Wah! You sure don't throw things away one. ^^
ReplyDeleteWonder any buyers/takers if you put them up at ebay? XD
ReplyDeleteHey, we had the same SE phone!!! Wah, your camera certainly good for ladies to defense themselves, lol!
Whoa, what a collection, wor! Am having the same thought as Lina. I wonder also if Kheng Siong has started selling anything on ebay or perhaps now an expert for us to learn a thing or two from? You didn't own one of those very first phones they call the tai-kor-tai? That one could also do as a great defence weapon it being so huge? LOL!
ReplyDeleteKeeping them, who's know, they will become valueble antique in next 20 to 30 years.
ReplyDeletethose were really awesome gadgets back then :)
ReplyDeleteKeep them! Who knows they may be priceless in the coming years! =)
ReplyDeleteWow, man, you are good at keeping [and finding them out]. I wanted to remember where is my very first phone, but my brain is empty - bad sector. Hahaha! Don't know what happened to it.... but one thing I remember vividly, it was so cool to own a handphone regardless its size back then :p
ReplyDeleteAnd my first camera, which requires xx bateries and rolls of film and $$$$$ to develop the pictures, I think I donated it away. It's such a waste of money to develop the blurred, unfocused pictures. Unlike the technology nowadays, if unsatisfied with the picture, just press .
An iPhone 4 can replace all of those :p
ReplyDeleteI still have that kind of camera too..
ReplyDeleteIn just a matter of years only, hor.. one gadget represents all those.. wonder what else they invent in another few years time..
ReplyDeleteIf wanna pindah rumah sure going to have a big headache. Sayang to throw but.....
ReplyDeleteKnow its quite hard to throw again old stuffs even though we have not used them for donkey years. We need to attend a degree course 'How To Get Rid of Old Things' haha.
ReplyDelete15 years is not that very long wait till you see my Grand Finale of my 7 Random Facts of Bananaz of things that I have been using for more than 30 years..stay tuned hehe
ReplyDeletecool stuff haha! i have a discman too! hehe.
ReplyDeletehaiz I miss my iPod Shuffle because I buy that time dam costy . . .
ReplyDeletemy discman not working anymore sad :)
ReplyDeleteCan donate to Museum liao...ha ha ha
ReplyDeleteOMyGawd Thambee dei, you keep so much rubbish!! No wonder I heard Kamala scream la.
ReplyDeleteI am sure you have more than that! Go dig further and you might see spiders and snakes sleeping inside your trunks! You might find some valuable and priceless milk brass pots too! LOL
ReplyDeleteSo you upgraded so many items today after becoming Slumdog Millionaire! Hey, you forgot to feed your hungry brothers in the village!
ReplyDeleteYou damn rich like a Chettiar dei. You traveled to middle East and Europe plus bought an iPhone! Dei, my smartphone had to be given free by a friend who pitied Arumugam! HuHu!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can slowly dig out your trash and send them to me! I will sell them by roadsides near Chow Kit's thieves market..! Donate all money to the poor in Thambee's name. Big merits you know...
ReplyDeleteWah! Cannot wait for Bananaz 7 random facts! When is it up? :)
ReplyDeletewah! antique DSLR? cannot see clearly leh. :P
ReplyDeleteNot sure where is my film camera and discman... but anyway, it should be in the box back in my parent place :p
ReplyDeleteold gadgets do bring back that nostalgic feeling eh :)
ReplyDeletethat's very intresting SK... haha i thin i still have my walkman somewhere...
ReplyDeletewow imagine how modern technology changed drastically...
ReplyDeleteas in today they will release a new model and tomorrow a latest one...
this is a good remembrance... better keep it dude...who knows, their values will get higher and higher as time passed by
ReplyDeletei so agree... i can't imagine bringing an old version of laptop that is as big as an attache case hahaha
ReplyDeleteor even that bulky tape cassette or that big flashy film camera haha...
