[Volume 8 Issue 1, #1654]
i once experienced a lost mail for the gifts i sent to a friend overseas, and because i sent it by normal mail, i had no proof to claim it back, so i could only sigh for being unlucky.. i actually do not understand, the address was correct and how could such a big parcel got lost in mail?? since then, i do not trust the people in the post offices anymore, so whenever i send something i must have it registered.. at least there is a proof of posting, in case such incident happens again i still have something to back me up.. i found registered mail is good enough, especially locally, most of the time mail is delivered at the same time as courier, so not necessary to spend more.. another good thing with registered mail is that there is online tracking of the location of the mail (though not a really good one).. every time after i posted my mails, i will follow-up tracking online, obviously i am way more anxious than the recipients, haha!! :D

This is true story about Anay's mother who is so stingy and never used Pos Dafter. She dared to send cash in mails for so many years like US$100 or RM100 in red packets as birthday gifts around Malaysia and overseas. She boasted that they all received, no problem lah.

Last week my old lady grumbled for days that her grand daughter never received the 50 UK Pounds she sent!!! Gila mama! Now she blamed the UK Postal service not reliable, always on strike pula.

    10. Pos daftar is registered letter.

RM2.20 for the sticker for Malaysia, RM4.10 for overseas.

Safe and reliable. Can track also.

      Delete
    11. Aiyoyo! You guys make me go googling for "dafter".
      I found this, Dafter means
      1.Silly; foolish.
      2.Crazy: "have you gone daft?".

      Delete
    12. Oo the sticker is RM2.20 ah...no wonder la the post office ask me buy additional stamps. Am so daft. Tarak perasan ni pulak.

      Delete
    13. yalah, you all getting dafter and dafter with PosDaftar lah.. the basic registered mail postage is RM2.20 (local) and RM4.10 (overseas), any additional weight you will have to buy stamps and paste on your envelope lah.. you all received mine so many times never notice meh??

      Delete
    14. We won't notice that one. We will be very kencang opening up the parcel and checking at what inside only. Outside is not important ma!

  4. Good morning SK :)
    Happy Mailing hehehe

    ReplyDelete
  5. yes, registered post is good enough and it's much cheaper too. But it takes more days than courier. Courier only takes a day. I prefer to courier as I like my recipient to get it as soon as possible.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have experienced lost mail too when I sent a parcel oversea without registering it. I thought the post could be trusted. Since then, I will register a post if it's important. Otherwise, normal post is ok without registering.

      Delete
    2. I don't mind getting registered one or courier, like poslaju. As long as my mail is well taken care of.

But if I want the next-day delivery, I'll opt for poslaju despite having to pay a little bit more.

      Delete
    3. duno la...i still not really trust pos daftar. And for post daftar, if nobody is at home then the recipient have to go pos office to collect.

There was one time when i went collect registered mail, another lady was making noise there seems that they lost her registered mail.

sometimes pos man also lazy ...they just put the yellow card in the mail box. lazy to go up to the house.

      Delete
    4. I usually put a reachable address, not my house one. Because nobody's at home when the postman does his work in the afternoon.

I find it quite troublesome to collect the mail from the post office, when I'm not at home in the first place. Lazy la~~ :p

      Delete
    5. last time when am working I would put office address la. But then suah is the Sexytary will open the parcel lor eventhough not under company name.

But sometimes the pos man will come and deliver the parcel to me la

    6. Lately I have been receiving WONDERFUL gifts from bloggers and my orders from Groupon and US using home address. I started to have headaches going to Post Office and Courier Offices.......so I found the best is my office address lah!

The Ultraman post card on my office table made me smile so happily. My staff were peeping at me with curiousity! Now I heard them mumble & giggle "Ultraman" often. I think it is my new nickname!!!

      Delete
    7. Eh, why the sexytary wants to open others' personal parcel? To scan through like kastam? Or purposely like to intai people's secret?

I think that action is pretty daft, what if the parcel contained explosive item and that sexytary kena first (not intended for her) :p

Here comes my wild scriptwriting again, haha!

      Delete
    8. WHen I work at a bank, Ah Hua... it's regulation not to use bank's address for personal letters. If kena open, cannot marah.

But sometimes, you have to think also... if the staff in charge of opening letters have to open so many letters in a day, they don;t really see the recipients first. Just slit open then only read.

So must understand also la. Some more, you are asking staff to pass your personal letter to you wor...

      Delete
    9. I also agree .. we are working people and the convenient place to deliver is our office..
then some more the receptionist could receive for us as well..

      Delete
    10. that is why i never send by normal mails already, at least have it registered.. i actually find PosDaftar quite okay lah, can track also lah though not as detailed and updated as PosLaju.. but true, the headache comes when we have to go to Post Office to get the registered mail, so troublesome lah..

      Delete
    11. any personal letters the sexytary will open la.

Pos Daftar and Poslaju seems to be same speed if in Klang valley area. so no point send poslaju.

If send outstation then maybe different timing la

      Delete
  6. Sometimes those urgent but not important ones Bananaz will send by Pos Ekpres as the cost varies with size not like Registered or Pas Laju only one fixed rate. As most of the time working people are seldom at home it would be trouble some for them to collect at POS. Pos Ekpres do not need any signature by the recipient but they have some tracking tag just in case it gets diverted so also no guarantee it will reach the recipient though Ekpres. Important documents should NOT be sent via Pos Ekpres.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. the postage for PosDaftar and PosLaju also go by weight lah, not fixed one.. i once received a PosEkspress two weeks after the post date, this is not express at all, but PosLambat only.. so most of the time i just use PosDaftar, good enough and economical also compared to PosLaju and PosEkspress..

      Delete
    2. yes, it sure did. I have received your parcel already! Thank you so much, SK!

    2. Actually I also had the same encounter, lost the mail :(
So it's always safer and more secured to send through registered mail.

      Delete
    3. And another thing good with registered mail is that we can always track the status of the parcel.

      Delete
    4. But sometimes registered mail also will get lost.. Though very rare la~

    5. saw in FB someone wanna combine oppa and listen listen into a dance. LOL

just imagining posman doing that dance..Listen Listen Listen..I come , you open...LOL...Listen Listen listen..I come deliver your registered mail :p

    6. huh?? registered mail can also go missing?? how could that be possible?? i mean if the address is correct, it should be a lost mail.. anyway, got tracking number so always can lodge a claim back, that's POS Malaysia problem lah..

  8. I found something nice about overseas postal services. Over the decades I received returned mails from US, Korea and Japan saying that the persons as addressed (1) Have Moved (2) Address Not Located..... I think our local postmen will never do that. They might throw all into the NS Cemetery which was reported in news.

      Delete
    6. yeah, that is the lesson i have learned!! unless you are sending some invaluable things, never send through normal mail.. at least have if registered, or better still pos laju.. hmmm, no i also worried if the registered ones will go missing..

      Delete
  9. That's really thoughtful of you! I also experienced lost mail before so if it's something important I will at least use PosExpress or Registered mail too. It's even more so when I send mail overseas... but it means more $$$!!

    Replies
    1. after since i experienced that lost mail, i make sure i only use PosDaftar.. PosEkspress also won't use lah since there was once i received it only after two weeks.. if need to be quick, PosLaju will be the choice..

    2. Posdaftar is cheap and Pos laju is expensive. I use both depending on the kind of parcels.

  10. I also lost one parcel before... not parcel la..i put inside Big envelope, sent to one KL blogger and Pooofff... hilang liow.. so now i also sent thru pos laju.. can track as you said..
