it's the seventh month in the lunar calendar, according to the chinese custom, it's the month of hungry ghost.. i think you've heard many spooky stories before, but have you really experience it before?? i really mean, on yourself.. something happened about 15 years ago, and it's still clearly kept in my mind, and i remember it was somewhere during this month also..

i normally did my last minute revision just the night before exam, because i'm a short-term memory kind of person.. there was a night when i was struggling for the history exam on the next day, while i was very much concentrating on my books, i suddenly heard a group of kids (around 5 or 6 i think) playing, shouting and yelling happily outside.. well, seems like nothing's wrong for kids to play around right?? but, it was strange because:
  • it was 3 plus in the morning, and it's so not making sense that a group of kids were playing out there in such wee hour right??
  • they were loud, but none of the neighbours have heard them and then yelled at them to stop making noise..
  • it lasted like 5 minutes, i heard a car passed by and soon after this everything went back to the normal silence a deep night should be..

well well well, and i supposed you think there must be something behind there right?? i was actually freaked out then, but i forced myself to only concentrate on the textbooks.. anyway, i was lucky, thank to god, it was just a freaking 5 minutes and nothing bad has happened on me~~

  8. Wow, you sure it isn't your neighbors' kids?

But glad you weren't harmed. They are probably really just having fun and didn't know someone could hear them.

  11. Scary but good thing you were at home, so it wasn't that scary, eh? Was it eerie to you at that time or you felt it much later?

People I know have encountered these happenings. Check out the Hungry Ghost Festival post if you haven't read it.

Best to be home early this month, and be mindful and extra careful of what we do, believe it or not..

  14. fufu, sorry to hear about that. This is the month of the hungry ghosts so accidents will be abundant. Take care!

  15. SK, maybe what you heard was nothing supernatural, and that there were really some kids playing outside at 3am in the morning. Strange things do happen and sometimes we freak out because we do not understand it. There may be a reason for the children to be out there.

Of course, it could also be that those children are "ghosts". We shall never know shall we? Unless you were brave enough to have checked it out : )

    Tekkaus:
hmmm i guess so, because i just heard it and from my own logical analysis i think it's something.. but that was long time ago, i've already moved to the current place now.. what i heard now sometimes are yelling from people being robbed!! this is as scary too..

    Chi Leong:

    fufu:
OMG i am so sad to hear about that news, and she's just a little kid.. wish she could rest in peace..

hmmmm, sometimes it's more scary if others didn't feel it but only you.. so what exactly happened in the kitchen woh.. waiting for you to blog about it.. :p

    Grass:
hahaha, maybe you are right, perhaps they were just playing the shouting, later realised i need to prepare for my exam in the morning, so they just gone off??

    ladyviral:
i'm pretty sure, neighbours don't have kids that time, and imagine it's 6 kids playing outside the house at 3am, that doesn't make any sense right.. anyway, glad i wasn't harmed, just hear but didn't see anything horrible~~

  23. manglish:
well actually come to think about it, since i only hear that and they didn't really appear in front of my eyes.. somemore it just lasted like 5 minutes, can i consider that i was being lucky actually??

    Chin Weng

    HappySurfer:
errr, it was eerie when i heard them and started to logically analysis the whole thing.. anyway, i think i really have to concentrate on studying for the exam, so i have no time for that, hahaha!! and lucky i only heard them, they didn't appear right in front of my eyes.. Amitabha~~

  25. foongpc:
hmmm, the problem is there is no kids in the neighbourhood, at least there isn't as much as 6 of them.. and it cannot be a sudden chaos they created so abruptly in the middle of the night right?? i think most probably those are something supernatural.. anyway, i wasn't harmed or seen anything horrible, that's good enough.. :)

    venus:

  28. Sometimes we can hear voices but when we look, we are not able to see them. Which is a blessing, of course. One's luck needs to be good to not be able to see them.

I was told that it is good to not allow hair to cover the forehead as exposing the forehead brings more luck.

However, some people can see these beings all the time. They are so used to it that they are no longer scared of them tho not all of them are pleasant-looking. I have a few scary incidents but better not scare your readers.

  29. Hungry Ghost Festival is for our deceased loved ones to "return" to visit us, and in certain ways, it should be more heartwarming than scary. I always wished my grandmother would find her way to me because I didn't have the chance to see her one last time before she left us. So every Hungry Ghost Festival, I will draw one of her favourite picture, paste it on my front door and hope that she will return, and let me tell her how much I miss her. This is Hungry Ghost Festival to me.

    HappySurfer:
yeah i really consider that a blessing as i only heard that but didn't see anything unpleasant, guess they saw me hardworkingly preparing for exam so they just got away :p hmmm, my forehead is always exposed, cos i have very short hair, haha.. wow, did you mean you have those kind of eyes and can see them around?? hmmm, i'm actually very interested to know.. why not you do a post on this in your blog?? :)

  34. Grayscale:
i actually agree with you, that the purpose of having this day is to remember our ancestors and to respect the deceased, but somehow it has since don't-know-when become a scary one.. those HK movies are actually the most horrible ones.. anyway, i hope your grandmother will find her way to you this time.. :)

    Jonzz:
hmmm i am very sure it's not a dream, because i was very conscious studying for the exam.. anyway consider that a bless, i only heard but didn't see anything.. so how's your experience then?? :)
