2014.02.10 | 豪開支票

[Volume 9 Issue 2, #1858]
if you are still unaware, starting 1st April this year, all cheques will be charged a processing fee of RM0.50 (total RM0.65 including stamp duty), hence it's recommended that we all use fund transfer instead which cost only RM0.10 per transaction.. all these while, i write two cheques to pay for my credit card bills every month, and considering i still have more than 20 pieces of cheques left, i am sure unable to finish using them by the deadline.. instead of having too many left unused and wasted, i am writing three cheques for each payment, haha!! and considering it's CNY season, i am writing the amount in auspicious figures, shyiok sendiri lah.. i think the processing staff will hate me, because they have to do three times the same work but then i also spent three times more effort to bank in the cheque, since your machine takes for granted only one cheque for each card, haha.. well, two more cycles to go before April, i guess maybe i shall rack up to 4 or 5 cheques for each payment?? then i shall nicely finish using all my pieces of cheques before i switch to fund transfer.. :p

  1. Oh, I didn’t know about this, thanks for sharing. Hubby uses a cheque-book, but didn’t hear him mentioning about this. Maybe he thinks mention to me also no use la, coz I don’t use/write cheques.

And yes, I usually transfer my transactions online, especially online shopping, keke – every month without fail, hehe. Talking about online shopping, I miss the online store so much, as they are closed for a month during CNY.

Hubby was cleaning up the closet the other day while I was at work (he belum hoi gong lagi), and he grumbled that I have so many clothes and it took him a long time to clean up the whole thing. And he also cleaned up the individual cubicles for my clips and what-nots. He said, “You have 5 pieces of the same dress, only the color is different, imagine all your dresses are also like that! And you have like 20 pieces of the (same) ribbon hair clips!”

I answered – It’s not same. The colours are different. Girls are like that.

    1. Good Morning Ribbon Princess! You are so lucky to have a hubby to clean your closets! It is more common that wives had to clean the closet and found hubby's skeletons, spiders secrets, phone numbers and what nots! Yeah gals and even aunties are like that, one design and comes in all colours. Anyone could have guessed that you probably own no lesser than 2 dozen ribbons! You should lay them all out and blog about your signature icon. I am sure that would be an eye opener!

    2. He cleaned up the house coz he has nothing to do at home and just basically waiting for the time to pass. We have been like couch potatoes for the past 1 week, surviving on pineapple tarts and shandy everyday from day to nite, serious!

Also, I have been hogging the jar of peanuts (the ones served in most Chinese kiu-soong restaurants while waiting for your food). I don’t know about you but I have gained a few pounds, and my face swelled (with red patches), I suspect from all the nuts.

Oh, why am I yacking about pineapple tarts & shandy now? And also my swollen-face-with-red-patches. Nobody wants to know pun.

If you blog about your red velvet cake (with cream cheese frosting), I promise I will blog about my polka ribbons, hair clips and all the hau-poh stuffs. What say you?

    3. huh?? online store closes for CNY?? adui, got such things meh?? i thought online stores are always 24x7?? i like to shop online late night when the internet is less congested woh, like that how?? closes during CNY and our Princess Ribbon cannot have new ribbons for her CNY Chap Goh Meh celebration already!!

hehehe, yalah, i have already blogged about my antiques and old school photos.. now it's your turn to blog about your personal stuffs lah.. Anay will teach us to bake his very nice red velvet cupcakes, and Princess Ribbons will gag us with her ribbon collections!! yeah~~

    4. Bwahahahaha!!! Got hau-poh stuffs?? First time I hear this word! Yeah, please blog about it la. Aiieeerrrr I only baked Red Velvet once after attending the baking class and now it would be a total disaster cake ~ no practice!...

    5. Whoa, gag you with my ribbons? Yau mou?

I think using my ribbons to gag you still ok, at least still sweet-smelling and cute-looking, so kena gag also still ok.. Better than TM, he once said he will gag us using his socks, then I forgot what else he said. Oh yes, I remembered now. Gag his workers with his socks, then burn them alive!

Holy TM, if I meet him one day, should I be afraid of him? Or if I make my manja face at him, maybe he will spare my life, wahahahaha.. But then again, if he comes to me with his home-made red velvet cake (with cream cheese frosting – again), I think my heart would melt lah, and I would forget about his smelly socks gagging me and then burning me alive after that.

