[Volume 7 Issue 8, #1507]
i think nowadays people prefer to communicate through text messaging, at least i am one who uses message more than talking through phone.. especially when smartphones are so common, and hundreds of different chat apps are available for free, most of the time sending messages is more convenient and appropriate, that's why you rarely hear someone shouting over the phone "hello hello, can you hear me??" repeatedly anymore, haha!! but there are still problems with messages, ding-dong here and there could never be as efficient as a phone call to settle things on the spot.. when you get tired of typing the messages, will you be the one to end the conversation first?? or you are always the patient one, and the last message in the conversation always came from you?? :p

  1. For me, it's 50-50. In a disagreement, I believe a phone-call works better in coming to an agreement because texts tend to go on and on..

    1. When in disagreement, phone call certainly iron out the issue faster as compared to text .

    2. I agree it's 50-50. I call and text equally. Texts could lead to misunderstanding, sometimes. Especially when not good in expressing / describing via words, like me...

With a simple call, all doubts can be cleared, without ding-dong here and there.

    3. I like your saying "Texts could lead to misunderstanding, sometimes". especially dumb dumb user like me with smartphone. hate the auto correct function. I say it once and i will say it a million times. It kept putting words to my text!!! Grrrrrrrrrr!!

But then when in a crossroad and when you don't know what or how to say something to the other person, texting could be a good way.

For example, husband and wife gaduh. If face to face or over the phone when still fuming, sure there will be words that we dont mean to say will terkeluar.

But if text, most likely will cool down a bit and reread the text before sending out.

    4. Words that come out from our mouth when we are angry is deadly. But texting is different. We process what we want to say and it comes out from our fingers. Not as deadly as former :)

Thus, don't say anything when in anger, you'll make the matter worst. I don't believe in 'Don't go to sleep angry', because once I exploded, I can't sleep at all.

      I choose my beauty sleep~~ :D

    5. One thing texting is easier for me because I pekak badak. Cannot hear clearly one. LOL

So better read than listen. xD

    6. Yvonne - that is one plus point for texting la. we can spare a thought before pressing the send button. Me too cant sleep if aftr explode or when boiling. Dont think many will be able to sleep in that condition la

Dont go to sleep angry ...but wont always work. sometimes the issue cant be solve imediately so have to boil over night lor

Lina- la.....why pekak badak. Purposely pretand dont hear is it :p...hear no evil...

It's hard to determine the real person in the virtual world. We might use a profile pic which is not us at all! - Just to get the attention.

And chatting with other commenters in this blog, gee, I really don't know their actual person in life, except Yannie :D

Am started to think, is SP actually a PREDATOR here?

      Just joking!

    10. TM, what do you mean "met him 1 1/2 times"?? Where does the phantom 1/2 time come from??

Do you mean for the 1st time you met him, it's actually a meetup. So you see him 'in-full'.

Then the 2nd time you bumped into him, coincidentally and you only saw his backside - which means 1/2 time??

  9. I started to hate facebooks when I realized few friends have no time to read facebooks but they commented and chatted few times with me. When I brought up the FB issues casually with them when we met up, they looked blank at me!!!!

Goodness, it was their wives or son who used their Facebook to comment or send private messages to me!! I was shocked and learnt a good lesson.

    1. HUh what is their wife and son doing messaging you in FB?

      But i also kena once.

Friend's daughter used her FB to post something in the FB wall and I replied. Then the mother baru said iit's not her who wrote the message. Kinda scary like that. Dangerous too.

Just think of the new act 114A or something ah?....the one about abuse punya...silap silap masuk jail also don't know why coz ID kena used by others to post bad things in FB. Presumed guilty till proven innocent.

    2. Wah! Like that also can?? I never experienced those before la, not very active in FB. I do check in FB daily but I mostly stalk ppl without leaving any comments, kekeke! FB is a good source to see friends (and friends of friends)'s latest photos.

TM, why the wives chatted with you using their husbands' ID? Are they trying to korek rahsia from you?

And what the hell the boys talking to this old uncle? They should be chasing over flowers and flirting with sweet young thing?

    7. Honestly few wives of my best friends are real bitches and caused their husbands to sour relationships with their school mates! What a pain in the asses! Got one wife banned her husband from calling me as she checks his phone bills so he had to call me from phone booths each time he came to KL. That friend often visited his own mistress and girlfriends until the wife had to blacklist his friends as well. She put me on HIGH SUSPECT list thinking that I was a pimp.

      Delete
    8. TM, you cannot blame the wives. They have to be cautious since their husbands are not being faithful to the family. They will scan through the phone bills and contact numbers and restrict the husbands movement.

Maybe you do look like a pimp :p Eh, you always bring your friends to pub, massage parlor and karaoke, is it? Cannot intro my hubb to you. Later become good buddy, brotherhood. I also have to blacklist you.

The recent one was like this...."F"£$K YOU!!! You think I didn't know you have been coming to check my bedroom when I am out??"...

    16. Sigh.... what do the parents do wrong to their children, until they deserved publicly online scolding?

But one thing good about posting message online, others get to know about the message and it'll get circulated very fast, especially via FB or tweeter. Ppl can print screen the message and show as proof.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I will be guilty of sending condolence thru FB. No I wont LIKE the message la.

But I think maybe FB is the fastest way to announce anything and then those who saw the message can respond too whether they want to go for the wake or something like that or tumpang pak kam with those who are going

    2. Talking about pak kam or ang POWs to advance for friends. I had few bad experiences where I had to beg and remind the fellas to pay me back the pak kam money!!! Got one CB lady never paid me back the ang pau money for a wedding I attended and paid on her behalf. That was 15 years ago and I still scold the bride today to remind her that she had such a terrible guest!! We can still laugh at it but I take all this as good lessons, not a painful one.

If calls then maybe the other person is busy leh padahal the question is not urgent. Like "Do you know when is the next year CNY holidays?" "Do you know where I put the shoe?" ...sure kena KNS if call just to ask all these "small question".
