Chilling Out at Sungai Chiling
Was what I did the past weekend. Rarely do I go for outdoor activities. So must write about this hiking trip at Kuala Kubu Bharu. It's a big thing, you know. HAHAHA

We bunked in at a skimpy rumah tumpangan in KKB town the night before and after breakfast at one of the mamak restaurant, we drove over to Sungai Chiling Fish Sanctuary. Arrived there rather late, at 9:30am. Groups of hikers came in cars, and their cars seen parked on both sides of the main road.

Some were even preparing to depart. But we were, of course, not considered the late ones. They were early. ^^
Kuala Kubu Bharu
My first time there. And just gotta follow another friend who has been there. We were to get to the waterfall at the other end, through a forest reserve. And more kindling, crossing a river along the hike. 6 times to be precise.

I was all equipped with my brand new hiking sandals (bought for this event) and a handful of salt. Leeches that I am bothered with. Call me newbie. Overly zealous newbie who thought these are the gist of hiking. ^^
Kuala Kubu Bharu
It commenced with a little walk cutting through trees and bushes. Supposed to be a forest reserve, so shall we call it. Not until later when the walking trail turned a real hiking trail, or almost not a trail at all, that was where the real fun began.
Kuala Kubu Bharu
Saw some interesting plants I have seen only on pictures. None could I even tell the name. I know they are definitely not condoms, grapes, monkey tail and rambutans as their shapes suggested nevertheless. Touche.
Kuala Kubu Bharu
Venturous more felt when we began to cross the river. First. Second. Calf-height. Third. Fourth. Above my knees. Fifth and just below my butt. That was when we decided to strip down to our swimming trunks and dip into the water. Awesome. Cold water running over our bodies and splashed onto us as we laid on small rapids. So close to the nature I felt. Sixth and repeat.
Kuala Kubu Bharu
Six river crossings and two dips, we finally reached the waterfall. Scent of fresh water, laughter of kids playing and sounds of falling water hitting rocks. How often do you see no building and car, but just trees and water around you? When was the last time?
Kuala Kubu Bharu
It was fairly crowded at the waterfall that we spent just 20 minutes. No nasi lemak for us. And screams from kids can be quite exasperating. Heading back to the entrance down the same trail, repeating the crossings six, five, four, three, two, one. And a small hike through the forest. Two hours. Or probably a tad little more. It was sheer fun. :P

And do uols find this familiar? Gotcha. Back in KL and Plan B's big breakfast as a reward to the newbie for making it through. Hihihi!
Plan B
Gratified. Burp.

And zilch is when you burnt some calories earlier but fed in more afterwards. Hukhukhuk! ^^

    Replies
    1. So SK, you purposely go hiking then go eat back the same food to produce to mimic the post izzit?

      Delete
    2. For me ahh, I'm not a adventurous person, so I skip right to the food.. Oohh I heard of Plan B, but never go eat before la.. I see many people posting food in FB and all, so I know lor.. Wah, American breakfast looks so canggih.. Eggs, toast, hash brown, sausage and baked beans.. Nice.. Sendiri cook not as nice, hehe..

      Delete
    3. But for me I like to hiking, just I need someone accompany because I kept on remember the robbery case in Rawang last year (I think), when they found those two tourists, they're full of blood lo...super scary, I scared if anything happened to me also, later where I died also no one know...can't go alone, that's why must get a accompany at least!!! =]

      Delete
    4. Oh yes I agree certain places must need people to accompany one.. Cannot go alone.. Scary oohhh...

      Delete
    5. yalor, don't ever go hiking alone!! must have people to go with you, best is in a gang, and also let your family and friends know you are going hiking.. the Rawang case was scary lah, and lately also a guy went lost when he went hiking alone.. scary scary!!

      Delete
    6. Yup, maybe can do it in other countries but not here, hahaha!!! Not scared of the forest or any kind of insects, just scared of "human", hehe!

      Delete
    7. Go shopping or eating, I can be alone la, no problem.. But go hiking wor, better not lor.. Sky not yet bright, still dark dark, already have to start hiking right, to see the sunrise and all.. So better find a gang lor.. Imagine hiking around 3-4am, if alone, wah, chan hai scary..

      Delete
    8. Hiking is better done with someone else.