Even if he decides to gag me and burn me alive after that, it’s all worth it, coz I’ve tasted his red velvet cake.

      TM, touched mou?

    6. LOL...Good morning everyone!

yes..i heard too it's going to be increase. There was even rumours that cost rm2.50 each cheque. Terkejut beruk aku but luckily 50 sen only la.

I guess, maybe will end upthe extra 50 sen will be charge to buyer in a business transaction at the end of the day :( Barang naik harga again lor.

what? you have same clothes in different colors ah? Terror la. LOL. Hair clips and pin i know la. Well, I guess you just love the dress style very much la Princess Ribbons. Same like me la. Gila buku.

Your hubby so nice ah clean the closet for you.

wei...dont eat so much peanuts ah...very heaty la...later pimple pop out :(

of course online store got close for CNY la. Mainly those operated by small business owner mah. Not la like Zalora or what. Those tarak close gua

    7. haha, Twilight Man seems to be so intrigued by Princess Ribbon's hau-poh stuff lah, then must blog about them lah, and let all the same style but different color ribbons gag his mouth!! hahaha..

but don't you want to manja manja at him lah.. later his Letchumy will chop off your head lah.. and BTW, don't always think all men will like manja manja lady lor, later you kena slapped kuat on your face until your big ribbon also flown 250m away in the public, then you really no face lor.. hahaha!!

yalah, 50-sen i think some business still no choice gotta use cheque, pay lor nothing they can do what.. but for me, surely whichever way is cheaper i will use that.. so starting April i will be paying my credit card bills online rather than by cheque lor..

    8. Meow, you mean your signature is same with hubby? Wah terror wor.. I cannot imitate my hubby’s signature also leh, coz he sign in “sort of” Chinese characters.. Aku kan banana, tak tau tulis punya, so I don’t think I forever can imitate his signature lor..

When I was in secondary school, form 4 to be precise, I always fail in 3 subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Moral.. Then when time take report card, that time we were big liao lor, no need parents one by one come to class and see the form teacher to take lor, can terus take home the report book and let the parents sign.. Wah that time how I wish I can imitate my dad’s signature and sign on the report book, haiz…

      Delete
    9. aiyoh, how come suddenly say Meow's signature same as her hubby her?? you replied in the wrong thread dei..

hahaha, i never forge my parent's signature last time, just let them sign on my report card and also exams papers lah (yeah, last time we need to get signature even on the exam papers, to prove that we let our parents viewed that).. cos i never worry also, i got good results, hahahaha~~ :D

      Delete
    10. Sorry hah, out of topic a bit here.. Talk talk ha, can touch about forging exam papers and report card pulak..

Eh, call me jakun, I never heard parents need to sign on the exam papers also wor.. My time, just the report book.. Primary school that time need parents (either one) to come to the class and take la.. But by secondary school (form 3 onwards), more “freedom” given as in report book can be given to the student to takw home to let the parents to sign..

I never forged, but I cheated my parents.. This was how I did it.
The report book punya paper is white one rite? So hah, I cut a small piece of paper, just the right size to cover the box where the marks of the paper was written.. Lightly sapu some gum and lightly stick on the box column.. My dad blur blur one la, if I cover the box, he thought I never took that subject, so it looked as if I never took that subject.. So after he signed, wah, huge relieve.. I quickly took back the book to my place upstairs in my room, prayed hard and carefully took off the white paper which I stick on the book..

Wah, thank god tak ada kesan.. If got koya koyak, then habis !! Lucky no koyak kesan and smooth… And my dad’s signature is at the bottom.. Phew !!!

    11. Meow, back to topic, but still out out a bit, coz now, I wana talk about peanuts pulak.. Since we mentioned about peanuts.. You know which type of peanuts I am talking about right.. The ones most commonly served at Chinese kiu soong restaurants the moment we sit down.. Entah lah nama kacang apa.. But I tell you, when the peanuts is served, I macam jakun+hungry ghost will muka tebal take a handful and terus munch without waiting for anyone else, haha..

