I still remember vividly a few years back, when I took my elderly dad for a follow-up appointment after his eye operation. That day, it was an Asian nurse in her late 40s attending the reception (Royal Eye & Ear Hospital, Melb). While waiting for dad's turn, I noticed her politeness and patience with the OZ patients, esp. the elderly. Fr her accent, I also knew she was M'sian or S'porean. I thought to myself - wow, classic Asian virtues. 还是自己人呢。Heartwarming. But this thought was shortlived. When it came to dad's turn, her attitude changed. She became cold, straightfaced and talked without looking at us. Due to dad's hard of hearing (being in his late 70s), she became impatient & rude. She assumed I was merely a government appointed interpreter. "Tell this old man, blah, blah, blah..". That was when I leaned fwd, stared straight in her eyes and "screwed" her real hard: centre, left & right (verbally of course ;). Given her face, I wouldn't even touch her with a pole. Sorry. Probably sound a bit chauvinistic :p ). "Hey you, this old man happens to be my father!...", I blasted her a good minute or two, right in front of everyone. Funny to see her embarassed, shell-shocked face. Miraculously, she became apologetic & polite again. And even began to speak to my father in Mandarin! A true bitch indeed. She should have treated everyone with impatiality, more so to her own kind in a foreign land...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23963594.post-4956948238900742082008-10-05T11:41:00.000+08:002008-10-05T11:41:00.000+08:00edward:條咩"yeh"比較長啊?? mh poon:i've been to the coli...edward:
條咩"yeh"比較長啊??

mh poon:
i've been to the coliseum years ago bor, but didn't know they have any VIP rooms.. and yes, we were definitely being seated in the main hall, stained table cloth and napkins.. anyway, we went there just to feel the retro ambience, there are actually more nicer restaurants for steaks out there.. hehe!!

csws:
of course i remember our coliseum patronage, hahaha!! yeah, i had the same experience in MH too, she was totally rude to all passengers except the angmoh, and i really wrote a complaint email to MH on her and got apology reply.. but i regret i didn't do it on the spot that time, haiz..[SK]https://www.blogger.com/profile/01863360136363789539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23963594.post-9597210250676241012008-10-05T06:07:00.000+08:002008-10-05T06:07:00.000+08:00haha we did patronise Coliseum years ago (must hav...haha we did patronise Coliseum years ago (must have been more about 10 yrs!) and we were obviously seated at the main restaurant. tee, you remember? i still remember calvin was there -- and it must be with jess too? anyway, another classic 2 faced eg, our famous national airline - MAS -- they may have it in their code of conduct, treat Mat Salleh with a smile but locals without one, there goes my mileage to other airlines.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23963594.post-82505690205395069132008-10-05T01:48:00.000+08:002008-10-05T01:48:00.000+08:00Obviously you haven't been to the Coliseum for the...Obviously you haven't been to the Coliseum for their famous sizzling steak.

The maître d' is arguably the most two-faced waiter in the world.

Foreigners are invited into the VIP room at the back and served in the best china. You can almost see him bowing 90deg to the matsallehs all the way from the entrance to the VIP room.

Locals are sitted at tables with stained table cloth at the front of the house, served in chipped dinnerware.

We vowed never to return. The sizzling steaks were overrated anyway. Edward Tayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01553778950073463412noreply@blogger.com
