2014.01.24 | 食得很飽

[Volume 9 Issue 1, #1853]
there were public holidays one after another last week, it was supposed to be nice since we can rest more, but instead maybe because we rest more and get even lazier?? and because of that, i kind of ate more than usual, until i felt like my stomach is so bloated as if the food i ate have not been digested and cleared away at all.. last wednesday, it was a 2½-hour 7+3-course (because there were extra portions, 3 of the courses were repeated) faux-kaiseki dinner.. the next day meeting up with a few friends, we went for japanese (the last photo below).. and on saturday i went to pasar malam and again bougt a lot of street snacks because i couldn't resist (no photo taken though).. wow wow wow!! thinking back i really think i have been eating too much, must start to go on diet again!! but without those food, there will not be photos to share with you right?? :p

    8. Kon'nichiwa Semua orang manusia! I am here at last and the traffic today is so terrible like all the garden snails were crawling to find trees to lay eggs.

I looked through all the photos 3-4 times and I could not decide which is my favourite. Perhaps I have the same taste as STP for choosing Tempura. This dish is truly a Nippon's signature dish.

    1. Talking about public holidays, call me a bad mum.. I have (some) phobia when it comes to public holidays.. This means I will have to takecare of the kids at home and do (extra) house chores.. Don’t you all realize you do more work at home? Like cleaning the house, washing toilets, vacuuming, mopping the floor, cooking, cleaning up the kitchen (well, unless you have a maid, then different story)..

      Delete
    2. When I only had Kenzie boy, yes, I look forward to public holidays.. Then I could spend more time with him.. When I was on MC or took annual leave, I even took care of him at home (did not send to the nanny).. Konon miss him so much and wana spend time with him ma.. But after having baby G, errr, I am looking forward some me-time and some time to breathe.. Curse me all you want, I’m just being frank..

      Delete
    3. Baby G is a clingy baby, and cry non stop 24 hours a day, 7 days a week IF there is no people around him.. He MUST have some people around him, if not, he will cry until the whole house comes down..

With him around I couldn’t do any housechore, even if I put him right in front of me in the stroller or at the hi-chair.. He MUST be carried..

Now, tell me, am I an exhausted mum?

Even during my shower, you know what I have to do? I open the door wide, put the hi-chair in front of the door facing me, put baby G on the hi chair, so that he can look at me (when I am showering) ! Yep, that’s us during Saturdays when hubby needs to work (half day) and I am alone with two kids to handle..

      Delete
    4. My mom like you also, don't like holidays, cause she has lots of grandson and granddaughters to take care of...need to prepare their lunch, since all my nephew and nieces very picky so have to prepare three different meal!!! =.=!!!

      Delete
    5. I am glad I am not alone, and someone actually understands where I am coming from..

This does not make me a less better mum I am sure, rite?

With two cranky kids to handle (and a hubby who works on holidays), I feel phobia lor.. Coz I can't do anything else when the baby is around.. I have to hold him like a koala bear all the time :)

      Delete
    6. hahaha Today i also can tuk tuk pc...tuk tuk phone so darn hard to tuk leh.

bila bonus? the Exgratia...sure the bosses see you tuk tuk so rajin will get double bonus *evil plan of leading you tuk tuk out of topic*

ah...your first comment i super sokong 100001%. See during the year end school holiday..Me berak also no time....wanna blog also like wanna die jor. No time to blog and blog hop. sikit sikit "mama mama" die or not die...Then have to think of way to keep him occupied leh

Hmm but how come people say two kids are easier to handle than one kid get. Bluff me one ah? so many people kept pok pek pok pek ask me have second one.

Baby G is opposite of KZ? wei u mandi open door like that then the kids see all la?

But now Public Holiday seems to be a horror la. Shopping mall all pack with people . Wanna find parking also setengah mati leh.

