    1. And , you seems to be slimmer here but ok la , that was so long ago. Lol
I love the beer you are having , don't I think I can gulp such a big glass !!

    2. Haha, I bet almost everyone is slimmer when we are younger! Teenage life ma! Want to stay fit and look great. Now as we grow older, we seems to know the meaning of ENJOY, so we tend to eat whatever we want, cause life is too short! Of course still have to control and watch out on diet la, but at least not that 'strict' already~~

    3. True Hayley. As we grow older, we tends to grow fatter. Probably it's the metabolism slowing down as we aged. Need to exercise more. I was underweight when I was 26 then ...hahaha ...now almost overweight. :)

    3. OMG! You look so young and fair too. Another signature pose from you. Hmm, this one look more like John Travolta - Saturday Night Fever...

    4. Hmm, never been to LKF. If I have chance to go HK again, maybe can pay a visit to LKF.

    5. I've never been to that kind of carnival too. That pint of beer must have lots of memory to you. Hmm, how come you didn't bring it back. You must be "mabuk" and left somewhere...hehehe

    6. I agree, sometimes really no idea what to write. No interesting events to blog about. Like me la! I got topic also is all about Aden and Toby, then I was thinking, if I keep on writing about them, my readers might get bored, haha!

    7. Maybe SK is busy dowloading the customised CD songs to all the winners. Maybe that takes alot of time. So even he finished everything and posted out to all the winners. Guess it is a time to do something light and do not want to stress himself with new things yet. He is a programmer leh... he definitely can organize his things very well. So flash back to his 10years memories and blog about is also his fun activity to do.

      Delete
    8. yeah, I don't know how SK did the CD burning. Unless his company is involved in this business, then it's Kacang putih. if he does it manually and search around for the songs, then it can be massive efforts.

Maybe he can giveaway vouchers next time la... hahaha

    10. I have not been blogging for YEARS!! So dusty. Just no time... it's not easy even if my head know what to write. Have to select the right photo, do some photo editing, think of the content flow.... gosh! and SK can do it for so many years. Salute

    1. Yeah, just don't do anything and rest. I would suggest go for a run or workout. Though you feel tired, physically you are not really tired unless you are sick. Exercise will makes you feel better and energised for the next day!

  5. B Okay, this diffidently reminds of my Hong Kong 2013 and the recent one. This time I did went to Lantau, climb up high to see the Buddha is so tired...refuses to climb also cannot, because my friend all climb up very fast, I'm considered very slow already, so die die also force myself up to the stair and yea, that time you went there by hiking through the mountains or by bus? I took the cable car I saw people can reach by hiking and also bus.

IFC is the place I was kept on thinking to stay hours to spot any celebrities, because that is the shopping mall has the most celebrities went for shopping one. Apple reporter always get to spot somebody there. And also actually I quite like the building la, the clear glass apple store, super attractive.

Repulse Bay ya, this one I don't know, but know from wiki is 淺水灣...Oh this place what I learned from TVB drama is lots of rich people stay one, you there to check out houses to buy??? Hahaha.....but from wiki did say it's a place famous about swimming one and the seaside view la...

Stanley I quite like this place, not the seaside please, but no doubt it the seaside is very beautiful. Compare to the seaside, I like the Murray House more, but too bad they make the food there very expensive, I didn't get the chance to have any food inside (like those in the drama) only get to see from the outside. But hor last time I saw Stanley in mandarin is 赤柱 always from the HK drama or movie, this place is for jail, to lock up people one. At first I was like why people got bus to this kind of place one...but since this bus is right in front of my hostel, might just give a try, but end up I found up this place actually not bad though. And I forgot to mentioned that I get to found Catch Me Now the blue house inside the drama.

Tram is my favorite la, every time go must take it every time, I like the cultural that it drive slowly that you've more time to think and enjoy the city.

Victoria Harbor I didn't go this time anyway they're under construction right now, nothing much to see, they've already move the statues and the fingerprint thing inside to the Tsum Sha Tzui area, the view there is not so good, grass as the background, not like last time has the harbor as the background.

LKF is that Lan Kwai Fong, hehe! I like this place, 2012 I went with family, 2013 I went with hostel friend, 2015 I went alone....hehe!!

Peak I went on 2012 and I remember I've seen enough of it so didn't go on next two three years also la...but 2015 I did went until the half Peak, hahaha...

Macau I also went in 2012, this keep for future, I will be back for the heritage buildings in the future...

