Simple Fried Rice
Yesterday I've prepared a simple lunch for Fing-Fing. Yeah, it is the thing I rarely do - sweating in the kitchen! It was not in purpose, but Fing-Fing said he wanted to eat fried rice. So I just cooked for him since it is not something tough.
Fried Rice
First, I prepared the ingredients needed for the fried rice. Don't worry too much about the ingredients, you can always use others according to your preference. The afternoon, I just cut luncheon meat, red onions, Chinese sausage.

Other ingredients: Green peas, sweet corn, cooked rice and eggs. To taste: Salt, pepper, and a little bit of soy sauce for colour (can add more for better taste and colour).
Fried Rice
I do not know how to fried the rice together with eggs, so I beaten up the egg and fried them omelete style first. Cut them into smaller pieces for the fried rice and then take out them out of the wok for later use.
Fried Rice
Next, I stir fried the luncheon meat and Chinese sausage. I suggest not to put oil because after you stir fried the meat, there will be oil coming out. We do not want too oily, right? I also put in the red onions to give more aroma to the fried rice.
Fried Rice
When the meats are done, add in the rice and all other ingredients.
Fried Rice
Stir everything well and then add in salt, pepper and a little bit of soy sauce to taste. As you can see from the photo, there were lumps in my rice because I just cooked the rice and it was still moisture.
Fried Rice
When done, I served my fried rice on plate and garnished with broccoli, browned shallots and some dry sambal belacan powder. Lets we have a closer look over my fried rice below. Itadakimasu! Fing-Fing enjoyed it very much. Hehehe.....
Fried Rice
P/S: My verdict, the fried rice tasted good but the rice grains were not all separated. It would give better result if you use overnight rice, or at least set to "cool down" before frying.
this post is a tribute dedicated to Angeline BK @ Angeline's Side の Story (the post title 安琪故事 is Angie's Story translated into Chinese).. so this Taiping Baking Queen needs no more introduction right?? she often never fail to show us awesomely delicious cakes she baked and food she cooked, and she can also do very nice artwork.. have not met her in person, but from her posts we all know she is one kind and friendly person.. dear Anzerin, thank you for your long-term support and comments, hope you like this (not so successful) mimic of your style though it's actually a challenge for me since you blog mostly about baking and cooking (which are my weakest points), hehehe.. :p

    2. ...but I sure love your presentation, SK. That last pic...looks so professional. Better than what we may get at many cafes and restauarants.

    3. Yep, agree.. His presentation so canggih.. Like 5-star presentation, macam in high class restaurants.. Haha..

    4. Yeah, I like his plating. Got talent!

    5. Yup, the presentation looks good! Looks professional !

    6. Good Morning Bloggers! I could not guess it was Angeline's post right away. At least I am honest cos few bloggers are kitchen's chefs too. I saw one Japanese word and that's her! Angeline always like to speak Japanese to Malaysian bloggers like me. I am jakun la. Muahahaha

    7. Actually after looking at SK's post, I'm very hungry even though I've eaten breakfast.. I immediately think of fried rice too.. My colleague "kam ngam" say wana go eat fried rice for lunch today.. I am supposed to be very happy, yes? Boss not around and colleagues going for fried rice too.. BUT dunno why I'm not happy wor.. Don't feel like going out too.. Is it becoz of the haze?

    8. Good day SK and bloggers!!
Wow, today is for Angeline! She seems busy lately, din't see her comments lately! Anyway she'll be proud and happy if she sees this ;)

I sorta agree with what STP asked, this is a simple fried rice?? Not simple already leh!! So many 'liu'!! Now I see also feel hungry already la! :p

      Delete
    9. Should pm or what's app Angeline to check this out, she'll be very happy to see this, hehe!!!

I guess for STP is pretty easy, remember he's a very expert chef, right??

  2. Morning morning.. Monday blue.. I'm supposed to feel moody & depressed today.. But becoz my boss just whatsapp-ed me this morning and told me she's on leave, wah, I chi-kak (immediately) tukar mode jadi heppi liao!

    1. Ooohh, so today's it's Angeline's mimic post.. She's a sweetie pie.. Looks pretty and very "seong geng" (photogenic).. I started reading her blog when I discovered her blog from SK's blog rolls too.. Just that I didn't leave any comments initially..

But once each other started to leave comments in each other's blogs, then the crazy commenting begins, haha.. Until now lor..

    2. Eh, I remembered this fried rice picture.. It's in your FB wor.. Many many yonks ago.. You were cooking for a few uni mates kan? I remembered each one cooked something, and you cooked fried rice kan?

Wah, the presentation not bad wor.. Macam high class restaurant punyer style.. Ada gaya, fuiyoh...

      Delete
    3. I also like luncheon meat fried rice.. But your one got so much "liew" leh.. Mine, just garlic (or shallots), luncheon meat and egg, that's all..

First, fry the shallots, then fry luncheon meat, throw in the rice, gaul gaul gaul, then crack an egg (or two) inside, terus gaul, and serve.. Kautim..

Not so canggih like you wor.. No peas, no lap-cheong, no brocolli, no dried shallots for garnishing leh...

