2014.01.27 | 我愛贈品

[Volume 9 Issue 1, #1854]
one quick glance at my desk and i can easily spot a lot of freebies that come with my sundries and groceries.. that is one of the reasons why i always like to browse around in supermarkets, even though i do not have anything specific to buy, simply browsing and perhaps there could be surprises for me to spot nice freebies, haha!! and i can be so uncle that i will buy the items for the freebies, because there are always things i find useful and they come free with the things i buy, though we gotta pay slightly more for that (sounds absurd but that's a norm in Malaysia, though mentioned FREE but when you compare it with the usual one without freebies, the one that comes with freebies is slightly more expensive!!), but why not?? i usually can't resist, hehe!! anyway, i love all kinds of free nice containers, bowls, plates, mugs, toys, stationery etc and i think they are worth for that little extra money, afterall you may not get them sold separately or, even so, at that low price.. and nah, i don't feel embarrass if one sees a huge brand printed on my stuffs, i find them uniquely money-cannot-buy instead, haha!! so, this is the uncle side of me, but who doesn't like freebies may i ask?? :p

Inside the meeting room ahh, kept yawning you know.. But of coz la I closed my mouth and tahan not to open my mouth when yawning.. You know my head kept thinking about what ahh? Kept thinking about replying SK’s blog la, hahahaha.. I was thinking “aiya, faster la end the meeting, I wana go out and reply SK’s blog”..

    2. Sekali pandang I thought siapa punya kid’s stuff and what-nots, then read read ha, eh, all belongs to Uncle SK pulak.. What attracted me was that Mickey mug.. Buy what got that free mug?

    3. Ok, back to the freebies topic..

I seldom go to the supermarket coz I told you before ma, usually one needs to stay at home to look after the kids, while the other can go out to shop (for house groceries) in peace.. So in my case, usually I’m the one staying at home to look after the kids, and the hubs go out to buy house stuffs..

So you know la, men.. (I mean my hubby only).. He doesn’t really lookout for freebies, and he’s not really aware of it also, so leh, usually I don’t have many freebies like mugs, plates, etc..

    4. aiyoh, so early in the morning you have the "sports car" meeting already?? hahaha, aih, so early meeting really not quite productive also, i think the best time for meeting is 10am like that lor..

aiyah, freebies mah, so cannot choose much also.. next time tell your hubby to stay at home to take care of the kids, while you can happily shop in the supermarkets to hunt for the freebies mah.. especially when you realized your house has not got enough plates and bowls and mugs :p

      Delete
    5. Eh, 9am that time was normal company meeting.. Everyone went inside and yawned and listen to tokok stories.. The sports car meeting was after that company meeting, separate discussion, kekekeke..

      Delete
    6. aiyoh, tell your boss lah, don't make the meeting so early lah, everyone will just yawn inside there only.. allow everyone to come in, have a cup of coffee and had their breakfast, turned on the PC and surf net awhile, then baru walk in for the meeting, like that sure more "jing sun" one..

  3. But I can story you, I’m kiasu over other freebies – goody bags!

    1. Neh, when we go to exhibitions kan, like furniture expo la, reno expo la, most of the booths will have goody bags to attract people to stop by their booths kan?

Hah, I always pretend walk near them, then make my poker face, like very enthusiastic like that to know about their products, and hope they will give me their goody bags (usually after filling up some personal information and answering some general questions).. hehehe..

Lastime leh, before married, we always have so much time (to waste), we always look forward to exhibitions in shopping centres.. Then when there's one coming up, we always look forward to that date.. Haha.. Then we would stand outside the entrance and wait for them to open...

Coz you know la, they will have more time to layan you when there is not so many people.. When more and more people start to come in, they malas mau layan also la.. Coz we only wana go to their booth to get their "small" freebies like pens and magnets.. keke..

      Delete
    2. I am not malu to admit la.. Even of their booths don’t have goody bags also, I will still stop by every booth to eye on their “small” freebies like pen, magnets (and even sweets)..

Wait, sweets? Princess polka ribbon, you must kidding.. Come on, sweets? Yes, sweets. Full stop.

      Delete
    3. Ok, after talking about exhibition booths, let’s talk about kid’s parties or open house pulak..

When Kenzie boy was still in his previous nursery, they have this festival open house… Of course we went there empty handed.. When we reached, I already saw every kid holding 1 goody bag..

Well, not an expensive goody bag la.. Just some jellies and candies inside.. But being an aunty kiasu, I was still excited over those goody bags, haha.. Baby G was only about 6 months old that time.. In my heart, I was already thinking “Will they give Baby G one goody bag too, coz he’s still so small”…

Then when they really gave me 1 extra goody bag (for baby G), wah, I was so happy, but of coz I didn’t show out via my facial expression la..

Of course my mouth said “err, no need la, baby G still a baby” (but in my heart I was hard-up of the goody bag also la), kekekeke..

