2014.05.27 | 電影週末

[Volume 9 Issue 5, #1898]
my credit card offers free movie tickets weekly[NB] since more than a year ago, hence i often go watch movies in the cinema during weekends.. i wouldn't have watched movies so often if there is no promotion, but why have i not blogged about movies more often?? guess i should be more mainstream and blog more about what i do and what i eat huh?? at least i don't need to scratch my head too much (don't get me wrong, i don't mean writing about what you do or what you eat is easy, but at least that's a ready topic for me so i don't have to think about something else), hehe.. okay, here are two movies i watched last weekend..
[NB] one free ticket for every transaction of online ticket purchase, up to two free tickets per cardholder and limited to 1000 free tickets a week for grabs.. [link]

    1. Wonder what kind of credit card you're using, how come so good one...got free ticket some more!!! But for me I watch movie for free also, hehe!!! Because my brother or my second brother in law will pay for it!!! But there's also some limitation, they always prefer to watch Hollywood movie, like those HongKong one, they got to see who's the cast first, but sometime the cast also doesn't mean anything, like some movie just can conclude that wasting money and wasting time!!!

    2. I do agree is not easy to write about movie one, first can't give too bad comment on it like what kena before, then if the movie is interesting then you got to write like very interesting to attract or encourage readers to watch it!!! Sometime see those people have put enough efforts on it, then those reviewers might not know, then I'll be felt so bad for the movie team!!! Maybe what outsider mean is just based on the movie itself but it could be the actors or actress have put so much on it just on one or two second scene then they didn't know!!! So I guess if write about movie also got to be neutral a bit then add in some personal opinions, don't criticize too much or give too much negative point of it, I believe they've try their best on it!!!

    3. The first movie I haven't watch so can't comment about it but for the second one, I really like what the Proffesor said: So many battles waged over the years, and yet, none of them like this. Are we destined to destroy each other, or can we change who we are and unite? Is the future truly set?
Sometime people just assume we rushing has been set in the future but it's still be able to change before it happened!!! Don't conclude anything before happen!!! Like if you keep on thinking its gonna be a bad ending so the end might not be any good one, but if really still trying and hoping for a good one, it might not as bad as we thought!!!

Most of the time, I pay him back if I use it to buy my own goodies.. But I don’t pay him back for the petrol.. been going on for years ever since I started driving.. He will pay for my petrol.. Ala, I drive small ciput car only, so my petrol is very little every month..

    3. You mean you use the credit card to pay for movie tickets? Set up online account and transaction straight using credit card? Call me jakun, I don’t use credit card for online stuffs.. Only normal bank transfers, for my online shopping..

    4. And call me jakun, if I go watch movies, I usually go Q-up.. I never bought online before.. Afterall, after having two kids, I seldom go watch movie liao..

The last movie I’ve watched was Robocop, and that wasn’t even in the cinema.. Hubby downloaded it, and we saved it in the hard-disc.. And only watch it when we have time..

    5. We missed so many movies liao.. And Transformer is coming up.. Guess we shall have to wait for it to be available to download.. We missed LEGO movie, which we wanted Kz to watch, we managed to find it in the download channel, but unable to download pulak.. Sigh..

    1. During paktor time, morning show (10.30am) was cheaper, RM7 only.. But after that, no more morning show, they were making a loss I supposed.. Everything started to be standardized at RM14 after that..

    2. I am blessed that watching movies is cheap in Malaysia compared to Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan! Wow! The tickets in Japan is so expensive! Now SK gets free tickets some more! Lagi blessed banyak kali.

    3. I remembered the cinema's Child tickets were like 60 sen when I was a kid. Later it was RM1.40 for downstairs and RM2.00 for upstairs seatings. Now all seats are 1 class in slopes!

    4. During my paktor time, I alway watched with my gf/wife but now, with two monsters around , it;s difficult. And they are choosy, only want animations. So, I rather go alone.

    5. same here la, Sharon. Over here weekend also more expensive than week days and wednesday always the cheapest and have certain discount if use certain cards.