If robbery, well... two or three also won;t help much id they're armed. But in terms of safety. Anything happen to you, at least got someone to look for help.

There are way too many cases of lost hikers nowadays...

By the way, why on earth would one want to hike at 3-4am? Unless one is climbing Mount Kinabalu and rushing to see sunrise.

      Delete
    9. I tried hiking at 5am at panorama hill in sg. lembing. Reached the top before sunrise in order to check the sunrise and the sea of clouds.

      Delete
    10. oh. ..yeah , i need torchlight to light up the path...

      Delete
    11. Ohh, then maybe not 3-4am, but my friends go hiking around 4.30am, to watch the sunrise and all.. Before the sky turns bright lor..

Oohh Chris, didn't know you like to hike also wor..

      Delete
    12. Princess - I love too but no kaki ! In addition, I also cannot wake up early on weekends to hike :P

      Delete
    13. anytime you hike, still it's better to be in groups, and also try to go to places which are popular with hikers lah.. for eg: Broga Hills, you won't even feel it's 3-4am because the crowd is so overwhelming, that one sure safe!! don't go to secluded hikes, not even anytime in the day..

      Delete
    14. yea safety in numbers. Usually hiking will be in a bigger group. Maybe in overseas those hiking up mount everest will be in lower number but even that will be with trained guide and the people who will help carrying things

      Delete
    15. yeah, i think it's the safety issue here lah.. everyone should be cautious and sensitive to own safety when going to hike :)

      Delete
  5. Wwahahahaha

I write like that ah? :P

The most significant lina's style is pampering a herself by stating as a reward after burning extra calories. Kekeke!

Beside, reading lina's post is like reading English literature, always in well-written English, impressive!

Good job again to SK. Very similar and close to lina's way of writing.

    1. Hiking is fun and healthy. It is a change for me from running on treadmill. At least I can inhale fresh air and see the green. Other than my run in the gym, I can burn extra calories by taking my girls to hike, I see that as a another option for me to bond with my girls and exercise at the same time. Good right?

    2. oh that's great you found another activity to spend time with your loved ones and also can work the sweat out of it!! isn't that fun?? yes, i would say hiking is a fun activity.. not think too much about burning activities, but i guess it's something to freshen us up, agree?? :)

  30. So SK you purposely go hiking just to mimic lina's post? And I read that you said you bought a hiking sandals specially for this event? Wow, you really 用心 la!
I can tell it's a big thing, since I guess you seldom go hiking? Yala you mentioned already you rarely go for outdoor activity.
Anyway, you willing to do all the 'sacrifices' and to try them, just to mimic lina's style, I am lina is very happy and proud ;)
Even the vocabs and 语气 also sounds like her.

And your friends also good, teman you go hiking~
I think not many friends can do that, hehe! So do they know this event is for your blog?

    1. I used to go hiking last time, Taiping Maxwell Hill. For once I even climb all the way to the top! No joke! Usually people take the jeep to go up one, if hike then probably hike til the 3rd or 4th pondok, depends on individual la. It's about 1250m above sea level leh! Now thinking back, I really 佩服 myself for making it, that time I was about 20 years old la, young and energetic! Now,无搞我, haha, I'd pay for the jeep and go up! xD
Leeches? Eeee, I am scared of them too! But they are such amazing creature, can crawl onto us without us realising, and suck our blood!! 想到都怕!

wah, not bad woh, you were able to hike all up to the top of Maxwell Hill.. i think you still can do it now lah, probably need a little bit more training first before you can 再戰江湖!! hehe~~ :p

Actually this place is really nice to visit huh? Not only can do some hiking but also can swim a bit there!
Such a relaxing place, no noise, no pollution, only the beautiful and peaceful environment of the waterfall, and the refreshing feels of those trees and plants.

    2. yeah, it is actually a very nice place to go.. the hiking isn't too tough, and the river crossings are indeed very fun!! but of course you cannot bring Aden to go together lah.. and the big breakfast from Plan B is kind of nice, but seems like the one i had in the same outlet as Lina, was so much smaller in portion :(

    3. Hmm, if want bring Aden must wait til he's old enough, else if he wants me to carry him, I die, haha! He is so heavy now leh...