Disneyland not yet go, thinking go Disneyland alone is a bit awkward, hahaha.....

  7. Good Morning Bloggers! Yengga Poreng Ngeh Thambee! Lu pogi HongKong and didn't post so many photos yeah. I think that is common dei as I also have many albums of faded photos taken in Hong Kong when the old Kai Tak Airport was still in operations. Those days were actually more interesting as there was no Tsing Ma Bridge and I had to take boats daily on the choppy waves from Kowloon to my sister's house in Lantau Island. It was a memorable memory to ride boats twice a day for many weeks. When the sea was rough with strong waves, the boat services were halted and everyone had to sleep a night a Kowloon or wait for 3-4 hours for the waves to calm down. That's where I got my life's inspirations that nothing is permanent and forever just like the waves. It will go up and down daily in our lives, so we must be strong and patient.

    1. I like the old airport actually, because not many pilot can fly there, whoever fly there must be very expert one, and the best thing is get to see the Kowloon city so closely.

I like to ride boat in Hong Kong also but those are the boat or the ferry? Don't know which one is correct, but the one I like is the ferry that I always take from central to Tsim Sha Tsui then from Tsim Sha Tsui back to central.

      Delete
    2. I guess because the old airport is near to the sea, so more skills are required from the pilot...hahahha.. It's good to be safer la.

That's bit unheard of that you are unproductive in blogging. You are usually very 'ON' to keep your blog up to date as well introduce many creativw widgets and scripts to it. I believe you probably just started blogging then in 2006 and haven't found the oommph yet!!

I think for a beginner (then), three posts were considered good enough for a travelogue. And, I like the fact that you check your old posts for inspirations. Everybody suffered some mental blocks at times and maybe I should do so when I got one. hahaha

  9. Picture B

Yes, you should not 'waste' your pixs and use it in your posts Maybe can blogged it under 'flashback' or 'memories'. I also got some pixs before I started blogging and I can used that too whenever I run out of topics.

  15. C I know Victoria Park, on 2012 I went there for the food festival, actually is not what they call as food festival, they called it as 工展會, they selling instant noodles, bao yu tin and many many types of food. I did bao back some instant noodles last time duh.

Then in 2013 when I went there is during mid-autumn festival also, so they've very nice decoration like you the picture you post, but too back I don't have time to write that post... =[ actually I've spent hours there to take picture of all the decorations they made...it was tiring of course, but very fun and interesting.

  17. Photo # 1:
You went to so many places in one trip but there were repeats as well. How strange that Thambee never got sick of the same places.

    - IFC is such a huge and scary name in the swanky side of Central that Anay would not dare to step inside twice. Those celebrities and well heeled Tai-Tais who want to be seen would hang out there. I remember they have 2 buildings with Four Seasons Place connected to add more glam and blings to the shopping haven. You will see no benches and food courts there as they don't fit into the ambiance, moreover the filthy rich people don't laze on benches for people watching activities. They want to sashay and be seen!! So all the papparazzi, come one!!

    1. - Repulse Bay is one of the loveliest beach stretch I have ever seen in Asia. It looks very similar to one beach area in Thiland's Phuket Island where the Meridian Phuket Hotel is. They have the similar panoramic view from the road which runs high above from the sea level and dotted by hotels and high end poshiest condos! Only the super rich folks and expats could live in Repulse Bay which is located on the southern part of Hong Kong Island next to Deep Water Bay. I remember taking buses twice in different years from downtown Central, just to get the slow ride journey to view the whole stretch of Repulse Bay before going to Ocean Park.

I remember seeing some familiar homes of the TVB movie stars along the way. It was by chance that there were other bus passengers who were tourists and armed with travel guide books to help them identify the fabulous homes of the stars. I just sat there in amusement to get free information.

    2. - Stanley Market is still very popular with tourists and locals alike for their abundance of food delicacies and kick knack souvenirs! I have only visited this place once during the 80s when Hong Kong was still without places like Disneyland or Big Buddha. Everyone was jamming the quaint narrow roads that led to Stanley area. I never went back as I was terrified of the crowd and heat in Fall Season! The humans were like mammoth there. So when my wife visited Hong Kong with me, I merely told the whole gang of friends that there is nothing at Stanley by using the “Sibu Excuse” that when one has seen Kek Lok Si Temples and the souvenir shops that line on the steps– YOU HAVE SEEN STANLEY ALREADY! Wakakaka

    3. - TRAM!! VOILA!! I asssume you meant the one at Victoria Peak. Tram rides in Hong Kong's Peak is more interesting than Penang Hill's trams due to its ascending degree of steepness and different view. We can see the breathtaking view of the city's skyscrapers and magnificent buildings all over Hong Kong island from the tram rides coming down from the Peak. I love that and have only taken 3 rides so far. Enough lah.