And yes, my face naik red patches after that.. I think must be due to the kacang.. But cannot say it’s due to the kacang too, coz I ate a lot of prawns la, squid la, etc.. You know, during CNY kiu soong we eat a lot of those things rite.. So maybe “poison” kot, and lagi the weather so hot, so sekali naik lor my face..

But thank god, as at today, my face ok liao.. I am using this “magic cream” meant for babies.. Dunno you heard before or not.. Ezzera.. It’s not cheap.. A tube cost about RM60++.. It’s a moisturizer for babies, mild and gentle and contains no steroid.. I actually bought it for baby G, and 1 day when my face naik red patches like this, I ran out of ideas on what to sapu on my face liao (I have tried all sorts of steroid creams), but tak jadi.. So I applied this Ezzera, eh, then next day, ok wor.. Smooth jor..

Oh dear, why am I talking about baby moisturizer now?

      Delete
    12. i was from the chinese independent school, very strict one lah.. actually not the exam paper, because the exams paper were never returned.. only those test and quiz we need to get parents acknowledgement by signing on the paper lor.. you from SMK one right?? then sure got more freedom lah, haha~~ we have two big scale exams each year, mid year and end of the year.. and then numerous numbers of tests and quiz along the year.. so we studied a lot one wokay??

wah, this Princess Polka Ribbon so naughty to play truant!! but luckily your father also blur blur huh?? and he also sign the report book very fast?? if not, if he slowly read everything ah, your glue also hardened already, then want to peel the white paper off without leaving a trace or koyaking the book also difficult leh..

oh those peanuts i know lah, i call it "yao dao" (oil nuts).. okaylah, i am not particularly craving for that lor, eat a few lah especially when nothing to do while waiting for the dishes to be served.. normal days won't really go and buy to eat de lor..

aiyoh, your Ezzera so good ah?? but never heard of it lah, it's for baby one ah?? then not bad woh, i think probably very mild for the skin.. but then different people different skin, so ngam you but may not ngam for other people lah.. Meow can try lah, cos she always read books until 4am baru go sleep, sure a lot of "hui foh" and red spots on her face..

      Delete
    13. Wah, SK you must be free today, got time layan me.. Usually you where got time so fast layan all the comments, hehe.. Oh ya la, the peanuts call “yao dao”? Means direct translation “oil bean” izzit? I also didn’t purposely buy, but my in law’s did, and they have a big (I really mean BIG) jar of this “yao dao”.. The jar is high and long type, triple the size of regular pineapple tart cookie jars, you imagine what I mean? Wah, imagine I ate half of the jar of “yao dao”, the next day, ooops, actually not the next day, the night itself, naik liao the red patches on my face..

Oh yes SK, I was from SMK, yeah, so more freedom kot, as in bringing home the report book to let (either one) parents to sign.. Oh yes, my dad was very fast also la in signing the book, that was why when I took the book up to my room after that and took out the “sticky paper”, it left no kesan lor.. If the glue had properly dried and I took it out after that, sure jialat liao.. That time, I really don’t know what would happen to me.. Thinking back, I felt clever, but at the same time, scary also.. Imagine if I kena caught, then how?

Yep, the baby cream is actually meant for babies.. You know, when babies have sensitive skin or eczema or any (dry) skin problems, they can use Ezzera.. When all else fail, I turn to Ezzera lor.. Helped me a few times liao.. I tried all sorts or steroid creams like Hydrocortisone, Elomet, Nizoral, Daktarin, everything, you name it (all with steroids), but nothing worked after a while coz my skin sort of got immuned to it liao.. So sekali put baby cream (without steroid) pun it works wor..

    14. Oh no I won't bake Red Velvet Cake again unless SK gets married once again! Muahahahaha

SK is free that's why we can see his honoured appearance in the replies. I went to Christian brothers school which was supposed to be strict. The principal hid a cane inside his white robe to flash out like zorro! I still played truant too and went to watch movies!!!