But then cannot convert like that la. if you convert like that sure malaysia is cheaper but you are earning singapore dollars . if let say 1:1...i think maybe the price will be similar la.

ya lor last time pak tor movie tix only around RM5 RM7 ....now rise up to RM10 and those couple seat rm20...horrifying. ahemm...those couple seat for what ah....raba raba ka? LOL

Yea...my time still have upstairs and downstair leh...The Petaling st REX cinema and the old Klang road punya....and also Kuchai lama punya. I still remember watching ALIEN(yup it was that long ago) in Kuchai lama cinema and a big fat rat ran across the balcony. That time can bring in those kuaci, fishballs and whatever stinky stuffs mah.

That cinema now is a church liao. Full Gospel Assembly Church. people said convert to church coz the cinema was haunted. Nobody dares to take over. Now become church so okay already.

I think Alien was the first violent or horror movies. Those times special effects not that good as in now in X-MEN: Days of Future Past. But still I was so scared till dare not go to toilet at night. Scared got creepy alien on the roof.

      Delete
    6. Ya same here la, the cinema at Taiping is MBO. And seriously I think their tickets are overly priced! One ticket cost RM 14! Just normal seating, not couple seats some more.
I remember tickets in GSC/TGV also no need that expensive!

LOL, you are so funny Mamarazzi, what raba raba la? xD
Erm actually I don't know about you all but if couple seats are available, hubby and I will sure buy couple seats. Yep it's slightly more expensive but we enjoy the seats, since it's much more spacious, and we sit at the top-pest seat, no one will kick our seats from the back (but we can kick people's seat in front, wakkaka, just kidding la, we sure won't do that), and we are the nearer to the door, wanna go toilet also easier, no need climb staircases (later too dark fall down pula).

  7. I usually go for movies on my own after work during weekdays as it is cheaper. I would go for those popular ones after they have been shown for a while and going to take down soon. The cinema usually would be empty with only 10+ folks. Less crowd and I truly enjoy the quietness. And the cinema is nearby.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. after work u still have time to go for movie? I thought working in singapore very stressful leh.

Less crowd in cinema also good. Can choose which seat you want and also less people kacau...like kicking your seat or talking in the phone.

    2. Hmm Mamarazzi, may be he is good in releasing stress? I think he mentioned in his blog that he workout weekly, and eats good food with his family very often, may be that's how he destress? ;))

Yea, if the movie has been showed for weeks already, the ticket would be cheaper.. But if not many people in the cinema, it'll be very cold and a bit 'too quiet', I don't like, hehehe :p

Cook one bowl of Maggie Mee still sempat.

    4. Mamarazzi, J don't like going to the cinema? Or his daddy and mummy are too busy/not interested?

Hmm, paktor time sure patronize the cinemas very often la, cause nowhere to go, so watching movie is a great way to spend time. Plus just two people, 'hou yi wah wai', free and easy, can go for cinema anytime.
But after got kids, things changed lo, cannot simply go for a movie, must have someone to look after the kids. If bring kids to the cinema also must wait for animation movies, those U-rated movies.

Angeline, haha, yea, watching movie at home got its own pros geh, can sit or lie down, then can eat whatever we want! We sure cannot eat Maggie Mee in the cinema! LOL!

Yeah it is a rubbish at the end, after all the picture is more sharp and clear better for our eyesight. Sound also better - different feel leh. Talk about the DVD accumulation - we've more than 6 medium boxes in the store room...I think I can open a stall at any pasar malam - sell cheap cheap away...LoL

Anyway if really can jadi also is a good idea to destress and catch up la!

    1. School holiday has just begun, we can watch more movies already. My choice always limits to animation cartoon like Rio2, Frozen etc. Then Marvel movies like Spider, Captain America, and etc, my husband like action movies also. So, we will watch Transformer. Yannie likes comedy and romance movies, but I seldom watch those movies. I will just follow the choice of my family when comes to movie. Hehehe! Sound so pathetic, right?

      Delete
    2. Spider Man II isn't good I heard, right?
Godzilla, I watched, erm not bad la, no one can guess the Godzilla is the good buy this time, hehe!
Yea, Transformer, I also look forward to that, though the main actor has changed, sob sob.

Haha, it's not pathetic la, it's a blessing to be able to watch movies together with our loved ones, regardless of what type of movies. I guess that's the major change happens to parents, we put our kids' interest as first priority, though sometimes we might not like to watch animation series. But when they're happy, we are happy too! I believe that's a happy 'sacrifice' every parents feel. Soon, I'll be in that category too! Planning to introduce cinema movie time to Aden when he turns 3 years-old.