Now if public holiday i would prefer stay home and lazy around the house instead of going out. Feel public holiday is more stressed than normal day. Hmm maybe am abnormal la

I feel for you la...If public holiday bring two kids to shopping mall sure cham liao. really will be like headless chicken. End up cant buy anything or see anything at all.

      Delete
    7. If the kids are more or less the same age, then yes, 2 or 3 kids easier to takecare.. Coz they will play among themselves and can mingle around.. If one is like baby G, still a baby, and another is like Kenzie, almost 3yo, cannot match one.. Kenzie will always push/beat baby away, and like that day, use pencil scrape his face lor.. Heart attack aku tau !!

Bonus sudah dapat in December.. Actually it's not bonus pun, it's called the 13th month bonus.. You sendiri kira la.. One year got 52 months rite? But 1 year got 12 months only.. 1 month got 4 weeks.. So 12 x 4 = 48 weeks only ma.. So 48 = 4 = 52 kan? So that additional one month "bonus" is still a salary, no?

Bring 2 kids out for a while still ok. Either shop, or eat.. Cannot both shop and eat.. Either one will get restless.. Then sit on floor, shout, scream, cry, you name it.. If wana shop in peace, cannot bring kids out ger la..

      Delete
    8. Me math failed la...I am sure SK can count how much your bonus la in a jiffy. his maths very good de.

Hmm...so far J when go out shopping or makan he dare not throw tanturm guling guling on the floor. He tried to do that once. We biuarkan dia and walked away. Let him cry. After that he dare not jor.

But that time was weekdays la. not weekend or public holiday. If public holiday dare not bring him to shopping mall lor. Takut hilang. Hilang once before. he not scared. Not even cry. Just walk and walk look for us. Gua pulak like orang gila shouting his name in the shopping complex. Lucky he heard my blooming voice and he come found me. Only then he baru cry a bit. LOL

      Delete
    9. Wah, ini J mau kena rotan kau kau lor.. Tell him now got so many cases like this leh.. Have to cling on to parents nomatter how leh.. Later kena kidnapped liao, heret into the toilet, shave hair, then change all his baju, potong tangan kaki, then nasi sudah jadi bubur lor.. *choi choi choi*

But when kids hilang I paling takut lor.. Haih, sometimes rather don't go out on weekends also.. if weekdays, orang tak ramai still ok la..

Wah ok ma.. J boy dare not guling guling on the floor.. Maybe lastime he guling too much liao, tarak rasa liao.. Plus, he's so big boy now, takkan no shame shame still guling meh?

      Delete
    10. wahahahaha"heret into the toilet, shave hair, then change all his baju, " I think this one wont kena at J la...he already botak what...if you go through STP and Anay blog you will see Anay recognised STP pun because he saw J Botak head .

A group of bloggers went to eat Curry fish head sect 19 mah.

That time dunno why tarak arrange SK, TM and SP to meet with STP. Maybe that time not so close yet la.

i think next round STP come we have to ajak him meet up at Plasta Zanmai la. The enviroment there more comfortable

J guling one time only. after that dare not jor coz the guling tarak get any reacting., terbalik he terkedek kedek chase after us LOL.

    1. Ok, about food.. Japanese food huh..It’s one of my favourite, but call me jinjang. Call me jakun. When it comes to Japanese food, I only dine in three places.. Oh dear, should I continue? Malu la, coz I am like a katak bawah tempurung..

      Delete
    2. Ok, I only go to Saisaki, Shogun and Jogoya.. What does all these 3 have in common? Yep, buffet style.. Kiasu ma, wana eat more, since ala carte restaurants are always pricey (in my humble opinion la)… Wait, does Sushi King and Sakae Shushi count? Oohh and Pasta Zanmai.. Kira mou as Japanses restaurant?

      Delete
    3. Usually, I will be hogging at their sashimi section (who doesn’t?).. Not so much into sushi, becoz would have been full if I stuff in sushi first, yes? Usually the sashimi goes in first..

After that, will be hogging the teppanyaki section pulak.. Choose my meat, mushrooms and ask them to prepare (and request for more butter).. Yep, I love more butter on my teppanyaki dish..