If you are talking about the TRAM rides that run on the historical rails across the streets, then this way is the best transport to enjoy the colourful sights of Hong Kong Island that runs to all the places from West End's Kennedy Town until the Eastern End's Shau Kei Wan. In between you get to see the modern and historical buildings the line the popular and busy streets in Central, Causeway Bay and North Point. No new visitors should ever miss this 100 years old tram rides where you can easily snap photos too!

    4. - Victoria Harbour is so huge that you could almost see it anywhere in between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. They are rated the largest harbour in China and the 3rd largest port in the world after San Francisco and Rio De Janerio! When you look at all the busy ships sailing in and out of the harbour, you could feel the sense of abundance wealth that has always blessed Hong Kong. Good income from the water source hence the excellent Feng Shui that would prosper for many centuries to come. Queen Victoria whom they named after would be pleased to see how prosperous her harbour is today.

During the night they often have these laser light shows that beams up beautifully. Thousands of tourists would always wait for nightfall with their cameras to capture the spectacular light shows. Don't miss it!

    5. - Lan Kwai Fong is such a vibrant and happening place in Central Hong Kong which is pretty close to all the thousands of business offices. It is very popular with tourists and locals who love to gather at this trendy place for alcoholic drinks and exotic dining every night. I found that it was more crowded on weekdays and Fridays instead of weekends, minus the office crowd. My wife love this place so much and we sat there all night watching crazy drunkards who danced along the streets and got into fights! No worries, the whole area is always heavily guarded by the police in uniforms! You will be safe and happy there.

I must share with you guys that the success of Lan Kwai Fong prompted many other developers in KL, Singapore and even China to create the trendy spots to resemble Hong Kong styled LKF!! So we saw places sprouting up at KL's Changkat and Singapore's Holland Village areas. The hub at Bangsar has become history now after shifting to Changkat Raja Chulan. The most surprising eye opener for me was in Chengdu!!! They actually built a whole hub by the river and named it Lan Kwai Fong!!! It is very huge, trendy and nice with restaurants and pubs. The saddest part was there is NO CROWD at all like the LKF in Hong Kong. I know this because I stayed at the 5 star hotel which was just a short walking distance to LKF in Chengdu.

      Delete
    6. - Lantau Island was where I stayed during my first Hong Kong trip. Repulse Bay was initially the choice my sister and ex hubby wanted to live but they found the whole area a bit dated with heavy traffic at certain hours of the day. During the 80s, the Lantau Island had just built the new Discovery Bay where it attracted all the foreign expats to migrate and started a community there like a haven for ang mohs. So my sister and hubby bought a Mediterranean styled terrace house there that overlooked the ocean. It was so beautiful that the whole area looked like Monte Carlo to me with so many ang mohs walking around the beach and decks with their yachts berthed there. Seeing is believing.

    4. E : What is LKF? I can see that it is very, very crowded. I'm afraid I don't like crowds like that. It won't be fun for me jostling with the crowd and I would feel miserable. I would rather stay in the hotel room. So you can tell that I am not a fun person.

  26. E That's so crowded but honestly I haven't been to LFK during the day, I always went on night only. So since so many people, did police there to jaga? Because during new eve that time, the police has block the road around this, they make it one way, so people are just going in a same direction, so won't have any conflict, and they won't allow you stop in the middle of road, they will kept on ask to move to the side or keep walking.

    6. My HK trip with hubby was in 2009. This trip is the one I treasured the most. Why? I considered it was our real honeymoon after married for 3 yrs. Just the 2 of us. Although the trip was later then. That was the best time for us. Hubby likes cooling weather so we were there in the mid of Nov. We do not need tour guide. Everything we plan ourself. Just grab the HK MTR station route leaflet and we decide where to go. Friends and relatives asked why didn't bring your son go? Erm.. should go Disneyland and should go Ocean park.. bla bla bla. In my mind next time la when they grow up first. I'm sure we will bring them go next time.