    4. Ok, exhibitions and kid’s birthday parites done, one more to yak ~ Food demo, haha.

Neh, those food demo in shopping malls.. Especially on their electric stove, steamer, blender, etc.. Coz after they finished cooking, they will offer the food to the people ma..

Everyone would be patiently waiting for the demo to finish, so that they can get a taste of the food being cooked la..

      Delete
    5. When I was at this PWTC for the homedec expo, they are promoting this V**s delicooker la.. So they showed lor, what food bring cooked on the stove, etc..

They toasted bread (with butter), then boil a tong-sui and steamed some tofu and fish cakes.. We were patiently standing there observing their demo, coz we were quite interested also.. Then after the demo finished, they asked us to taste the tong-sui wor, see nice or not, then they also asked us to try the toast bread, see crunchy or not..

See, dapat makan free by just standing there.. Good hor..

      Delete
    6. Next, there was this booth selling blender+cooker, two in one.. I remembered they blended some beans like soya beans, red beans, oats and what-nots, added milk and rock sugar, blended it, then cooked in the same device. After about 20 minutes, “beep beep”, ok liao.. They poured out the bean beverage into paper cups, and distributed to us to try the drink.. See, can get another free wholesome drink liao..

      Delete
    7. So leh, yes, I am also interested and attracted to anything free, hehehehe.. Not only physical goods like free mugs and plates (and goody bags), but also free food tasting and all.. Haha..

Being an aunty kiasu, I am always attracted to any free recipe books (but usually that would be given if we purchase some cooking ware from them).. So normally, I would try my luck.. Go over to them and ask "Can I just have that recipe book".. I know, you wana *phiak* me liao.. Where got people wana foc the recipe book to me if I did not purchase anything from them leh, kan?

Neh, I remembered I was at this Homedec expo also.. They were demonstrating on the steamer with 4-5 tiers.. Everything steamed.. Healthy.. Perfect for working parents and those who have no time to cook.. So you just chuck everything into the steamer and steam..

The whole time, I was eyeing on their recipe book lor.. Because I feel the receipe book is very useful.. Imagine all food steamed, using the tier only.. Healthy pulak, no oil splatters.. But of course in the end, I did not manage to "curi" the recipe book lor..

Hey I have the same Kit Kat mug la! Keke, very good to use, not too big not too small, just nice, I use it to make my morning Milo ;))
Looks like you collected quite a lot of freebies leh! Or is it your family who is the one who collect them? :p
The plates looks nice, from Mister Potato I guess? Very colorful, they sure very creative in creating the plate, appetite also become better when using the plate, cause so pretty and colorful ma!

    1. The 'I love soccer' mug, from what geh? Looks like a big mug, can use to eat porridge or mini maggi mee! And the rest at the back, I guess are normal plastic tupperware kinda thing, right?
I agree, who doesn't like freebies? I like too but I don't collect them on purpose. If the thing I buy happens to have freebies in it, then I'll just take lo! But your collection seems very nice, cause the most common freebies I see is those ceramic plate/bowl, erm toothpaste also have one, haha xD

      Delete
    2. As for the price comparison like you mentioned, of course the manufacturer 'counted' in the freebies's price la, though not completely 100%. They also wanna earn ma, 谁要做亏本生意哦?It just that the word 'free' naturally attract our attention (especially those elderly) that's why there're always freebies inside something. In fact, they already 'counted' the fees inside xD

      Delete
    3. Also, some manufacturer use the word 'limited edition' to attract our attention, making that particular thing so much 'precious' and 'laku'! I guess this is one of the very smart business tactic, like you said, some freebies may not be sold separately, so if I happen to see this kinda freebies, I'll consider to buy =) Of course, it also depends on whether I use that thing or not....

      Delete
    4. hahaha, i thought auntie/uncle post can attract more comments mah, but seems like it's not the case?? maybe all the aunties and uncles are very busy with CNY right now, have to go to supermarkets and hypermarkets to stock up the CNY stuffs.. hmmm, i think there are more chances to get freebies during this period hor??

that Mickey Mouse bowl comes free with two tubes of Darlie family size.. like that at first sight and quickly bought it, very handy and nice to use lah.. i use it to have oats for my breakfast everyday now..

yeah, but then those freebies may be considered as their marketing cost mah.. i don't mind paying just a little bit more for the freebies lah, but cannot be too much and the freebies must be practical and justifiable for that extra lor.. those limited edition ones, errr, i don't care lah.. even if not nice also not use being limtied what, haha~~

  22. I don't buy things because of freebies la! I buy when I need only, if got freebies then it is a bonus gift to me. Unless I like the freebies very much, then I will purposely buy the thing because of the freebies.

Anyway, I know someone who buy things because of freebies, Ah Hua is one of them. Heheheh!