After the teppanyaki pulak, got to be those fried stuffs, like tempura, soft-shelled crabs, scallops, gyoza and other goodies from the bar..

Of course, they have other things too like rice, vege, fish and what-nots.. Lastly, dessert must be macha ice-cream with red bean..

      Burrrpppp..

      Delete
    4. Hahaha....me too tarak pandai or fasih with Japanese food thingy. Since sushi king opened till now...i baru went one time last year. so jakun leh

I think the reason i dont go is that I dont like they put seaweed in almost everything. I dont eat seaweed punya. see my skin so rough you know already la. And the rice is more bulat and like glued together. Not really keen on it lor.

If i go pun i will eat the goreng stuffs lo.

Kesian Kaldip. He loves japanese food but dont get to eat often coz me "rice tong" eats chinese and malay dishes mostly...and indian banana leaf rice too la

Before this sushi king and Pasta zanmai...the only "japanese food i ate was that Teppayaki la... so ulu hor? Eat rice, beef and all those taugeh and cabbage :p

      Delete
    5. Eh Meow, you tokok or wat? Your skin fair and smooth like tau-foo-fah you somemore say your skin rough? Puh-leese...

Eh, I think you and hubby can go to Shogun la.. He can have his japanese selection, you pulak can go eat your rice with dishes la.. Really, they have salmon fried rice, pasta with cream sauce, vege, steamed cod fish, meat, etc.. Just like fusion la dear..

Eh you are not ulu.. If wana cut cost, yet wana have Japanese food at the same time, Teppanyaki and Pasta Zanmai is the place to go lor.. I personally feel the price ok, not too high..

Eh, you also like goreng stuff ahh? *give me 5*
I also like goreng stuff, especially dimsum place hor, I always order the fried suikow or fried prawn dumpling.. Then kiasu ask to tambah mayonaise banyak banyak...

      Delete
    6. Tokok or chicken or duck la you tarak see me face to face before ma. of course la like you in FB and Blog put the pak suit suit and wat liut luit photos...

Sk seen me before so he know me auntie la. Always kena taruk (in a nice polite way) by him and anay to "ubah" get rid of the nenek specs ...cut hair short to look younger LOL.

Shogun is the one in Mont Kiara ka? Or is it Tenji. Been there one. Friend belanja makan buffet. Nice but pricey leh. If wanna go have to wait for those groupon sale la

Went to Pasta Zanmai okay la.That day I ate the terriyaki chicken rice and J had the seafood set baru RM26. Super thank you to Mak Glam for the dinner.

Hmmm actually me tarak like goreng stuffs but then no choice so eat goreng stuffs la. If the food all sushi and have seaweed then like that lor. But Pasta Zanmai, I find I still have a lot of choice la.

      I like the green tea

      Delete
    7. Eh, Shogun inside Sunway Pyramid also got lor.. Lagi convenient.. You shopping halfway, can go to Shogun for makan lor.. Then after that, continue shopping again.. But I think now Mont Kiara also got 1 branch leh, but I'm not sure on the Mont Kiara one la.. Usually if I go it would be the Sunway Pyramid one.. "tham fong pin" ma...

wei...mana satu pasar malam you biasa pigi? SS2 and OUG pasar alam have one Stadium Popiah very sedap leh. Got lap cheong inside but price also premium price la as compared to others.

saw "new" trend something about vegetarian popiah ah...the ones they put a lot of mayo geh...But i dont like. I like the tradisional popiah.

Hmm pasar malam i usually buy CKT , apam balik , fruits and vege la. Oh ya...j like those fishballs and the siew mai from pasar malam. Usually i buy those for him to munch in the car lor.

I love to eat and I eat to live & not live to eat.... I have concluded that Malaysia has the best variety of local, international and fusion food to suit even the fussiest eater! Thambee eats everything and non stop, soon you will be rounder than our Moon!