We stayed at Eaton Hotel. No breakfast but somewhere around the area we enjoyed warm and soft Polo Bun with Iced Tea. Further down the street has beef noodle soup. Yummy. So can I understand us now SK, we rather enjoy food than going to LKF.. if got chance to LKF then must go "kin sek kin sek har" (cantonese). Dim Sum places was so crowded. Char siu pao, siu mai, porridge are good. Except their Chee Cheong Fun was slightly thicker the skin. Come to HK must try their Stinky Toufu. I bought a piece to try. Hubby walked far far away. Lol. I put alot of sauce just to cover the unpleasant smell. Hmm.. it was like normal toufu and doesn't really has the awkward smell while I'm eating. Hubby said HK stinky toufu can actually smells from 3 blocks away. Where got... 2 blocks only.

Visited Lantau Island too. Took the bottom glass cable car to the top of the Buddha statue. Since we go there definitely must climb up the stairs lor... quite tired. That time, they have this prayers ceremony to remember the late Anita Mui. HK fans spreading flower bouquets surrounding inside the temple. HK people will choose for vegetarian food. But we just had light snacks further walk towards the cable car. Curry fishballs anyone?

HK Octopus round trip card was very convenient. But to The Peak. We took bus up to The Peak. We passed by old streets in HK. Observing HK people, places and stalls from the bus window. We passed by "Pao Ma Dei" stadium while on the way to the top. Good experience. We didnt'take the tram while coming down. We escape the long queue by taking the cab straight to the hotel. How much I can't remember. Worth it still. As the rest of our journey, we used the Octopus card.

    7. So far no plan to go HK yet. This post also reminds me to view back my HK photos at FB. I used to keep all my travelogue albums in FB. Convenient for me to view. Luckily I still have it at FB or not I have nothing left after my hubby laptop got stolen. Now I'm smarter. When free download and burnt into a disc.

  29. PHOTO #3 - What a shame that I often hung out at Causeway Bay but I never knew this Victoria Park existed. Got lantern gala some more!! It looks nice in your photo and I must note down this place on my next coming visit.

I just googled image for Victoria Park and the website popped up the Victoria Park in London. No wonder, HKG must have everything that UK has. So well, I saw that images of Victoria Park which is located at the North of Hong Kong. I saw so much nice green landscapes with lovely trees around the big statue of Queen Victoria!
There is one park where there is an open space of green field and sandwiched in between the green trees and tall building of Hong Kong. It looked exactly like Central Park in New York's Manhattan island. Oh God, so identical and I had to double check.

    1. PHOTO #4 - Hey Thambee, you looked so skinny and dark like gorilla just landed from the Chennai ferry. What did you do at Lantau Island?? You just simply guessed and posted this photo to brag at your slimmer waist lines!

Why do people always looked younger and thinner in their old photos? Why don't they look fatter and older in their old photos like the Case Of Benjamin Button's story line. Wakakaka

    2. PHOTO #5 - This LKF Carnival has become the most talked about event in Hong Kong where thousands of tourists and locals would jammed up the whole area until they had to set up some 100 booths so that it could stretch out further to cater to the mammoth crowd of merry makers and drinkers.

I had never been there when they had this carnival but google photos showed so many street dancing and parades!!! So interesting and it looked like the Mardi Gras Carnival in Rio De Janerio. I wonder how Thambee enjoyed himself running all over the place to cuci mata and play with the water melons?? Wakakakaka

    3. PHOTO #6 - Thambee you looked so gaya when you were younger. Where got kampung ah pek? You looked like the Chennai's Chettiar with your bag over shoulders! It must millions of ruppees inside to loan to anyone at LKF after getting broke from impulsive drinking and shopping.

I couldn;t believe my eyes that Thambee drank the Western beers!!! Dei you should be drinking the toddy to support the economy of Chennai. I like that tall beer mug which looked like those yards that drinkers use for beer competitions. Anay took part before in this beer yard contest and won but puke out so much beer through my nose, ears and eyes! Never never never again!

  30. F Hahaha, buy that one just because of the cup? But serious why don't you keep it back to Malaysia. Let me guess maybe most of your colleagues are getting it so with the majority so you plan to get it also. But by the time you pack your luggage you felt it's so not useable so you leave it back in Hong Kong?

Last time I do the same thing also, but for me, I die die also want to take back the thing...(very kiashu attitude) especially if travel with my family I can sneak that in my mom or my brother luggage, hahaha...

  31. Ah, down memory lane. Interesting shots some of them. Thanks for sharing.

In 'F', I once had this jug too but it's rounded at the base so it comes with a stand to prop it up. I gave it away to someone who was opening a pub.