      Delete
    15. yalah, i think better drop by to comment little by little.. otherwise if i accumulate the comments, it would be too difficult to reply them sekaligus lah..

wah, this Princess Ribbon!! must extend her title to become Princess Peanut Ribbon already, muahaha!! she can eat half a jar of the peanuts at one go, fuyoh, scary dei!! no wonder straight away the heatiness come lah!! later her face also like her polka ribbon already, hehehe!! but she got Ezzera to help her woh, so eat as much as she can also no problem..

eih, by the time i get married once again, red velvet cake no more popular and trendy lah.. faster bake another round and PosLaju to all of us.. maybe the next thing to bake will be Yellow Satin Donuts already~~

    16. During my primary school, I always let my mom sign the report card early in the morning when she took me to school, hahaha!!! So she doesn't have time to check my results, as I always failed Malay all the time felt so embarrassing that time....x.x!!! But when secondary school is different lo, very proud to ask my mom come to school all the time, hehe...no more curi-curi actions.....

      Delete
    17. haha, luckily i am never afraid of getting my report card or papers signed.. i am always good student, and never failed any subjects before during school~~ during secondary school, passing mark is 60, my worst subject which was music (test us on singing lah, KNS) also ngam ngam pass got 60 marks!! haha~~

      Delete
    18. Hahaha, good for you la, I was very naughty during primary school, very lazy to study, always get 30+ for BM....awe......luckily I score well in SPM, if not got to study again in college as the requirement subject for those who failed BM in SPM!

      Delete
    19. Wah, SK's passing mark is 60 ahh? I remembered (if I am not wrong), our passing mark is 40. So if the student got 38 or 39, the teacher will tutup mata and just give 40 to pass the student..

And you know what? I think I pernah got 15 for Physics and 19 for Chemistry! Gawd, I hated those 2 subjects you know?

If I could turn back the clock once again, I would have taken Arts in secondary school and took Perdagangan (Commerce & Business). But then again, thinking back, we had no choice, we were "not allowed" to choose much those days. They "automatically" distributed us to the classes based on our Form 3 results (PMR)...

So those days, when a bunch of your friends were distributed to that class, we tend to follow. Takkan everyone went to Class ABC (and stick together until Form5), and me alone requested to go to Class CBA meh? So I also sort of forced myself to go with the flow, which I regretted so much.. Coz after Form 5, I took Arts subjects also and got my degree in Business (and not Science)..

      Delete
    20. yeah, i know SMK passing mark is only 40 but our school set the passing mark at 60, even if you get 58 or 59, the teachers are not allowed to give you just 60 to pass you, i think they will be audited and need to write a report why the did so.. and even karangan has a mark limit not more than 70, if the teacher has to give over 70 then must write a report to the supervisor lah..

aiyoh, 30 marks for BM ah?? haha, sorry but really that bad meh?? and 15 for Physics, aiyoh!! how can that be?? sorry ah, did you all mean out of 100 marks?? hehehehe, luckily i've never got such low marks before lah..

aiyoh, going to arts or science stream is not by your own choice but by the school's automatic distribution according to your results?? that means you had very good results in order for you to get into the science stream lor?? yierrr, can like that one meh?? no interest to study, then sure cannot get good results one mah..

haha, which bank woh?? either they are under-staffed or they have very huge transactions.. but then i thought the cheque clearing are now done centrally?? or they do it at branch level??

      Delete
    5. Yah, for company payments!!! Is ppb, it's at branch level!!!

      Delete
    6. Yes...have to collect chq early coz BNM have cut off time. If slow then cham lor. Before and after CNY is the period than bankers manyak takut. Sure bank crowded. with people masuk money and change new notes.

If PBB ...i think it's huge transactions la. My morning "office" here I also heard they using PB. Baru the other day before CNY the staffs busy about going to PBB take money coz their co issue them cheque. say go to the same branch bank in can immediately the cash masuk. if lain branch then have to wait pulak

      Delete
    7. yeah, i think PBB got very high transaction volume, and somemore all big amounts also one.. cut-off time for cheques now is 4:00pm mah, unlike last time before 2:00pm must quickly bank in your cheque.. somemore now the clearing is way faster, i think next day already okay.. hehehe, i worked in a bank for 6 months before last time, so i knew a bit about the old cheque clearing system lah..

      Delete
    8. Yah, that's why my sis like the cheque transaction way..

    13. yalah, i hate those phone calls lah, really BTH.. and just like our credit cards lah, if we didn't pay them then they will charge us expensive interests, but if we pay more than our balance, they never pay a single sen of interest on our excess credit??