ReplyDeletebut of course during those times, having such gadgets is not a laughing matter...
happy thursday SK
ReplyDeleteBro,do keep those old stuffs save and good, who knows one day, they will bring you a lot of good memories... sometimes i reckon those so called antiques do have certain kind of values to the collector not in term of money and cents but more as an enjoyment, something to savor out of life..........
ReplyDeleteI like old stuff, i even make a few pants resonating the old school charms and i love the 80s music, my running companion MP3 consists of those 80s such like Rick Astley, Alison Moyet, Duran Duran and etc.
thanks for sharing bro
Is it guys like to keep/hoard things one ah? My hubby oso the same. I wish I can throw away half the junk we have at home. It's just gathering dust! And whose suppose to clean them? I jugak! @.@
ReplyDeletePut them all in a glass case lah for display. LOL
ReplyDeleteI still have an old camera...the one using films...and I have some old watches too...and old hand phone - I'm still using it! Can't afford to get a nice new one. Sobssss!!!!
ReplyDeleteNeverhad a discman...and my walkman....dunno where it is now. I had an Aiwa, I think...cheap one.
ReplyDeletehere again..
ReplyDeletesometimes i wish I could find back all my old stuffs. Problem is, i think all got thrown away in the past :(
@ lina:
ReplyDeletethose are really all my first leh, except for the handphone because i think i've thrown my first handphone - that one is with antenna somemore, classic!! haha.. hmmm, maybe another 20 years later, they should be more valuable??
@ Alice Law:
yeah, i think this was quite a popular model that time right?? haha, yes lor, that camera really bulky and i can't imagine taking it to snap photos back then, haha!!
@ HappySurfer:
hahahaha, indeed a very impressive collection of those white elephants huh?? errr, that was my second handphone in the photo, my first one was the very classic Panasonic G90 that comes with antenna!! haha, but i think i've thrown that away.. no lah, can't afford those "water bottle" phone during that time, i remember it was like a brief case and somebody brought it to school before!! what a joke~~
@ Sheoh Yan:
ReplyDeleteyeah, and i have no intention to sell them or throw them away.. will keep for maybe another 20 years and who knows they become valuable again?? :D
@ HenRy LeE ®:
hahaha, definitely cool and latest gadgets!! i remember not many people can afford using Palm back then but i just did, haha!!
@ Hayley:
ReplyDeleteoh, i definitely will be keeping them, maybe 20 years down the road they become more valuable again and i can get good money, haha..
@ yvonne:
haha, that one in the photo was my second handphone, my first one is Panasonic GD90 which comes with antenna, so classic!! but have thrown it away already lah, should have keep it hor?? yeah, having a phone is a pride last time, but now everyone only look at iPhone as the standard, haha!! oh, i think same camera lah, you need 4 AA size batteries to operate, and then 36-film 400 (forgotten what is that already) negative roll.. and yeah, developing the photos and actually some can come out to be very disappointing.. now with digital camera, just press and press until you satisfy.. so convenient..
@ Thristhan:
ReplyDeleteyou are right, not only iPhone 4, but i think most smartphones now have all the functions and we only need one phone for all.. :)
@ wenn:
hehehe, you still keep that camera but i don't think you are still using them right??
@ reanaclaire:
ReplyDeleteoh yeah, i am also curious on what will be the next technology advancement!! hmmm, maybe something like mission impossible, you can drag your screen in the air!! wow~~
@ Small Kucing:
yalah, actually wanted to throw but then feel very sayang and in the end just keep them.. they do bring back lots of memories actually..
@ Bananazஇ:
ReplyDeleteerrr, yeah, they actually are in good condition and also functioning, will just be too tough to throw away just like that, somemore they really mean something to me.. haha, looking forward to all your collection of antiques.. am sure yours is more interesting for staying with you more than 30 years huh.. hmmm, your pair of super duper huge bell bottom pants?? hahahaha~~ :D
@ kyh:
hehehehe, and i also think being able to own a discman during that time is a pride~~ :p
@ Kian Fai:
ReplyDeletemy discman also not working but still looks very handsome.. haha, i also got my mp3 player at around RM500 that time for just 512MB, but now you can easily get one with less than RM100!!