    1. Wait, are you obese? I don't think so wor.. Looking at your pictures, I think you are skinny lor.. Like aneroxic like that... Actually, are you eating enuff mou?

Yep, agree with you, most restaurants have fusion food.. Not promoting Shogun tho', but like I mentioned, I like Shogun coz you can get a mixture of everything there..

If one partner likes rice+dishes+noodles thingy, and they other party likes japanese, ok ma, still can go there.. They have rice, soup, vege, steamed fish, meat and other "chinese"-dishes thingy there.. Whereas the other party can hog around the sashimi/ tempura/sushi/teppanyaki section.. So it's a win-win situation lor..

  15. I always prefer to eat Asian food more than Western food as they are smaller portions and less meat on the whole. However, I would always try to start with 前菜 | appetizer when I have enough time to drool over the meal with friends.

I was staring at your appetizer and thought it was some squids or Kim Chi based. What the hell you ate Thambee? No name pula.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Once upon a time, when I was younger and leaner like this horny Thambee, I often ate the 魚生及海藻拼盤 | sashimi and seaweed platters in mammoth quantities. After seeing Letchumi's videos of worms coming out like villagers fleeing from the Sashimi patient's brains, I squirmed and started to reduce my intake until I almost stopped. Now I miss those Sashimi feasts and have moved on. Go enjoy Thambee and forget the worms.

Aiya, so scared toxic, then ma eat steamed food everyday lor.. Use the 3-tier steamer, senang.. 1st tier boil soup, 2nd tier steam fish, 3rd tier steam vege, kautim, kan senang?

No need achi-acho banyak sangat.. Everyday eat steamed food, no rice, no potatoes, munch on (raw) celery sticks, after 2 weeks, I guarantee all toxic go down..

Bottom is actually the pot la.. You can put water inside or soup, sekali boil.. 2nd layer is the metal tier lor.. Can put fish, steam sekali lor.. 3rd layer is the 2nd tier.. Put brocolli ke, chicken with kei-ji ke, etc.. So sekali 1 soup 2 dishes can kautim in a jiffy lor..

  18. Oh well, I have commented above that my top preference would be 天婦羅拼盤 | tempura platter.. They are simply delicious and crunchy when prepared to perfection. When I dined at Jogoya or Shogun's buffet spread, I would feast on this tempura the most. SO heavenly dei and my dipping sauce would be overflowed with white raddish.

The Japanese and Chinese fried rice are almost similar to me. I rather give it a miss instead of wasting my tummy space and I will eat Tempura instead which makes Anay a happier man.

Well, seems like you went over a bit and eat quite a lot lately huh? I agree, sometimes too much of holidays is not good too, cause we tend to become lazier and emo when it comes to getting back to work.
But ah, life is too short to think so much, so just eat whatever we like la! But of course do remember to sweat it out after a feast, we still want to be healthy ma right? Plus CNY is coming, we want to be fit to wear nicely ma, right? :p

    2. Appetizer wise, looks so so la, same goes to the fried rice. As for the sashimi set, I don't eat raws tuff so naturally it doesn't look inviting to me :p
Then the cod steak, I bet it's quite sweet?
Grilled wagyu, hmm I don't eat beef so it looks so so too :p

    3. Hmm speaking of food, actually I am so envious at you guys who stay in big city, there're just so many choices! Here at my hometown, I can count with my 10 fingers the number of Japanese restaurants, haha xD And not just Japanese food, others also same, not much variety, sometimes hubby and I went round and round in the town area for more than 15 minutes just to decide what to eat, LOL!

But come to think of it, too much choices also not good la hor? Cause hard to decide too! xDD

But no matter what, I still love my hometown very much, and will still choose to stay here for the rest of my life, hehehe!

  27. 2.5 hours for a meal. Classy!!!

When my family went for all the meals served in a ryokan, we usually get surprised reaction because we kinda eat fast.

Other guests ate leisurely but we probably spent half the time as the others to finish ours. Very uncouth. LOL
