning is so different right?? i won't buy "souvenirs" locally also lah..
DeleteI hv seen such magnets before but I wouldn't buy any as I still prefer to get from the original place. Frankly speaking, it's not a bad idea after all should we miss the magnets from the places that we visited before.
ReplyDeleteyou are right, totally agree!! if i've not been to the place, no point buying.. but if i've been there and missed out buying, this can actually be quite a "tempting" alternative, haha~~
Deletei love fridge magnet and got collecting....
ReplyDeleteEverytime if got go anyplace will buy their trade mark magnet to keep :)
oh yeah, i collect fridge magnet also.. nice to see all the places you have been when you look at your fridge huh?? :)
DeleteAGREE! LOL
ReplyDeleteI buy from here and pass it out to frens. Hahahah
hahaha.. if you buy one for me there, i'd convince myself that you have actually been to the place :D
DeleteBut now kenot dy lah... since rahsia pecah! Muahaha
Deleteooopsss, my bad to bocor the rahsia!!!
DeleteAnyways, almost everything is Made in China now, even souvenir items so what's the difference? heh heh
ReplyDeleteno difference on the thing but then the meaning is different lah, haha~~
DeleteSelamat Petang Bloggers sekalian!!!. Sudah habis makan lunch? 1 hour more tea break.
ReplyDeleteToday is about fridge magnets. I am sure everyone has magnets at home on their fridges! Who doesn't have souvenir magnets??? Tell us and the bloggers will send you some!
okay okay, I DO NOT HAVE SOUVENIR MAGNET!!!
Deleteso everyone, please send me some when you go travel next time :D
I have been debating about fridge magnets and key chains from overseas. When I received magnets from friends, I felt funny to stick them on my fridge because I didn't visit that place. The other day I was looking through the colourful magnets on my fridge door and asked my wife when we ever visited 3 places?? She smiled and said someone gave them. Best of all, we could not even remember who??? Bwahahahaha! Maybe we should write our names on it before giving the magnets to anyone.
ReplyDeleteI received several key chains from blogger and friends too. They are so useful actually as I used them all. One went to Taipei and bought those expensive Swarovski Crystal ket chain. Amboi... Mahal nia and I dared not use it for fear of breaking it. Not a practical present.
DeleteOoo~ I agree totally with annay. My fridge door is full of magnets from near and far; and am embarrassed to admit I can't remember some were from which friends.
Deletehahaha, that actually make sense.. so probably we have to separate the fridge magnets given as souvenirs by others and fridge magnets we bought ourselves on two sections on your fridge, then you won't be confused.. haha!!
Deletei would prefer fridge magnets than keychains actually.. *hint hint*
Where is this shop? I wanna go and get some to tipu my wife's students because she often had to reject their invitations to join the students for their vacation trips during semester breaks. I had to pretend to talk in front of the students that I was bringing their teacher somewhere far away. They would stalk her FB pula. At least the magnets might help!!! Thambee always got tricks and pranks up in his sleeves!
ReplyDeletesaw these in the S&J gift shop in MV, i guess they have the same at all their outlets.. Anay can bring Letchumy there and borong magnets from different countries to give them to her students :D
Deletei'm not an avid collector or fridge magnet..i received too many until throw away some. Now i choose one best from each continent and keep it. BTW, where is this shop? got all countries in the world?
ReplyDeletewow, that means you have been to so many places already!! how nice.. this shop was S&J in MV, errr, not all the countries in the world, just a few that i've shown in the photo..
Deletetypo: i'm not an avid collector OF fridge magnet
ReplyDeletei love fridge magnet, haha~~ :p
DeleteYeah lor. When I traveled last time, I don't buy fridge magnet. Now only regret. Maybe should go buy them now to fill up my bare fridge :D
ReplyDeletewhen i started buying my first fridge magnet, i also regret i didn't buy any earlier.. and you are right, this shop is a nice place for the "lost and found"~~ :D
DeleteHello hello SK and everyone!! I am back, but I think no one miss me la ho? Kekeke..
ReplyDeleteEh at first glance I thought it's stamps tim... Haha, they made the fridge magnet looks like stamps la, see the curvy edges, really like stamps.
This shop is very interesting, and smart business brain too, really can go there buy and cheat people that we just came back from oversea, hahaha, so convenient! But price, I wonder expensive or not? Since it's selling 'oversea' stuff, and did you mention where is this shop?
Speaking about fridge magnet, I just bought 2 back from my recent oversea trip, hehe, one is for myself (stick at my mum's fridge actually) and one is for a lucky reader (that means I am going to organize a giveaway soon). I have this habits of buying frige magnet and postcards whenever I go oversea, so far I have quite a lot of them already at my mum's house, since 2008 la I guess, the year I started travelling. As for keychains, hmm not really. I think keychains is kinda 'useless' if compared to keychain, just my personal thinking...
you come back with a big surprise to everyone, haha!! yeah, if got time to kill, this shop is actually having lots of things to see and they surely give you some good idea for gifts.. oooh, giveaway contest!! looking forward to it.. but only one to be won?? aiyah, then the chance is so slim for me leh.. anyway, i will sure participate.. i still remember i got the very nice New York fridge magnet from you leh :D
DeleteHello Sk,
ReplyDeleteVery true lah. Nowadays no need to travel, can buy anything online from other countries also. But these magnets do look nice. They are in the forms of postage stamps too. Very nice! Have a great weekend!
very true, haha.. don't even need to leave your house and you can have many things delivered to your doorsteps.. you have a great weekend too :)
Delete三大最嬲收到嘅手信之一!
ReplyDeletefridge magnet 我其實OK喎, 鎖匙扣就唔好喇, 哈哈!! :D
DeleteGood morning sk
ReplyDeleteEee cute cat. How to hate it. Lol
Lovely "bookish" template.
oooh, Small Kucing dropping by on a saturday morning!! so rare lah.. must be having some activities out there and made Mamarazzi lepak inside KFC :D
DeleteTrue what you said. Now no need go overseas also can find souvenirs from overseas in Malaysia.
ReplyDeleteBut if see at d back...can see "made in Cxxxx" ...lol.
haha, can buy but the meaning is different already lah.. and i think rarely see the word "made in xxx" on fridge magnets or keychains nowadays.. probably all come from the same source and distributed worldwide, so kind of "understood" lah~~ :D
DeleteIndeed. Just the other day, I saw a shop selling a stack of postcards from Korea and somewhere else but none on Malaysia. Bummer!
ReplyDeleteYeah, fridge magnets are popular giveaways. My only concern is that when you have too many together they may zap away your electronic data nearby like in your luggage? Your wisdom?
Nice Nov template - in a soothing shade. Makes you think better. haha.. Happy Nov!
hmmm, guess those shops target those local hardcore Korean fans, haha.. err, no problem for me, because I won't be putting my magnet sbd electronic gadgets together!! the magnets will surely go into check-in luggage, and my gadgets always with me hand carried.. :)
Deletewah, if like that no need go foreigner country to buy liao~ =.=
ReplyDeleteyeah, if you missed out some souvenirs from UK, please go there and buy some~~ :D
DeleteKnock knock. November liao :D
ReplyDelete..and everyone's one month older!! :D

I guess I have to scroll back from time to time to catch up with you guys! Sorry SK for using this post to convey out-of-topic comment...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, coming back to your post, I didn't know that they sell these "foreign" magnets locally here... but now that you showed them here, I think those of us reading this will not buy them.... hahahaa.. sudah bocor rahsia here..
welcome back Claire and great to see you back in full force action!! haha, so it's my bad to bocor rahsia here, now nobody can buy to tipu now~~ :p
