      Delete
    2. But impossible we dunno abt the Ole Bola rite, coz Astro has been heavily promoting this show.. Everyday I see this ad, and then, wana click the remote conrol pun got that ad in front of the screen..

    3. Eh, so what you want me to talk about those Minion characters ahh.. hehe.. But I like E, very peaceful, charming lady, haha..

    4. Hahahha... Minions are forever cute ! Btw , in surprise Aaron Kwok played the monkey King. He supposed to be the antagonist in the previous movie staring Donnie yen.
Is this a direct sequel of the previous movie ? Boy... Waiting for the dvd to be released!!

    5. No Chris. Is was like another version of Monkey King. I'll get the DVD too later. Too keep it.

  2. Photo A - I also watched this movie during the CRY and loved this Monkey King 2. The surprise was that I am a banana and hardly knew about the story of The Journey to The West. So it was a good eye opener to me.

What Thambee shocked me was that you always avoid watching Chinese movies always!! What happened to you dei?

  3. Photo B- Of course I was jolted by the Minions appearing on the cinema ad. I thought you would share all the other Chinese and porno movies you watch during the recent CNY.
I was quite irked by those political matters by the shallow minded people. Nothing seems to be right these days. Even our Tun M is crossing over!

    1. Photo C- what happened to this Blue Minions? How did he transform from yellow into Blue and grow such a thick moustache? He wears such a thick bead for chanting and armed with a long guillotine weapon! What a fighter!

    2. Photo D - This piggy Minion is very cute with that pointed oink nose! Bwahahahaha He carries the famous rake stick as his legendary weapon! What is his name? In Hokkien we call him Too Pak Kwai.

      Delete
    3. Photo E- I think this Minion in the Guan Yin Pusa manifestation is very funny and cute. If they have this doll in the market, you wanna buy and put on your office table? He wears spectacles some more. Muahahaha

    4. Photo F - whoa!,! This is the Monkey Minion! So alike with lotsa hairs all over. I would say that Aaron Kwok looks more handsome. Why they chose Aaron to be the Monkey King role? I think he has some monkey features! Lol

      Delete
    5. Photo G - This monk minion is the cutest and wears the Heavenly crown ! I didn't know he rides on the Papoy. All the while I mistook this monk to be the Di Zang Wang Bodhisattva as they both looked similar.

Are they using Minions to make Monkey King Part 3?????

      Delete
    6. I guess maybe they may a make a movie out of it provided they pay for the rights of the minions, and I think not cheap. In addition, since it's the minions , they also needed to dub it in English as well as other languages.
I guess it's a massive investment and unless the producing company have lots of resources , it's not easy for them to get the minions to make a movie out of a Chinese literature. Might not appealing to the rest of the world and risky investment.

      Delete
    7. If Minions to be in this movie. It's gonna be a blockbuster movie. I think Minion Journey to the west making movie's budget should be fine. Erm Minions don't speak English 的.

      Delete
    8. DOn't think that will happened la as the Chinese producers needed to buy the rights of the minions, unless the copyrights owners willing to make a movie out of it but I don't think it is appealing to the angmohs. They rather make a Frozen version of Minions...hahahah

  4. When I was small my grandparents did tell me stories about the Monkey King. But I have forgotten what it is all about. I hardly watch Chinese movies because I have to rely on subtitles. But the last few movies I watched were quite enjoyable. These were older movies on DVD. One of them was Eat Drink Man Woman. SO entertaining. But if I have a chance I will watch this Journey to the West with my partner. He can understand and give me a running commentary.

    1. hahhaha! Minions! I like! So there is a minion for each of the character on the poster. They look so funny with their trademark bug eyes. And to see them all dressed up like that hah..hah...

      Delete
    2. C : I am not familiar with that blue character. So I will focus on the blue and bearded Minion. He wears beads and wields a...what do you call that? It's not an axe and it's not a sword. Aiyah, just call it that axe-like thingy. And he wears a purple skirt. I'm sure it's not called a skirt :D

      Delete
    3. D : This character has a pot belly. I can't see him clearly and since you mentioned this character is blocked out from our local posters, I am guessing he is a pig? Anyway, the Minion's tummy is not bulging and he looks rather serious. That thing he is holding is like a garden rake. I see he is also wearing beads with pants and a cloak.

      Delete
    4. E : The Minion version of the Goddess of Mercy is quite comely. I didn't expect a female Minion. I don't remember seeing female version when I watched Despicable Me.