      Delete
    4. SK, lei hai tim geh! (you are good!)..
      You what also "tim" wor..
Only one thing I never see before - baking..
If you post something on baking, I think you are No. 1 liao!

      Delete
    5. But the rice looks a bit white though.. Actually I like it white.. I don't like those with a lot of soy sauce or "hak yau" (black kicap).. I think your rice is already very flavorful especially with the luncheon meat and lap cheong.. Nothing can go wrong with lap cheong in fried rice.. Sure very "heong" (wangi)...

      Delete
    6. Yalor...and he said simple, so much ingredient, where got simple? Ya...his steps also different hor? Mine is also like yours. I guess it's all the same - everything goes in in the end...and ends up in the same place. Hehehehehe!!!!

    7. He should change his title la, shouldn't be simple fried rice.. It's not simple at all.. If he calls this simple, then I don't know our ikan-ikan bilis-fried-with-egg-only rice is called what.. Hahaha..

      Delete
    8. Should be fing fing fried rice !

      Delete
    9. Or fried rice Fing Fing style..

    10. Yeah this Sk's fried rice is not so simple but nicely done. I don't believe he fried them so nice. Maybe he snapped these photos in his girlfriend's house. She fried for him while he stood waiting on kitchen's high chair with Fing Fing on his lap drooling away. Wakakakaka

      Delete
    11. I saw the first picture in his FB before.. Taken many years ago.. But those subsequent pictures, dunno he re-fried them or where he go dig the photos.. Maybe he re-fried the rice last weekend, step by step like in the picture.. But the first picture, he took back his FB picture, coz canggih ma.. SK, yes or no?

      Delete
    12. Princess Ribbon, so how are you feeling now? Hope you are better, left 1-2 hours can fong gong already! Hang in there!
Wah your boss whatsapp you one ar? Cool! Last time my ex boss won't really tell us on purpose if he's on leave, unless those long leaves la, that one need to inform earlier cause need to do some arrangements, but ad hoc one, he won't tell us, cause he know we'll 'jeng gu zou guai' if we know ealier, hahaha! xD

    13. Hmm til now still no signs of Angeline, guess she must be too busy and occupied. Ok let me whatsapp her and tell her about this special post ;)

For those who haven't meet Angeline, yep she is sure a kind and friendly person, she is very 'cincai' and easy going one.

When she got any good 'kang tao' (deals) she will sure share with us, needless to mention she always share her amazing cooking with us in the office (when we were still working together last time), arghh how I miss those time!
Even though now we no longer work together, she still buys Aden toys, and drop by my mum's place when on the way home, on and off, makes me so paiseh cause she is so generous and thoughtful!

And she doesn't looks like she's a mother of 2 right? Hehe, still so young looking! And I love her fair skin! ;)
She's a real talented mummy, she is good in art too!

  21. Wah wah wah, first of all, I must say this Fing Fing is super fortunate and got ! So this so called simple lunch is specially made for Fing Fing la? Fuiyor! I tell you its not simple at all wokay? Honestly, if I fry rice, I won't be adding so much ingredients lo.. Seriously.... May be just sausages and eggs only, and rice la of course, haha xD Unless if I can find some vegetables in the fridge then I'll add along...

Hmm so because this is to mimic Angeline, so you purposely stepped into the kitchen and do the thing! Again, must salute your effort and thoughts! *hats off*

Eh, this lunch is for you and Fing Fing, but why got 3 plates of the rice in the first picture? Another plate is for who ar? :p

But I know la, if you write 安琪琳故事 then won't match with your 4-lettered Chinese title already, saja tease you only :p

  22. Back to the mimic style, apart from the fonts and background color, you did a good job in mimicking the tone too! Angeline always blog in details and in step by step whenever it comes to baking/cooking, even the photos snapped by her also very large and very focus one. The sentence 'Don't worry too much about the ingredients......', yea, makes me feels like I am actually reading Angeline's post! Her style is always very free and relax one. And sometimes gives verdict on certain thing ;)
And most important point is, she always prepare the ingredients nicely and separate by bowls/plates, very 细心 indeed. For me, I don't care one, haha! Pre preparation is something I don't really pay attention to, of course I care about the presentation but I am more concern about the end products, the taste to be exact.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Eh, the egg part, that's what I do as well, fry the eggs, take them out set aside then only fry the rice, towards the end only add the eggs back in, hehe!

Yes yes, we no need too much oil, actually if you fried the eggs first, there'll be leftover oil in the wok, just continue frying the rest, along the process more oil will be produced, especially from the luncheon meat and sausages.

Sweet corn and green peas are something I don't usually add/eat, but I do agree that they add so much color to the food and makes it look more appetizing. And fried rice taste better when we use overnight rice.

You some more put garnishing on your homecooked fried rice? Wah, really a perfectionist lo! ;) If for me, since this is eat at home only, I won't care to put garnishing, hahah (Yea I am that lazy, so bad horr?)
Oh got sambal belacan, I think this adds so much taste and appetite to the fried rice! I always think sambal and fried rice are a great combo! Last time I used to eat fried rice with chili sauce, but later I realize sambal works better~~

Hmm, I guess not only Fing Fing enjoyed it but you yourself too, right? ;) Now who say SK cannot cook?? Don't play play ar, SK can cook one wokay! ^_*