      Delete
    14. Hahaha, yah la!!! Talk about credit cards remind me of those in the shopping center booth, I always try to avoid those people who approach me, cause once you start to answer them, then they won't ever let you go...@.@!!!

      Delete
    15. Lucky you all get approached by credit card promoters.

They all usually ignore me. Sucks wor when sometimes I do want to apply for that particular card but I don't want to act desperate and approach them instead. Bwahaha

I must've look very poor to afford a card. :P

      Delete
    16. Huh??? How could this happened??? They always approach me, which makes me purposely walk the other way round.....

      Delete
    17. errr, i thought those credit card roadshow promoters will never miss any person?? whoever walked passed they will try to sell and will also follow you for at least 20 meters?? maybe Lina looked like a rich tai-tai who has all the cards from all the banks already, so they didn't bother to go near~~ :D

      Delete
    18. Yah la, I always have to pretend phone rings then only can escape...or pretend on a phone when passed by it, some more they stand in front of elevator, force you to take the flyer and kept on promote once you apply you'll get free air asia flight ticket......

      Delete
    19. those flyer distributing still okay lah, cos they just give you and won't say anything and persuade you, most of the times i just don't take also.. and you are right, sometimes i will quickly take out my phone and pretend i am using it, then the promoter won't come near.. or else, if they keep trying to hardsell, i will very straight forward to reject them lah.. especially credit cards, just tell them you hate this Bank and have just cancelled the card two days ago.. then they cannot do anything~~ :D

aiyoh, if fly to Sibu then the angpow also cannot cover the airticket lah.. why so troublesome.. just send the angpow to us using PosLaju, that's more economical lah, hahaha!! just give everyone of us maybe RM88.88 plus RM8 PosLaju fees, added up also just a small fraction of the angpow he gave to Huai Bin hor?? hehehehe~~

Now I have given up writing and let her carry the book while I pay everything into ATM machines since my house is just short walking distance to 5 banks! I have heard of 3 robberies at these 3 different banks since I moved her!! Scary! I think cheque books are still safer and convenient except that it takes time to clear. SK you are so aunty and calculative in saving money by summing all into one cheque. Very cleber boy!

    2. I feel safe and happy to hear your rants always when comes to consumers getting exploited! I always seek your eyes too for big bargains.

      Delete
    3. Yes, cheque books are safer, but online transfer is still more convenient lor.. Can do it in just a click in front of our pc. But sometimes, when technical issues happen, then we tend to curse like hell.

Like when we are in the process of transferring halfway, then request for TAC, then the TAC never reaches our sms, then tulan lor.. Then have to log out and re-log in again, coz the session will expire after 1 minute (if the TAC never reaches).

This is (I think) the only thing I hate most about online transfers lor.

errr, i am fine with either cheque or online transfer lah.. not so much of a hassle with me.. maybe last time still a bit taken aback lah, but now online purchases really are so convenient and i am doing that a lot already.. so i think it's time we do away with all the papers and also queues but get things done with just mouse clicks only..

    6. I OK with online transfer.

TAC or whatnot also as they are put in place for our security.

    7. i am always OK with online transaction lah.. my TAC comes to me very promptly and i never have problem with that.. better have that lah, i like this idea because the numbers are dynamic and not fixed like a password anyone would guess.. true that it's better be troubled a bit than kena jadi fraud victim la..

But I heard having multiple signatures is also not a bad thing la... Just that we need to remember very well which signature is for what purpose ;)

I agree, must support and love the environment by doing things paperless! And save times and petrol too!

    7. i think what lina meant was not multiple signatures, but one signature and yet she cannot sign the same one consistently?? some people are really like that, the signature always lari one~~

    8. haha, we all miss you mah Claire, and thought you must be enjoying your summer in Melbourne.. but what you said is so true lah, spending quality time with your loved ones is the most important thing you would want to have.. money, spent already can earn them back.. that is why you swipe your Platinum card happily so many times right?? hehe~~

    1. yalor, now i think everything can do transfer and bank-in, really a lot more convenient than paying by cheques.. somemore they also prefer direct transfer lah, cos the funds is immediate no need to wait for the cheque to clear..