      Delete
    5. F : Oh...I can't help giggling at this one because this hairy Minion looks rather comical with his hair standing up and his big eyes, trying to look cool like the Monkey King. Of course Aaron Kwok is more handsome.

      Delete
    6. G : Now, this is one happy Minion! And I must say that his...what...papoi?...horsie is so cute! Again, I am not familiar with the character he is representing.

  5. Oh, I didn't know the character on the right was removed in cinemas... The other day when I was in Penang, I went to watch Mermaid, I saw this poster there but I was not concentrating on the details.. now you tell me, I should have noticed it.. hahahaha... funny!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hahaha, this is the only Chinese New Year movie that I've missed out, I've watch most of them. But seriously if you didn't mention, I didn't even realize the character has been removed. Hmm, don't know whether they cut of his scenes or not argh?

    1. You seems to watch a lot of movies during CNY!! How was the crowd in the cinema ? I guess it's very crowded since most of the malls are closed and besides bistros and cafes , folks will hang around the silver screen.

      Delete
    2. No 小影. They was asked to remove the Mr ZhuBaJie from the poster. I think people will protest if to remove or cut his scene. The movie becomes not MinionFul already lor. This ZhuBajie played a big role in this movie too. During my time watching this movie, I saw M boys and girls came to watch this movie too. Nowadays they also know how to listen to Chinese ady. Moreover subtitle also have to help them to understand better.

      Delete
    3. Chris It was quite crowded in the cinema, the worst one is the Mermaid, I got to buy like one day before the the movie, if like want to watch it now, the only tickets left over is the very front row seats, very funny that the person who selling the ticket also tell me truly the seat won't be comfortable and tell me buy the next section.

The crowd sometimes got to depend on the time also, it got lesser people during the morning section, like 9.30am or 10am, but suprisingly the latest one can be very crowded.

      Delete
    4. Definitely it is very crowded during as there's not much to do during CNY, and most of the malls are closed. So all folks hang out in the cinemas and furthermore, it's so hot outside.
Aiya...I seldom watch Chinese movies in the cinema as I find it not 'worth it' judging from the quality. hahaha... I wanted to catch one with my wife this year because we got nothing to do but on normal days, we don't watch it. I usually get the DVD/blu-ray.

      Delete
    5. No matter how crowded it is, I will still watch this Monkey King 2 - Aaron Kwok. Chris I agree with you, not all Chinese movie worth to watch in cinema. But just like SK, friend tag along us to watch then we go as well. Or is either free ticket or not is alright. Is the company or a gang od friends we like to hang out with. No matter the movie nice or not, also fee shiok one with friends.

  7. Picture A

Lucky you, I didn't even catch a single CNY movie though my wife and I really wanted to watch Macau to Vegas 3. That's because of our kids who doesn't like movies unless it's animation. And, even if it's animation, they also choosy and make sure its those Frozen, Minions, Lego movies and etc....

We ended up watching most of the movies on the small screen but one good thing is I realised both of us have missed a lot of movies over the years including both Macau 1 and 2. And it was shown on either the terrestrial channel or local channel.

Hahahha...I am sure pigsy is missing from the posters. However, I take a softer stand, since it's a disrepect or for whatever reasons, I think it's all right. Recently, the Christians in SG also commented on Madonna's concert and I felt, though not the same, but there are similarities between both, that is to protect each religion. Having said that, my view here is neutral here and I decided to take a softer stand.

  8. Picture B

hahahahaha.. You never got tired of the minions and they are so cute here! It seems the minions can become anything, from the characters here to Marvels superheroes and etc. I really respect the creator ! It's a 'killer' animation, just like killer apps!

I just bought my kid some little gundams lately and it seems the minions looks like one of them too here. I am sure you will be happy if they make a minion version of Journey to the West...muahahahaha..

  9. Picture C

That's Sha Jing or Sandy, the noble and kind-hearted monk who always by the side of Xuan Zang. I am sure it's drawn by chinese artists as it is blue, since he originated from the water. Yes, he got a mustache and wore beads on his neck.

Very well drawn and illustrated! It really look like a minion version of Sha Wu Jing..hahahha..

    ReplyDelete
  10. Picture D

Perhaps, I guess this minion character could be allowed in the posters compared to the original one...LOL. Anyway, I find that it's not very well drawn leh. Pigsy supposed to be fat but this one seems skinny. It's more like a normal minion with some robes on it.