    2. It is a religious movie about Jesus, maybe because it is a sensitive topic so it is not showing in Malaysia

  29. Nowadays I don't really fancy fiction movies because they are not real, wonder why? Maybe because age is catching up or simply just a change of interests

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hmm, I do agree our taste will change as time goes by, not necessarily have to do with age la but just something very natural la! Sometimes just explainable.
I don't super love fiction movies too but I don't mind to watch, erm it depends on who is the actors and actresses too!
Do you guys realize movies these days are 80% about fiction and sure involving those CGs? Even those movies from HK/China also same, some Taiwanese dramas too! It's like the producers are competing to see who can produce cooler and more high ends movies, those that can give very high 'wow' effects.

  30. Just think that it's really good to have a credit card that gives free ticket all the time! I use Citi and they had buy 1 free 1 for TGV last time, but not anymore.

  32. Eh this HLB credit card is quite good wo, at least they offer something useful, I don't have any HLB credit card but my brother does, but never hear him telling me about this geh? Hmm may be he does receive something similar la just that he din't tell me, plus he is working at Singapore, we meet like only once a month, hehe~
I have a credit card from HSBC, not sure if they offer free movie ticket, but they do offer discount on shopping/dining, I think that's quite ok also la, as a reward for the customers. We also can collect points and redeem free gifts, this tactic I find not so friendly, in order to redeem something really 'big' and useful we need at least 100,000 points or something! So I usually just redeem RM 50 cash back, this one I think needs about 10,000 points only?

    1. I have Maybank credit card only. Then I have better a better status credit card from my hubby and still from Maybank. So far never came accross they gave free movie ticket. Same like yours dining and shopping.

    2. Ya lor how to redeem sampai 100,000 points hor? I also redeem RM50 cash voucher better still.

    3. Hmm yea, we are not those bosses doing business so impossible to get so much points in a short time!!
But at least can redeem cash back, or waive the annual fees, better a bit la!

  33. Ok so this is what you usually do during weekend? Patronizing the cinema? Well if you din't mentioned we won't know that you actually watch movies quite often, cause like you said, you hardly blog about movie review wo...
Actually writing movie review isn't easy, I mean a true professional review, haha! You see mine, very cincai and short, well I can write the whole story but then it'll be a spoiler for my readers, which I think not good. So sometimes I just copy and paste the synopsis from those website. But usually I will mention those worth-mentioning points la, like in terms of actor/actress, and a bit of the storyline, and the CGs.
I realize not many readers like to read movie reviews, as I can see my comments drop whenever it comes to movie review post. But I don't care la, it's my blog I can blog whatever I like and comfortable with. It's one way to increase my number of posts, cause sometimes really running outta ideas and topics on what to blog, kekeke xDD

  34. Okay, so let's see what you have watched lately.
The first one, Chef, opps, I haven't heard about it at all! I think cinema here never show also. The cinema here is not those big one like GSC or TGV, so they only show big blockbuster movies, and those local movies (cause of publicity ma). I think this Chef movie isn't a blockbuster that's why not showing here.
Among those names mentioned in the poster, I know only Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr., hehe, the rest all tak tau~ May be I recognize their faces la but not the names lo.
Hmm, from your review, this sounds like a fun movie to watch, no need to think or guess who is the bad guy and all, a friendly family movie I'd say? Shall ask my hubby to download, I love Robert's movies! He is very good in acting! And what I like about him is his machoness, yea he might not be the actor at my age but I still think he looks hot, at his age!
And Scarlett Johansson, I love her! She is so beautiful, and I love her voice! She is same age with me you know? But she looks much more matured, with her own uniqueness.

    1. As for the second one, hmm, I am not a fan of any X Men installments, having said that, that means I din't watch any of the X Men series.
I do love Hugh Jackman, he is very macho also! But I don't fancy story like this, just don't know why.
Yea, Days of Future Past, sure a confusing title! But movies these days must have confusing cool title like this in order to attract attentions, who cares if it's confusing? I think not many people will go and think about the meaning of the title, people pay more attention to the storyline la!
Oh so Wolverine does very little fights in this chapter?
This type of movie all rely on lots of CGs la, look at Mystique alone will do. I kinda like her (though I don't watch this movie) in this movie, she looks so cool!! Blue, my all time favorite color leh! Plus can show her bodyline, haha!

Anyway, thanks for sharing these 2 movies! I am eager to watch the first one~