@ Pete:
oh, i donate to my very own SK museum lah.. keep them for another 20 years and they will become more valuable..
@ Twilight Man:
ReplyDeleteArumugam, those are not rubbish leh, those were once Thambee's favourite gadgets that Thambee felt so pride with them.. Arumugam you know what, without those Thambee thinks Thambee won't be able to attract Kamala also, hahahaha!! Thambee and Kamala got one consensus already, Thambee will keep all those technology gadgets, while Kamala will keep all those curry pots and milk pots.. we will keep them for another 20 years and then sell them at a good price, so that we can buy more cows and goats to milk!! maybe will give a few cows and goats to my Arumugam and Letchumi lah.. hehehehe, Thambee followed Arumugam to get all those new gadgets, because Arumugam keep recommending and persuading Thambee, so what to do?? Thambee afraid that Arumugam will get unhappy, that's why Thambee forced to get all the latest gadgets and travel to many places so that Thambee will be at the same level to talk to Arumugam, if not sure Arumugam will look down at Thambee as a slumdog only~~ oh, cannot sell them now at Chow Kit lah, Thambee rather keep them for another 20 years and sell them as antique at zBay (the latest generation of eBay by then)..
@ lina:
oh yeah, i am really curious what are his collections.. maybe that set of clothing he wore while first dating Mango~~ :D
@ Medie007:
ReplyDeletehaha, no lah, that is not any DSLR lah.. just those antique film camera operating on 4 pieces of AA size batteries, hahaha~~
@ TZ:
hehehe, you better keep them in good condition and know where they are.. 20 years down the road they could be very very valuable and can earn you good money~~ :D
@ Isaac Tan:
ReplyDeleteoh yeah, definitely all those memories, but before that they really give me a good laugh at their bulky and inconvenient size, hahaha..
@ bluedreamer27:
hahaha, it certainly was a great laugh when i saw all those bulky gadgets back then, they are really huge and so inconvenient if seen under our perspective nowadays right?? anyway, they do mean a lot and really bring back some good memories.. hahaha, so will never intend to thrown them away, who knows in 20 years time they become valuable antiques everyone wants to have?? hahaha.. oh, you also have those camera and walkman huh, interesting!! and i still remember my laptop back then given by the company, it was really a rock!! oh my.. :D
@ eugene:
ReplyDeleteoh yes i will definitely not thrown them away but to keep them in good condition.. they mean a lot to me, all are my very first gadgets except the handphone.. my very first handphone was the Panasonic GD90 that comes with antenna, haha, classic isn't it?? haha, let's see 20 years down the road if they could bring me a fortune, or else it's always good to keep them for myself to remind me of all those good memories.. oh, i think i don't have my old clothes left, wanted to find my school uniforms but i guess i've thrown them away when i moved..
@ lina:
hahaha, i have no idea but i think guys appreciate gadgets just like ladies appreciate their jewelry!! you agree with me?? haha.. oh, so you got it, i think your hubby will be very happy if you buy him a glass case for all his antiques!! :D
@ suituapui:
ReplyDeletehehehehe, great!!! i think many people own such a camera right?? using films and runs on 4 pieces of AA size batteries, hahaha!! hey, you should keep all those old watches, i think antique watches are very valuable, many people are collecting them.. haha, Aiwa was branded walkman during that time, i think i had one also but the one i'm keeping is a Sony and that was the first one i bought myself with my own money~~
@ Isaac Tan:
aiyoh, it's a waste to throw away all those gadgets huh?? who knows 20 years later they will really be priceless?? so start keeping your old stuffs now, hahahaha~~ :D
Wahh you still keep that sony ericsson phone! Screen cracked liao :P
ReplyDelete@SK,
ReplyDeleteSeeing Bananaz clothes when he was dating Mango sure fun one. Right?
Bananaz, show us!
Rather than put them in glass case, I just dump them in cardboard box. Out of sight, out of mind. XD
p.s. I don't have jewelry collection, owh. Sedih... :(
hehehe you keep a lot of antiques!