However, the mouth look very alike the original character. His mouth looks like this, i mean the actor.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Picture E

The Kuan Yin minion is very cute and pretty and looks very compassionate. However, it shouldn't be yellow but should be fair, just like Sha Wu Jing which was blue. Well, maybe they want to keep to the minion features a bit while the entire character already transformed into Kuan Yin.

    It do looks cute!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Picture F

hahahaha...this is the best one so far! Of course cannot compare to Aaron Kwok la, who is a hunk but this is one funny looking minion. Maybe it's more of a Chewbacca lookalike..hahahha... I like the hair where it all combed up to the head. And, the minion looks very cool with the big eyes while chewing on that piece of grass.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Picture G

Oh yes, I agreed with you. This is the best ever minion, even better than Sun WuKong minion in Picture F. In fact, it's very natural, like a minion trying to impersonate Xuan Zang , don't you guys think so ? I like that cheeky laugh ... very trademark of the minions...lol.

The horse also looks cute with the tongue stick out while the minion wore a very nice light blue buddhist robe.

  14. OK, I shall wait for the DVDs/Blu-ray and not for this movie only, also Vegas to Macau 3, Ip Man 3 and Mermaid. The good news is usually chinese movies are released quite fast on the home entertainment once the curtains down. :)

  15. How come got one extra minion in the individual list who is not in the poster - Mercy Goddess? So cute lah those minions!

  16. So this is the only you watch during CNY, impromptu one lor. As I know you seldom will watch Chinese movies in cinema. Yes indeed the visual effect was pretty good lor. Not like many years back, when acting some stunts flying here and there, we still can see the string too. I should thanked all the animation experts and you too SK, do some programming that is why it looks so real.

    1. A: I suggested to watch this with my in laws. I like Aaron Kwok so is a must watch movie in CNY this year. Compared to The Monkey King acted by Donnie Yen, I prefer Aaron Kwok's Monkey King - his size and height suits to be the Monkey King. Handsome hairy Aaron. Muahaha. Furthermore, filming is getting ahead and improving year by year. No doubt, Aaron also wanted to challenge himself to be as a Monkey. He never act as that before all this while, except being the Bull King in The Monkey King part I.

      Delete
    2. B: Muahaha, super duper cute with Minions version. I think I saw in Facelook, got people shared it. All the Minions really looks and wear like them. How I wish if the The Monkey King is played by the Minions, I think can break the Mermaid movie record too. So many of us like Minions. My kids definitely want to see them in action. Can imagine how hilarious their scenes are. Bananana...

      Delete
    3. C: For me the purple minion in Despicable Me is the bad ones. Oh dear look closely and let me have a guess, I think I will call him Dave – SahWuJing. I also can’t imagine they will pick Him Law to be ShaWuJing. Well, Dave is a bit less muscle look. Look at the thick moustache. I can say I like this Dave Minion in purplish. Sounds like being poisoned or like “kena” acid all over the body. See how expert they are? Turn minion into one of the Journey to the West character.

      Delete
    4. Hahaha, is this the little Stuart? This is the only minion in one single goggle mar. I think I name him Stuart – little piggy ZhuBaJie. Not really the same but at least it dress and act the same pose. Slightly make Stuart tummy bigger than should be fine. Something cute here to mention is the lips. ZuBaJie, most of us know his character right? Talk sweet words especially to the opposite sex. Therefore, he must has a nice and sexy lips. Hahaha, A Combination with Stuart Minion’s eye gesture – called it sexy eyes. I’m sure many female will go after him. Kekeke...

    5. I personally think Kelly is prettier than Tom – the Cute Yin. Tom in this is so pretty in Guan Yin’s dress. But it is a yellow Kuan Yin… How to imagine that? These are all not real, it meant for fun! Don’t take it seriously. Today is Friday! Amitabha.

    6. F: Oh no my Aaron Kwok becomes Minion. This is very cute I like this Bob becomes the Monkey King besides Aaron Kwok. Look how cute he is? Hairy Minion too. Eh, I notice they just cut and paste in the minions’ eye, that’s it. Can see that the lips is AARON Kwok one. Then, drag the body becomes shorter… Hmm, Bob suits to be the next and future Monkey King. No wonder this is called the New Version of Journey to the West.

      Delete
    7. SK, you named Bob in this SanZan? You know them better than me. I replaced him to be the Monkey King wor? HEHEHE… Never mind it was my own imagination. I want Jerry to become SanZan. Jerry is riding an unicorn soft toy. Cute. So Papoy means Toys? Happily Jerry the monk riding his Papoy.