      Delete
  12. Actually, processing for cheques quite troublesome so I guess the banks are trying to lessen the manpower i.e. officer-in-charge for the cheques and promote more paperless transaction while trying to make profit through it by charging higher fees for the cheques.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. agree, they have to check the account balance, then have to verify the signature.. and verifying the signature is a bit tough, sometimes it looks like a fake one but it's really from the account holder, dilemma between granting that or not.. and then all the key in of data and whats not.. if everyone just uses the online transfer, then the transaction is immediately completed and no need any more backend intervention.. surely the bank would love that more than having to process the cheques..

  13. I am still using cheques to pay for my credit card bills every month. So may have to switch to fund transfer by April!

  14. But I think they should not charge the 10 sen for online fund transfer. Should be free.

    1. it's already a very good improvement because it used to be like RM2 or RM1 i remember, that is why people prefer to use cheques.. but if they are promoting paperless transactions (so that the Bank can save cost on all manual processes), i think they have to reduce the charges, and eventually this will be free..

  15. LOL!! Writing so many cheques just to finish them off? Need or not? :D

    3. yalah, even the Bank will only give personal cheque books one at a time lah.. maybe Fay is a businesswoman that pays a lot of money using cheques so she has three!! :p

    1. yeah, though convenient the online banking can be prone to security breaches.. but i think i would rely on the Bank's security policy and practices on their infrastructure (which is a must by BNM guidelines), i do not know how secure my device and internet connection are, haha!!

    1. Don't know good or not by imposing the RM0.50. Partly, if more ppl use fund transfer, will save more paper. Anyway, the cheque doesn't have any impact on my daily life la... I've been using online banking and I really like it! So convenience !

      Delete
    2. should be RM0.65 and that's quite a big figure considering it was imposed on each cheque. I think many businessman will be there cursing already. haha

      Delete
    3. yeah, i guess i will switch to use online transfer after April, so i do not want to waste so many cheques, afterall i have already paid stamp duty for them.. just write more and give the Bank more work lah, haha!!

yeah, i think online transaction is better, faster and more convenient, and it will save the Bank a lot of manual work too..

  20. I din't know about this new rule! Haih, at the end, it's all about money! What also increase, only salary no increase! This kinda thing also need extra charge?? What the........ >.< Though I hardly use cheque la but then I feel so unfair lo!

But I really salute your creativity, and also the thoughts of not wasting the cheques just like that, haha xD
So geng, separate them into 3 cheques each by writing your own auspicious numbers! And yes, for sure the staff will hate you a lot!!! xD

    1. But just curious, how come you din't do the auto deduct thingy? You mean every month you need to pay your credit card bills by writing cheques? Sounds kinda troublesome leh...
If can auto deduct from savings accounts, it'll be so much convenient and paperless!

      Delete
    2. Hopefully you will be able to finish using all the cheques la! And also can find a better way to pay bills, hehe.

Fund transfer sounds like a better idea, I always do that via internet banking. But sometimes, some parties don't support fund transfer, so have to use pay bills instead lo.. Depends on what kinda transaction also la, right?

      Delete
    3. errr, actually i think they are encouraging the people to use online transfer lah.. like that the bank will have less work to do.. you know lah, processing the cheques need a lot of manual work, and the staff will read thousands of cheques a day at night shift until the eyes also sore, haha!!

errr, my account and credit card are from different banks.. i charge everything to my card using auto debit, but when comes to pay the credit card then have to use cheque lor.. cos before this the online bank fund transfer they charge your RM2 per transaction mah, use cheque is cheaper.. but now if they are charging only RM0.10 for online transfer, of course use online lah, somemore immediate and no need to purposely go to the bank to deposit the cheque..

      Delete
  21. But actually I enjoy writing cheques, maybe I enjoy the satisfaction... does anyone have this kind of feeling?

    ReplyDelete
  22. But if company pay me salary, I prefer them to INTERBANK GIRO to me rather than give my cheque as I need to physically go down to the bank to deposit the cheque

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oops! Am I contradicting myself, I said I prefer atm, fund transfer and cash but yet I said I love writing cheques but maybe for different purposes, if someone pays me, I prefer them to transfer to me cos it is faster mah...

  24. I no use check book, so as my husband. He didn't use too. We only use online banking to pay Credit Card payment.

Looking at those checks you prepared. I want to praise your very neat handwriting. So neat and beautiful like those printed text. My April does have the same neat handwriting like SK.