ReplyDeleteif back to past tense, you are very high tech guy with all high tech gadget!
ReplyDeleteSo compact and small, people steal also don't know! XD
ReplyDeleteNow one iPhone can use for all! Mp3 player, Camera, Phone! haha! Surf net also can o.O
ReplyDeletewow, surprise you really keep all these gadgets!! haha, i even have no idea where are mine now!! LOL
ReplyDeleteLOL at your description of that camera, though not clearly seen in the photo but i can imagine that because i had one too!! i remember it was huge too!! haha!!
ReplyDeleteyou are right though that now all those functions are found in just one mobile phone which comes in so handy in all situations, that's technology.. :)
ReplyDelete@ iamthewitch:
ReplyDeletehaha, no the phone is still in perfect order, just that the crack is the antique photo effect lah.. :)
@ lina:
haha, but too bad, Bananaz did not show any of his collection in his final post on the 7 facts!! hmmm, maybe we shall ask him for one dedicated post on this?? haha, good, keep everything in a box and then leave them aside in the store room, clear of sight!! oh, i thought you've been saving your money to get your RM73 million diamond ring?? hahahahaha~~ :D
@ CH Voon:
ReplyDeletehaha, yeah, i still keep them in good conditions.. you are right actually, back then i think i almost have all those latest gadgets with me, that's why i was proud of myself, haha..
@ ladyviral:
ReplyDeletehahaha, true also, i have lost my phone inside the train few years back, what a mayhem!! so i now must make sure my iPhone is always secured with me, because it means the camera, the music player, the organiser and everything to me, haha!!
@ victor:
yeah, i was surprise myself too to find out all them in good conditions.. haha, yeah, it was really true that that huge film roll camera can really be a good defensive weapon, hehe!! right, i guess now many people will just use their handphone to function as camera, music player, organiser and also to go online.. :)
ReplyDeleteThambee and Kamala should open a junkyard shop la! LOL
ReplyDeleteYou have so many useless old gadgets and Kamala has so many dented milk and curry pots. You 2 can become future slumdog millionaires! Just start putting on your thinking cap now and plan.
ReplyDeleteYou will be surprised there are funny collectors out there who would buy anything even for an antique sireh cutter!
ReplyDeleteI bought an old sireh cutter 6 years ago for RM30 and now people are offering RM250. Good money dei..
ReplyDeleteI bought an antique brass charcoal iron for RM25 like 20 years ago. Now shops selling at RM300 in Melaka's Jonker Street for this big sized one. The shopkeeper offered me RM250 but I declined to sell. I am waiting for it to hit RM1,000!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnything you see as white elephants could become alive elephants! I will open an antique shop someday! I will name it Arumugan, Thambee & Sons Pte Ltd. Nice name dei.
@ edward:
@ imyuyu:
@ Twilight Man:
ReplyDeletehahaha, of course Thambee and Kamala will keep all those antiques in good condition for Arumugam, Thambee & Sons Pte Ltd!! so when is Arumugam going to open that company?? Thambee and Kamala can't wait, and Letchumi already want to become the Personal Assistant to CEO already, she's so excited, she can now sit on Arumugam's lap in the CEO office already, haha!! wow, Arumugam you really have great view on antiques huh, no wonder earning so much money!! oh, Thambee's house has a charcoal iron last time, but Thambee guess was thrown away when Thambee moved house, haiz, that could even be sold at RM2000 dei~~ ok, from now on, Thambee and Kamala will keep all those curry pots and milk jugs, and 20 years later they will earn us millions of rupees~~ :D
@ Ashley:
huh??
。。 哇哈哈~ :P
yeah, you are very right!! now i guess many people will just need a good smartphone and that can function as all the above gadgets..
ReplyDelete@ Jeremy O.:
@ victor:
absolutely agree with you, nowadays a good smartphone really comes in very handy, you can just have all those functions at anytime anywhere inside just one little gadget, convenient!! :)
對啊,有了iPhone/iPod,都把歌曲灌進去了。。