      Delete
    8. I think bob is the name of a
Minion not that xuan zang monk or SK purposely name it. Hahahha.. Just my guessing as I'm not a fan of minions. Hahahha.

      Delete
    9. Yes I know Chris. SK name him Bob. But he looks more like Jerry to me. Hehehe.. Jerry is another Minion's name. There are a few Minions are famous especially Stuart, Bob, Dave and few of thems.

      Delete
    10. How I wish this is a series drama of Aaron Kwok becomes the Monkey King. Why? So I can look and stare at him longer. Muahaha. Well, even the real Journey to the West story plot is quite long. This Monkey King 2 it was just a brief movie for me. Not enough...

  17. The minion, all are soooooo cute...

  18. Removing that character due to political or religious sensitivities as an excuse is quite lame for me.

We've watched this on TV also dunno how many hundreds of times. Where got people get offended right?

    Sheeesh.

Politicians and them trying to get some political mileage.

    1. Somehow I find all these never happened on the past. I remember those p ramlee movies on the black and white tv, I thought I saw wine and folks were drinking and smoking including wearing the type of dresses that was a trend then.

When I was a kid , I also saw beer ads in cinemas!

    2. Lina, I actually met a few M boys and girls watching Chinese Movie. Not only this Monkey King, Vegas to Macau and Mermaid too. Most of them they just go to cinema and check which movie to watch. They even willing to sit the first 3rd and 4th row. They were like enjoying themselves watching Chinese Movie. Give them a like!

    3. I am not surprised cos even during my teen year, I saw my M classmates watching HK movies. These are mostly action movies like Jackie Chan, Jet Li or some other action-packed HK movies.

They loved chinese action movies as most of them are entertaining. Of course, I don't think they will love those motion pictures like biography and etc.

Having said all these, there are a lot of M folks studied at Chinese schools. So, no problems for them to understand.

  22. Yes, I know that we watched the movie on the same day. I watched with JAM on Chinese New Year’s eve. I personally like this more than the last year Journey to The West. I personally like Aaron Kwok’s acting as the Monkey King more than Donnie Yen. The story line is very interesting too. April and May enjoyed this Monkey King story very much. I find the weapon of the Monkey King much powerful than the Shield of Captain America. I find the Monkey King’s clothes is more sophisticated than Iron Man’s clothes. Hahahah! I just find our ancient Chinese hero much better than Marvel super hero. It is just my own opinion after watching it.

Ok, let get back to picture A to G one by one.

    1. Picture A: Thanks SK for sharing this original poster on his blog, else I may not know that that funny looking character on the right was removed from the poster in our lovely country only. Sigh! Why getting so sensitive on this character? I just can’t understand.

    4. Picture D: This is hamsap character and it is banned in our lovely country. Luckily the movie is not banned in our country, otherwise it is another controversial. By the way, the minion is very resemble to the real character, I agree.

    5. Picture E: Cute la! This is a lady minion, but this lady minion needs to on diet a bit la! It is too chubby to be the Goddess of Mercy.

    6. Picture F: The lips of this Minion very resemble Aaron Kwok’s lips. No doubt, Aaron Kwok is a handsome Monkey King. He has the feature, he has the body, he is agile like a real monkey and he is getting better in his acting. But let me comment a bit on his personal life, he is too play boy, hehehehe! Can’t blame him, he is too handsome.

    7. Picture G: The very good looking character in Journey to The West is the monk. He is so wanted by all the devils and women, but I personally like the monk in TVB old drama Journey to The West. Monk Bod rides on papoy is definitely cute looking la!

hahaha the mInions counterpart are so hilarious!

the Blue character in this v=movie reminds me of a Character from Warcraft

the pig reminds me of Dragon Ball Z's Oolong while the monkey reminds me a version of Goku

Is this movie subbed or dubbed in English? Cause I am really eager to watch it

  25. Oh so you watched this one... This CNY I din't step into the cinema also... No CNY blockbusters which caught my attention la!
Movie like 西游记 like this, never is in my list. I just not interested in this kinda movie, hehe. So yea, I actually don't know any history of 西游记。 I just know the 4 main characters, haha!

Then movies like war one (like '300'), or 什么清朝one, also not my type. I go watch also am accompanying my partner only, haha! And I belong to the category that, I go into the cinema to watch movie only, I won't go and try to understand/memorize the storyline or whatsoever, so don't think about asking me any questions after the movie, else you probably gonna vomit blood, LOL!

Anyway, the minions version of 西游记 is actually very cute la! Looks real also!
